I am an elementary teacher at North Hialeah Elementary. This school year 2015-2016, I am teaching Spanish and Math CCHL. My school belongs to Miami-Dade County Public Schools System. “Miami-Dade County Public Schools is the fourth- largest school district in the United States, comprised of 392 schools, 345,000 students, and over 40,000 employees. Located at the southern end of the Florida peninsula, the school district stretches over 2,000 square miles of diverse and vibrant communities ranging from rural and suburban to urban cities and municipalities. A truly global community, district students speak 56 different languages and represent 160 countries” (Dade Schools, nd).
“Miami-Dade County Public Schools offers a wide variety of choices. Choice schools/programs allow you to elect out of an assigned boundary school. Most choice schools/programs specialize in a specific area of interest and offer our students the opportunity to grow to their fullest potential. There are choice schools/programs for students as young as four years old” (School Choice, nd).
My organization is divided in seven units: pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, first grade, second grade, third grade, fourth grade, and fifth grade. I educate my students using the Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Common Core Edition program.
