I 've proven myself capable with aptitudes in various vocations. Primarily, I 've worked in the abstract field of mental health, and done so for the better part of the past five years. I have a natural intuition when it comes to troubleshooting and problem solving in social situations concerning difficult people. I have excelled in my last few places of employment because of my understanding and patience in learning about individuals. While working full time directing a residential boarding school in Utah, I simultaneously attended college, working to earn a degree in Family Studies. I loved the fundamentals of Family Studies; Everybody has a family in some way and everybody enjoys or gets frustrated by the dichotomies that make up thier …show more content…
My goal is simple; I plan to be the best technician that I can for the company I work for, I feel this rudimentary goal lends itself to making me better as a person and an employee; It catalyzes the progression of the industry itself; the duality being that I make myself a better producer, therefore making the company and that I work for better and open to making more breakthroughs in the field. I have a firm understanding that goals are not merely achieved by saying them out loud or scribbling them down, but by unabashed planning and bold follow through. I plan to educate myself lifelong in this industry. This includes seeking advanced degrees in nuclear technology, instrumentation and controls, and even engineering. Specifically I would like to apply the degree from this program to the online Bachelor of Science offered by Excelsior, working all the while. Upon completing the online degree, I will outline further steps into eventually achieving a Master’s degree in a related discipline that applies to this industry. In addition to academic pursuits, I believe practical education is gained by experience. I am determined to travel as a instrumentation and controls technician to understand and know the strengths and opportunities in different nuclear facilities. I have a family and my
This question is a good time to show that you are looking for more than just a career. Reiterate that you believe caring guidance early in life will help make the future world a better place.
My personal and educational experiences have influenced my desire in pursuing my degree in Marriage & Family Therapy. My last semester of college, I was interning at Care Fresno. During this time, I lived in a high crime apartment located in southeast Fresno. I was able to reach out and mentor at risk families. This experience has equipped me with skills, such as: be able to empathize, communicate, and lead other effectively. After I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree, I started working as a Drug & Alcohol Counselor at Aegis Treatment Centers. While at Aegis Treatment Centers, I realized how much I enjoy providing empathy, psycho-educating, and teaching individuals how to cope with their emotions.
I would like to pursue counseling as my career and become a successful leader in the field. I have always had a passion to assist people in emotional distress. As a qualified professional in the counseling field, I would be able to identify their problems as well as offer them the most appropriate solutions that may help them deal with their situations. However, working as a professional counselor requires that I possess the relevant skills and knowledge that would enable me to offer quality services in which I think that I can obtain the skills at Capella University. As a
During my last thirty years of my working life, I have only spent the last nine in education. I spent most of this time working in the oil field, traveling and living life as a “company man”. It was a divorce that shined a light on the possibilities of a career in education. I was now a single father with a three-year old little girl. I could no longer dedicate myself to call hours, weekend commitments, and travel demands of the oil industry. I took my first teaching job working in a private Christian school in Katy, Texas. There I developed and taught a new Computer Literature curriculum. With a bachelor of science degree in Information Technology and Networking Management I attend an alternative certification program to teach in the public sector. I took my first public teaching job at an alternative school call Compass, teaching eighth grade math. To say that I went into education heads first with this school is an understatement. Compass is a transition school for kids either coming from or the last chance before a child detention center. I was able to interact with many students having ADHD and/or behavior problems. There were times when my entire class had a BIP, IEP or both. The processes,
I have wanted to be a counselor since my freshmen year of high school and in the counseling field there are many specialties that I can focus on. I am fairly certain that I want to specialize in helping people with substance abuse and their families. I have always focused my studies, interests, and work on things that will help me in this field and I have a lot of qualities that help to enhance me in my eventual career. There are difficulties when I get to practice also like what people perceive as correct counseling style, challenges with my gender and race, and finally creating my own counseling style and plans.
This complexity requires more education, and with that in mind, I am applying to the Bachelors of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders program at The University of Texas at Austin (UT). In addition to helping out with the younger foster care children, I have had numerous other work experiences that further enhance my qualifications for this program. My resume enumerates the various positions I have held at Siemons' Lakeview Manor Estate, Bayonet Point Surgery and Endoscopy Center, and the United States Army which placed a major emphasis on serving the public effectively. These positions have allowed me to develop my communication and people skills, which are extremely important in an increasingly service-driven market. I also discovered that I had gained valuable leadership skills which I believe qualifies me to handle the opportunities to expand my mind with a diverse perspectives that is commonly presented at institution of higher
The career path of vocational rehabilitation counselor has come to me later in my professional career and it is not a path I would have anticipated taking. I do not recall taking interest assessments in high school, but if I had I would have probably fallen into the category of conventional personality type on John Holland’s personality scale. My early educational pursuits leaned toward administrative and business type positions. Most of my career I have worked in positions that were structured, predictable and very routine. Even though I worked in positions such as these I was often called upon to teach, train and instruct new employees. I found the most satisfaction in my job when I would work with individuals helping them to learn new tasks and obtain new skills.
These three interconnected goals alongside my optimistic attitude connect me to my future because they lay the path toward its realization. During college, I plan to major in physics and mathematics, but I expect to take a wide variety of courses to maintain my well-rounded nature. With this broad background and focus on personal goals, I feel confident that I will meet my career objective and dream of becoming a physicist. How do my goals provide the means to meet my objective? My avid pursuit of volunteerism encourages me to maintain a career path on which I may develop technologies that will help people. Once I obtain employment, I hope to be able to utilize my leadership skills on the job site as an expert in my field; however, in order to obtain that employment initially, I must complete college and graduate school, which will require that I excel in my classes. If I achieve my goals, I will certainly set myself up to successfully meet my ultimate objective.
The specific area of interest within human services is mental health facilitation. I was raised in a household where all adults were involved in health care in one form or another. My maternal grandmother was an LPN and my mother is a Mental Health Counselor. Of course, my mother’s interest soon became my own, which inspired me to volunteer at mental health organizations even at the age of ten, where I spent my afternoons with helping with children suffering from mental retardation. An additional factor for my career decisions was, at the age of 21, I was diagnosed with Bi Polar disorder with suicidal ideations. It took several years for me to learn to manage my disorders and become a participating member
My work experience as a human services worker has developed in me a deep passion for liberty and justice. Later this month, I will graduate from SUNY Empire State with a Master's Degree in Social Policy. I enjoy doing research, and I am very adept at understanding and working with technology. I have the ability to teach and train others, both in a one-on-one and in a group
My academic goal is to earn my Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Argosy University within 36 months and graduate with at least a 3.75 GPA by successfully completing two courses every session, effective September 8, 2016. This long term goal will be achieved by accomplishing various short term objectives such as achieving positive attendance/participation in each course while earning at least 90% on all my assignments. My motivation to reach this goal is provided by both intrinsic and extrinsic sources. I pride myself on setting an example for my children to follow. I put an emphasis on never losing interest in developing new skills and remaining relevant. Additionally, I look at earning my degree as a way to boost my confidence, which has been lacking since I left the workforce to provide full time care for my children. This inward stress I place upon myself is a positive force and my intrinsic motivation. My extrinsic motivation is provided by the prospect of career growth and increased compensation. In the military, once an enlisted member attains the rank of Chief (E-7), each consecutive advancement is more difficult. Being the recipient of an academic degree gives me a competitive edge for promoting through the
I’m good at solving issues. I love interacting with others and always willing to hear their stories and share mines as well. I love community services and interacting with diverse people. During High School, I worked with the Elderly and Children. I learned a lot from both populations. We did hands-on art and crafts, read stories to the children and the elderly shared stories as well from their past. In order for me to achieve this goal I will need to complete my studies toward my Degree, volunteer in a human resource agency such as: Communication Services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing seek a part time position or volunteer in a group home for hands on learning or an agency that provides services for Deaf and HOH individuals. I feel either of these positions will launch me a good career with Job Security, Benefits, Good Reputation and a Good Salary and Growth for both myself and company and

Everyone must make a decision for what they want to do or accomplish in their life. As I stand now, I have no set plan for my future. I am not sure what I want do, but I do have a few ideas. My ideas are to possibly enroll in the Air Force Academy, enlist in the Navy so I can sign up for the Nuclear Propulsion Officer Candidate Program (NUPOC), or simply go to college somewhere.
My experience tells me that I am suitable for the work in my applied experience. I have acquired skills, such as critical thinking, group communication, understanding of personal behavior, organization skills, and accepting criticism. Moreover, I take orders well and can work in a stressful environment. I was efficient in what I put in at the homeless shelter and left with an experience of providing a public service within the community. In addition, I learned that I have quality traits, such as compassion, patience, and interpersonal skills to work around others. I was confident enough to approach the families at the shelter and made friends. I was there to listen without judgment, and they appreciated that I took the time to hear what they had to say. For example, I heard the different reasons why these individuals ended up at the homeless shelter and how they feel stuck in their situation. I heard testimonies from families who have undergone many tragedies and were fortunate to have the support that the BHC provides. Lastly, the area that I could improve on is conflict prevention among adults. I experienced watching some fights at the shelter, and I do not have the skills to stop it without getting physically involved. Furthermore, my site supervisor believed that I showed exemplary abilities with the families.
