1. While I did see the value of most of these WTL activities, I would choose Drawing and Illustrating as the one I would most likely use in my classroom. I am interested in teaching younger elementary students most likely in the K-2 range. While I was reading many of the WTL activities, I kept thinking many of these seemed too complex and require too much prior knowledge to use with kindergartners who are just beginning to read and write. However, I can see this as being the perfect tool for my classroom. I have read that young children put more detail into their illustrations and explaining them than they do in their writing at this age. I like how the article states that drawings help most students understand more complex ideas as well as remember the information better. I think this activity would be a good way for the students to get to do something fun (drawing,) get some practice at writing, as well as a great way for me to see what they think and understand.

2. An example of how I would apply the Drawing and Illustrating WTL activity in a K-1 classroom would involve learning about the life cycle of a caterpillar. First we would have a read aloud of a book such as The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle, and then we would have a lesson/ discussion as a class.
