Insight into the thoughts on the development of the perfect human race and the respect given towards a certain human remain written in a book. Francis Fukuyama records his opinions in his book, Our Posthuman Future, in a chapter called “Human Dignity”. This chapter explains the authors’ ideas on the origin and the importance of an attributed characteristic called “Factor x”. It described as a factor to human dignity. Fukuyama goes in depth about respecting humans up to their abilities and the religious, scientific, and political standing points. The enhancement of human characteristics by biochemistry and the explanation of the “Genetic Lottery” also exist within this chapter. The sporadic decisions of our genes and characteristics called “The genetic lottery” seems to ruin the human race in the mind of the author. “Today, the ‘genetic lottery’ guarantees that the son or daughter of a rich and successful parent will not necessarily inherit the talents and abilities that created conditions conducive to the parent’s success.” (Fukuyama) The genetic lottery generalizes as unfair, causing certain people to obtain fewer intelligence, or less attractive features, or disabilities of any kind. (Fukuyama) Perfecting the decision of genes and characteristics by biochemistry becomes an option introduced by the author. Biotechnology would develop an opportunity to “enhance human characteristics and decline to compete in this dimension.” (Fukuyama) Biotechnology interrupts diversity within the human race, creating similar people, forcing everyone to exist of equal rank in the social class. Although our main goal leads to equality, disrupting “genetic lottery” with science ruins the purpose of creation. “Genetic lottery” exists because of God, he has chosen all given features and characteristics attributed by humans.
The biotechnology spoken about will lead to “designer babies”, humans born with un-naturally selected traits and genes in order to create the perfect child.
