My first class is advisory. In that class I have grown because I stopped talking a lot I focus more I do what I am suppose to do. My advisory class is fun I get along with all my classmates I spend a nice time in that class. I 'm still kinda struggling in not talking a lot sometimes and I get loud that is something that I still have to work on. Next year I want to do better in my advisory because I know that it also counts for a grade it could still help your GPA. I am most proud that I am passing my advisory class because I wasn 't passing it but I step up and I am passing it. If I could go back an do something differently I would take my advisory serious since the first day because it also counts too and it could help your GPA. The most …show more content…
I 've grown in my writing and that makes me happy because I am getting better at it. The Habit of Heart and Mind that I think I 've improved most on is Write because I feel like I have got better at my writing and also my teachers that see that I have got better at it tell me that they also see that I am getting better at writing. A other one that I think I 've improved on is Read because I also feel that I have improved on my reading because I read faster and I don 't have trouble saying words so I know that I 'm getting better at my reading too. Another ones that I have gotten better at are Collaborate because I ask more questions now I 'm not that shy to talk in class when ever I need help on something I ask my teacher for help. Effort I have improved on that one because I have been putting a lot of hard effort in class I always try to do my best. I am most proud that I ain 't that shy in class because back then I wouldn 't like to talk. The most important thing that I 've learned so far is how to do essays that is important because it is something that is professional that could help me later on in the future when I get a job. Next year I want to take my English class more serious since the first day so I won 't be worry about it and also so my grade won 't drop like it happened this year.
In my P.E. class I have had my ups and downs in that class but I also try my best because I know this class
I want to achieve a better grasp of active versus passive voice, and the correct time to use each one. I would like to better understand basic grammar, and explore advanced grammar and sentence structure. I want to continue to write essays that I can be proud of, and that I can feel as if they were important to me personally and not just written to complete an assignment or earn a specific grade. During this first semester I have relearned and reviewed the basics of formal writing so that hopefully next semester I can reach higher, go farther and write better than I ever have
This class was really inspiring and had teach me a lots. I have tried really hard to
The beginning of my junior year seems like it was such a long time ago. This may be because of how much I have grown since the start of the year. When I began AP English, my writing skills needed improvement. For instance, I often used incorrect grammar and struggled with staying on topic. In just one semester, my writing has improved immensely. The more than I write, the more I learn about how to craft a good paper. I have worked on improving my grammar, using rhetoric, addressing my subject, and many more elements of writing. In addition to improving my writing, I have gained many skills to become a better student. I have learned about effective study techniques and time-management skills that allow me to be the most successful. Since I always try my best, I know that over time I will continue to grow in my studies. This year I have gained countless skills that will help me succeed in English in the future.
When I started English 203, I was not a good writer. I have never been the best writer. I could not remember all of the rules, where commas go, and how to correctly use a semi-colon. I did not remember not to use the word you in professional writing or whether the period went before or after quotation marks. But, I think this semester in English I have actually started to pick up the correct way to use quotations, commas, how to avoid contractions, and how to avoid banned words. It took some time but, I feel like I have learned more in the past 16 weeks of English than I have in the past 14 years of school. One of the most valuable writing skills I learned was how to write a review on an article and not
I was not always so outspoken and driven to get good grades. Freshman year I was timid, struggled with my grades, and had no idea what the future looked like. Now, I have found exactly what I want to do for the rest of my life and became much more confident then I was freshman year. Along the way I have even made a decision to switch schools. I have transformed a lot along the way from freshman and sophomore year at Portsmouth High School and finishing off at Rogers High School.
With that in mind, I still have to improve in many areas as proofreading and word choice. Thus, I need to read more so that I can increase my vocabulary. However, at this point I believe that I improved a lot since the beginning of the year and I'm glad to know that I can easily read a difficult book or write a very long essay. Thus, I just need to keep pushing myself and practice each day more and more.
To begin, I have grown as reader, writer, thinker, and speaker. In the specific subject as a reader I have not grow. I still need to work on being able to speak louder and be able to pronounce the words more correctly. As a writer, I have grown plenty. I have learned how to use MLA format, sentence starters, and transition words. For instance, the essays Ms. Martinez makes us do help me in understanding MLA format and being able to write a A+ essay. In the way of thinking and speaking I have increased in thinking, however, in speaking I need to be able to project my voice. To conclude, Ms. Martinez has given us free websites that help us with our essay which has given me a higher edvantage.
I did poorly last semester but this semester I have plans to do better. I am going to have a daily action plan and plans for how to deal with different problems that might come up. Last semester I did not properly handle the things that came up which is why it turned out like it did.
Well this year was a hell of a year. I mean, i didn't pass any of the semesters but i did observe a ton of stuff that went on in the class. The class in general was pretty lit. Every day went by and i honestly did some work. The class was ready to learn as mrs g was ready to teach. I mean yea we had some days were we didn't want to learn anything and there were also days when mrs g didn't want to teach. But ima be honest, doing the work we did wasn't in my best interest. Most of the projects we did in class i worked on, but at the end i didn't end up liking how i did it so i wouldn't even bother turning anything in. like the obituary we had to write about ourselves. I liked the meaning behind this but honestly i didn't want to work on that because it just brought back memories of my friends that were killed.
This year has been a blast! There were so many things that just cried out me, and the projects were so much fun! I know I have grown as a writer by starting to have less and less edits on my paper. Making my blog helped me grow as a writer because it made me want to work harder. I wanted to work harder because I knew people would see my work. Sacred writing time has helped me grow as a writer because the time was helpful in the sense that I got some of my best ideas in just 5 minutes. Mrs. Lockwood has been a huge influence on my writing ability. Her instruction helped me grow by fixing my errors. I made many grammatical and punctual errors, that is, before I started no red ink. No red ink helped me to eliminate those errors. I usually don't
One skill I greatly improved upon was my ability to gather and organize information. On my first paper, Arguing a Position (AaP), I did very poorly on this. The paper was arguing that the mass surveillance by the United States government had gone too far and was suppressing individuals’ freedoms. I spent a long time researching for this essay. When I went to sort through it all I had found that I had gathered way too much information and I had not organized it in any useful way. This put me behind the rest of the class in the writing process. I was still typing down to the very last day, while everyone else was editing, which hurt the quality of my essay. I did, however, learn from these mistakes. In my second essay, Proposing a Solution (PaS), I proposed a solution to the algae problem in Western Lake Erie. I feel I did much better at researching for this paper. I collected less information and only kept the information that I knew would be useful in writing the essay. This saved time which allowed me to put more effort into the quality of the writing. For this reason my PaS essay was much better than my AaP. This improvement shows that I have improved enough to earn credit for this course.
My writing skills which I have worked on over the few months I have been in English 102 have changed quite a bit in my opinion. There are many things which I have improved upon that were amongst my weaker writing skills when the year began. On the opposite side of that point, there are also many things which I still need to improve upon if I want to truly elevate my writing to a level that I will be confident in. Finally, I have gained new skills outside of writing from this class, particularly the activities which we did in class at various points throughout the year. These things all cumulate together to give me an appreciation of English courses which I did not previously have.
Overall I think that my most of my writing habits have improved and for the ones that have not I know what they are and what I need to do to improve them. My strengths that I already had as
I feel I have significantly improved on my aspects of punctuation in grammar; the progressions Leslie suggested to me on said aspects synchronized with the grammar lessons taught in my English Honors class. I also feel that my vocabulary has developed extensively throughout the course, as well as my structural and organizational skills in my writing pieces.
Over the course of the semester, there has been numerous amount of areas where I believe I have improved in comparison to high school. What has helped me in my writing is the writing class and the in-class writing workshop. The writing class that is located in the Kremen education building has helped me with my writing greatly because in the writing center the person in charge teach us lenses and we apply those lenses to the writing, draft, or reading that someone brings in. The in-class writing workshop has helped me because other students get to read my writing. This is helpful because I get feedback from many students and they let me know what needs to be fixed. A new tool I have been using is They Say I Say. The book is very helpful because of the information and examples it provides such as the templates. I have been applying the templates into my essays and I have seen a significant difference.
