I 'm an only child. I share this detail, not as a random trait that makes me different, but because it is what makes me who I am. It is the reason I worked so hard to be where I am and why I will continue to work hard through the entirety of my hard-won career. My mother is an immigrant, the eldest of seven children, who was the first of her siblings to come to America. She worked, she saved, and she prayed until she was able to have all her siblings and her mother join her. My mother did all of this at the cost of her own dreams, her own aspirations. When she had me, she saw herself, she saw a future and for as long as I can remember, she has shown me and urged me towards that future. A future where I could achieve all my dreams and look back at my life with pride that I did what I’ve always wanted to do and I did it well. As a newly graduated advanced practice nurse with my doctorate in nursing practice, my ideal position would be as an Acute/Critical Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) with a specialization in Cardiac Care and a goal of working in a CCU or CVICU. I have an affinity for cardiac dysrhythmias and the cardiac system as a whole and it is an area of medicine that I would like to pursue throughout my career.
