I Am A Caucasian Male

As the world begins to evolve, and technology begins to advance, there are some ideas and acts that continue to occur. Racial and ethnic profiling happens every day, and many individuals push the idea aside. The fact is that we are all people, and nobody deserves to treated differently because of their appearance or what they believe in. We are all human, and we are all special. I am a Caucasian male, so it 's almost impossible for me to experience and to feel what some people go through. I did have an encounter that opened my eyes.

I was scheduled to fly to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport from Reno-Tahoe International Airport. It was my birthday, and I was going to get to see my family for the first time in a couple of months. I arrived to the airport more than an hour early and proceeded to check in. After I was fully checked in, I headed to the security check-in point. I emptied my pockets and put my carry-on items onto the conveyer belt. I then walked through the body scanner, and I was told to step aside because the machine indicated that there was something in my pocket. It was determined that I had an old trident gum wrapper in my left back pocket. I immediately apologized for my mistake, but I was given a stern talking to by the security guard before I was told that I would need to have a full body pat down.

I was asked if I wanted to be patted down privately or in front of everyone. I had nothing to hide so I told him that out in the open would be fine.
