I believe in Reading I believe in reading. Not because I’m forced to like it, but I take pride in it unlike others.
People think it’s a waste of time to spend when there’s other things outside in the world to do or on social media. For me it’s hard to find someone my age reading, maybe I haven’t been looking right or they really don’t care and rather use their mobile devices; I don’t blame them, they are addicting and a distraction, I mean I use mine everyday so I shouldn’t be talking but the point is people are missing out on something amazing.A different experience. Some people don’t read, either because they don’t like it or they haven’t found what they’re into yet. Our generation is still growing more into using devices and relying on

How I got across reading is I stumbled onto an audiobook I couldn’t turn away from, so after hearing about half of it I knew I had to buy the book I did and I couldn’t be happier with it, It was a different experience than I imagined during the times then and now I still live through my characters mostly because it made me feel they became real and trying to get to know them as if they were here. Once I have a book in my hands I only focus on that and won’t put it down like my life depended on it. People say I read too much but “Hey” there’s never too much reading and doing something you love to do.
There are benefits of reading 1.) Is Vocabulary Expansion: being articulate and well-spoken is of great help in any profession. 2.) Better handwriting skills: exposure to published, well-written work has a noted effect on one’s own writing, as observing the cadence, fluidity, and writing styles of other authors will invariably influence your own work. And these are just the beginning of the possibilities it can do for me and you. I believe in
One of my all time passions is reading. I credit my love of reading to my dad, who has spent a great portion of his life reading as well. Some of my earliest memories are of my dad reading Harry Potter to me and my siblings, though I was the only child listening. My love of reading has only grown since then. Through reading I have learned about countless worlds and thousands of stories. I have discovered myself in between the pages of many different books, and I have learned more about people and the world arund me. Of all the ways to spend time, reading may be my absolute
At this point in my life I find myself in an interesting predicament regarding my attitudes toward reading and writing; more so towards reading. Years ago I used to love reading books for pleasure but nowadays I find myself reading things that little to no effort to digest. This includes the very basic posts on facebook expressing one’s opinion on something or articles and threads on reddit discussing topics I find intriguing. Perhaps it’s the severe senioritis that has overcome me as I enter my last semester at Chapman University. As I’ve gotten lazier I can see it start to reflect in my everyday life. Deep down I still love to read but I rarely find myself getting truly invested into the action unless it relates to something I am very
Before I began elementary school, I enjoyed reading picture books, the touch and feel books and pop-up books. I loved the author Dr. Suess, because he was funny and because I loved the rhyming he did in his writing. I can remember before bed, my mom or dad would read to me until I got old enough to read myself. My mom has always enjoyed reading, if she is not reading a book, then she is reading a recipe or a magazine. My dad on the other hand, I have only seen him read one book, besides reading manuals for his tools. Reading was not a big deal in my house, all of us kids were told that we needed to read, but they did not force us to read. This brings me to Richard Rodriguez’s essay, in his household reading was not as important, but once he got to school, he realized that reading is one of the main activities. I can relate to Rodriguez because in either one of our households we weren’t told that we had to read before we did something else. Once I got to elementary school is when I realized that reading was not for me. Before school, I enjoyed reading, then once I began elementary school, I was forced to read, take tests over books, and read out loud in front of the class which made reading a chore.
There are numerous advantages of reading frequently. It's an expertise required in all situations of life. Even simple duties need some variety of reading to be completed. The more one preforms it, the superior they are at perusal. Reading regularly will improve one's grades in school, overall reading capability, and future opportunities.
It enabled me to have knowledge of different places around me like the Philippines before I visited family there so I know beforehand what to expect and which places are dangerous for Americans to go. It helped me contemplate many philosophical ideas from reading different philosophers ideas to researching answers to questions to help with my philosophical ideas. Reading helped open up my learning of different activities that I can do and other objectives I can achieve and when someone is trying to cheat me out of something. When I took my car in for servicing without reading the car manual they said I need to replace different fluids in my car.
Escaping from the severe reality of life helps a person get through their difficulties within life. Whether they have emotional or physical problems, or a person just needs a good story, reading can help a person explore new worlds through their imagination. I loved reading from a young age, and treasured the moments when my mother read to me. She helped me explore the unique worlds that authors try to portray through their writing.
Reading is valuable because it can help you escape from anything in life. First, Douglass says how just by learning something small gave him something even bigger. “The first step had been taken. Mistress, in teaching me the alphabet, had given me the inch, and no precaution could prevent me from taking the ell.”(Douglass). This shows
Reading has been one of my favorite hobbies since I was a little child. I grew up as a normal child should grow and eventually I had to start learning for me to fit in society. My literacy started many years ago, after I knew how to talk and communicate with people. Reading my alphabet was quite stressful and I had to be given a hand by my family members. I remember my parents reading with me and it was the most meaningful and memorable way to spend time with me. This is because I liked reading a lot and I was eager to learn so that I could fit in with my older siblings. My favorite books were storybooks taking about adventures and fairytales
In my opinion, I feel that reading does make us better people because the more you read the more you gain knowledge.
Reading has always been a pass time I enjoyed doing, there was just something about the fact that endless stories could be created with a combination of words and phrases. Without a doubt, Reading expands one’s knowledge on endless topics as well as expands creativity through inspiration of the various works and forms or literature. Personally, as I grew older and more curious with reading I began exploring different genres to read. My causal reading went from basic non-fiction books to reading things like
When I was a younger I don’t remember if I was read to or not, but I read a lot of books. I enjoy reading books because they allow me to reach new heights in my imagination. At my age many kids say that reading is boring and is for losers. I think it’s cool to read and will continue to read throughout my life. I have read many different types of books from fiction to biographies. The longest book I ever read was a book called Dragon Rider by Cornella Funke. It was five hundred and thirty five pages! When it comes to reading I am a superstar! When I’m reading I am able to get a moral lesson from what I read, so it ends up helping me in the long run of my life
At this point in my life, reading would definitely not make a list of my favorite things to do, but this wasn’t always the case. Some of my youngest memories involve reading, and many of these memories are enjoyable. Every night before bed my mom would read to me, and I remember begging to read just one more before she tucked me in almost every night. This is when my love for reading sparked. Throughout grade school, I continued to read frequently and never found it to be a chore; however, once middle school hit I no longer included reading as a past time or found it pleasurable. Looking back now I realize this was when English class included more forced literature, and school consisted of reading extensive pages in textbooks. Reading
Many people read for fun but they are also learning while doing it. They are learning new words and expanding their vocabulary. Learning is a necessity in life and people learn the most by reading. Reading is an everyday activity and if an author writes something people expect to learn from it. It also makes the author learn. While writing the author is putting his skills to use.
