There are many reasons that people like to hunt. Whether it is for food, fun or for population control. Throughout time hunting has been one of the mankind's main source of food. Nowadays it’s not as much about food anymore, though. Now hunting is considered a sport. As of late it has been questioned whether or not it's ethical to hunt for sport. There are many reasons that people like to hunt. Whether it is for food, fun or for population control.
There are still people today who do hunt as their main source of food. A lot of these people choose to hunt for their own meat vs. buying it because they feel it is fresher. Also, because they know where the food comes from. These people who hunt for their own food also often also use the fur for

Sometimes the hunters even like to stuff the animals they killed so they can mount them in their house to show off. These hunters hunt all sorts of animals, not just one that you can usually find in the US. In other countries, it's more often than in the US to find poachers. These are hunters that kill endangered animals for the bragging rights and for the thrill of the kill.
Population control is one of the biggest reasons for hunting. This reason draws both people who hunt for food and people who hunt for sport. This is the main reason that hunting for sport is actually not looked down on. It is believed that without hunting there would be too many animals roaming around. If you really think about it if there was no hunting the amount of road kill would just go up.
I personally agree that hunting is extremely necessary. I think that whether it's for food or for a sport it doesn't make a difference. I hunt so I can personally say that it is important and I can see why some people enjoy it. It takes a variety of skills and a lot of patients. It also does keep animal populations down which lowers the amount of road killed deer. This is extremely beneficial for drivers because when you hit a deer it can do a lot of damage to the vehicle and endanger the occupants of the
Hunting is a common activity all around the world, and if performed properly, can have many benefits to us and the rest of the planet. The art of hunting has been around since the beginning of time. Living off of the land used to be a necessity across the world, until the mass production of food came along. In America, people do not usually need to hunt to survive. However, the population of animal species needs to be controlled. Too many of one type of animal can cause a drastic change to any ecosystem. Food supplies decline quickly, leaving many animals without food. Hunting can help keep the population of a group of animals at a good number, making the lives of the other
After reading For Environmental Balance, Pick Up a Rifle by Nicholas D. Kristof I believe that hunting has many benefits to human society. Hunting will lower the deer population, contribute to the economy, and feed hunters’ families.
Food. Clothing. Conservation. Entertainment. All valid reasons to hunt that have evolved greatly over the years. Hunting has served a tremendous role in the progress of man. Without hunting, people would still be living in caves and strictly eating plants. Starting in prehistoric times, hunting has been a crucial activity practiced by Native Americans and other early Americans while steadily transforming into the large hobby that it is today.
Hunting is a controversial topic because it involves a two sided argument. Many people believe that hunting benefits both people and the environment and that it should be allowed in America, while others believe that hunting is cruel to animals, does not provide any benefits, and that it should not be allowed. Hunting started when people made the very first tools and weapons 40,000 years ago during the Stone Age (Wilson 6). The weapons usage was a form of technology. Animal skins and fur were used for making clothes. Horns and bones from the animals were used for making tools, weapons, and ornaments (Wilson 7). In the beginning, the primary reason for hunting was for survival. Today, the primary reason for hunting is not for survival but for
“Hunting is good for the environment because one it helps keep down on the deer herd and other animals that are hunted.”(Smith) ”When you hunt you help herds of animals from getting to over populated. When the deer herds are kept to a lower number there is less likely of a chance for diseases to start to get spread around in return killing off a lot of the deer herd. Hunting to keep down on the deer herd also helps prevent interbreeding. When there gets to be too many deer in one herd there is a good possibility that interbreeding can occur and then birth defects could occur as well as health problems. When deer herds are kept to a low number there is not as much of a chance for deer and vehicle crashes to happen. When there is smaller deer herds that are controlled by hunting the
Hunting has been around ever since man has. It used to be the way people survived. Even though we have supermarkets nowadays, and we don't need to hunt to survive, it should still be allowed. I'm not saying that everybody should hunt, I am simply saying that if you want to hunt, you should have that option. Wild game meat tastes better, and it is better for you because it does not have any of the additives you would find in the meat you buy from the supermarket.
Hunting has been around since before man was even thought of and has evolved ever since. Now only a sport, ounce was a skill used to survive. “Hunting is a natural, ethical, and healthy undertaking” (“History”, par1). Hunting is a way of life without hunting nothing would live that’s why we have a food chain. Herbivores eat plants, carnivores eat herbivores and bigger carnivores eat other carnivores.
In many families, hunting is a tradition carried on from generation to generation and is a respected sport. However, there are those who do not respect the sport or the animals and have no issues harvesting the animals by any means necessary. Poachers are people that hunt during a non-hunting season or use tools to lure animals such as deer and bear to areas easier for them to get a shot. Essentially, poaching amounts to the theft of public's wildlife. (Wilkes-Barre, 2008) Poaching occurs all over the world and is not limited to a certain species. In Africa, elephants are the target of poachers for their tusks. In the 1970's and the 1980's the population of the elephants in Africa reduced due to poaching from 1.3 million to 600,00 0 in less than a decade. This illegal hunting selectively removed older animals with larger tusks and the results of this are being seen. Poaching not only affects the elephant population but the behavior of the elephants as well. (Archie & Chiyo, 2012) In all reality hunters have absolutely no reason or right to bend the rules, much less steal.
Deer hunting is something I personally think is a great thing with many benefits. One of the benefits is it lowers human-deer conflicts and is a way to keep people safe. Another is that deer hunting is a tradition and a way of life. There are many other benefits of deer hunting but these are just a few I chose to talk about. By the end of my writing I hope you agree.
Many hunters are asked the same question, “Why do you hunt?” There are lots of different ways to answer this question. They could do it for the food, clothing, spend time with family and friends, and even family
Hunting an animal can be contemplated as a very resourceful act, the meat is never wasted and the fur can be cleaned and made into clothing. Beaver fur is an excellent example of a useful source for insulated and waterproof clothing. Furs have been worn for thousands of years and the tradition still continues to this day, although conversely, some people would get paint thrown on them for wearing a fashion trend. Overpopulation is quite an issue these days so hunting animals wouldn’t be such a terrible thing considering that it stops animal populations from getting too big, it would be a hazard if there were so many bears in the forests. By hunting down animals, you would be eating animals that haven’t been to factories like What everything is really thinking about is if hunting is really necessary, my opinion would be that it’s a hobby in one way and a heroic job in the
At one point in time, humans relied on hunting and gathering to survive. Although now it is much easier to go get food for dinner, by just making a quick trip to the store, it is still really important to understand why hunting is still a common thing. Being able to hunt gives people the opportunity to bring home food to their families that is natural and not steroid induced. Also, if for any reason the world was turned upside down, how else would we find food to eat? I understand hunting is not for everyone, but I would like to tell the story of my first kill so you can fully understand the importance and feeling it gives me.
Hunting is the way many Alaskans fill their freezers with organic, lean and overall environmentally friendly meat. Hunting is a fantastic way to build bonds between generations and between mankind and the environment. Many rural Alaskans would starve if they didn’t have a steady supply of big game and could hunt it. Hunting is a commendable sport if you use the whole animal, meaning meat and hide, and abide by all federal and local guidelines and regulations.
Buzzle: Hunting Pros and Cons. Last but never least, sport hunting should be banned due to the fact that it causes the endanger and extinction of animal species. “One glaring negative of hunting for sport is over hunting. This occurs when hunters kill too many of a species, threatening their survival.” (Life123). Species become endangered when they are over hunted, and if hunters take it too far, the species will no longer exist. “…there are many animals that have been over-hunted and brought to near extinction, one example being the American Buffalo. Another example was the over-killing of the Cougar. Although this animal was hunted to protect cattle from being attacked, it led to this species nearly becoming extinct.” (Buzzle) The substandard thing about species becoming extinct is that they might not reappear until millions of years later. Imagine how long that would
Hunters cause injuries, make animals go through a lot of pain and suffering. They destroy their families and habitat, and leave helpless and scared baby animals that are dependent on the animals they hunt, behind to starve to death. A lot of state wildlife agencies are funded by hunting, trapping and fishing licenses, because of this they promote the killing of wild animals, and even sell wildlife trophy hunts to those who enjoy killing them. For example, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) recently received $45,000 from the sale of a killing tag for California Desert Bighorn Sheep, which was sold at the 41st Safari Club International Convention in Reno, Nevada (Anti-Hunting).
