Hypersensitive regulatory disorder, this consists of a heightened sensitivity to both auditory and visual stimulation. Taking the example from (Parritz and Troy, 2011) the case of Sara gives us example of this disorder. Sara is difficult to calm, she doesn't eat or sleep on a regular schedule for her age. Other characteristics of this disorder are fearful and cautious or negative and defiant patterns. When it is characterized as fearful and cautious the child will easily upset, be overreactive to touch, light and noises as well. Characteristics of negative and defiant these child avoid change, are fussy, overreactive to touch and sound just to name a few. Next, underreactive regulatory disorder has two categories that are used to describe
| * Likes to be praised * Plays along with everyone of all ages * Very calm, not too demanding * Very chatty during meal times * Gets very upset and moody when very tired while being out of house * Can be very shy or embarrassed when asked to show and tell in front of group of family or friends/teachers * No more tantrums
These children have a reduced sensitivity to pain, but are abnormally sensitive to sound, touch, or other sensory stimulation. These unusual reactions may contribute to behavioral symptoms such as a resistance to being cuddled or hugged.
She rarely or hardly starts disputes with other children, throws temper tantrums, or seeks revenge when feeling picked on. She also performed within the normal range in the Impulsive-Hyperactive subscale. She rarely or hardly calls out unexpectedly, interrupts, or finds it hard to play quietly. She scored within the normal to borderline range in the Antisocial Conduct subscale. She rarely or hardly ever steals, acts dangerously before considering consequences, or destroys the possessions of
• Is unintentionally aggressive to other children due to their egocentric behaviour. For example, all toys belong to them.
The last 2 disorders I will be discussing are ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder) and FASD (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder). The first refers to the disorder where children show delay in communication and socialization skills, impaired social development, and repetitive behavior. One of the most famous autistic adults is Dr. Temple Grandin. He has been on television on shows such as the Today Show and Larry King Live as well as The New York Times and Forbes magazines. Children with autism no matter what the severity respond well to decrease in sensory load.
| * Repetitive play as the baby enjoys doing something over and over again * Crying if they cannot see their parent or carer * Maybe shy around strangers
. They have hard time organising tasks and activities. They are reluctant to complete tasks that requires sustained mental effort.
Selective mutism is an extreme anxiety disorder, and although children with selective mutism speak and act very normally in their home environment together with family members, they are unable to talk in social settings out of their comfort zone (such as at school). Most of the kids with SM have social phobia or social anxiety, and they are not mute intentionally, but they are unable to speak. Usually, SM is mistaken for autism; that is a much more severe problem. Not all children show their tension, in the same way, some may be totally quiet and not able to talk to anybody in a social setting, others may have the capacity to address a chosen few or be able to whisper. They may stop, be blank, unemotional and may be socially isolated. Excessive shyness, withdrawal, clinging behavior, temper, negativism are some of the characteristics of selective mutism.
Children and young people may find themselves going through a parental divorce or be part of a single parent family or they may have become part of a step family. They may
There is a common perception among casual readers--who hasn't heard it voiced?--that Ernest Hemingway did not respect women. The purpose of this essay is to examine one work in such a way as to challenge these heinous assumptions. Hemingway's persona will be left alone. What will be examined is the role of women, as evidenced by Brett Ashley in The Sun Also Rises, and what, if anything, it reveals in the way of settling this account of Hemingway as misogynist.
Daisy and I get a 1 and 3 separately on the physical sensitivity scale. She doesn’t care much about noise and other changes. However, when she hears a child crying, she will ask a teacher what happen. The teacher explains it her, and she will get back to her routine. Also, I seldom see her change clothes because she doesn’t favor water play a lot. So, I can just check her and ask her if she is ok during each transition, and I can offer some assistances if she needs some.
The second type is the hyperactive-impulsive type. Instead of being unable to focus, these children will be unable to sit still. They will fidget or squirm whenever they are forced to remain in one place and often have problems with the volume of their voice. They always want to play and like to yell and scream as they do.
Show definite likes and dislikes at meals and bedtimes. Often need to have a comfort object (ie blanket or teddy). More wary of strangers. Starts to be wilful and have tantrums. Has favourite toys.
A river has the opportunity to lead to great things; even though, each one begins the same way with a fresh spring. It then, pools into a body of water, and starts flowing. It will keep gaining speed, as it continues to travel downstream until it reaches a lake or an ocean. A river is just like me; I have a spring at my home, a life that is gaining speed, and I have ended up at the great Lake Michigan.
