At this point in my life I find myself in an interesting predicament regarding my attitudes toward reading and writing; more so towards reading. Years ago I used to love reading books for pleasure but nowadays I find myself reading things that little to no effort to digest. This includes the very basic posts on facebook expressing one’s opinion on something or articles and threads on reddit discussing topics I find intriguing. Perhaps it’s the severe senioritis that has overcome me as I enter my last semester at Chapman University. As I’ve gotten lazier I can see it start to reflect in my everyday life. Deep down I still love to read but I rarely find myself getting truly invested into the action unless it relates to something I am very
One of my all time passions is reading. I credit my love of reading to my dad, who has spent a great portion of his life reading as well. Some of my earliest memories are of my dad reading Harry Potter to me and my siblings, though I was the only child listening. My love of reading has only grown since then. Through reading I have learned about countless worlds and thousands of stories. I have discovered myself in between the pages of many different books, and I have learned more about people and the world arund me. Of all the ways to spend time, reading may be my absolute
When I was a younger I don’t remember if I was read to or not, but I read a lot of books. I enjoy reading books because they allow me to reach new heights in my imagination. At my age many kids say that reading is boring and is for losers. I think it’s cool to read and will continue to read throughout my life. I have read many different types of books from fiction to biographies. The longest book I ever read was a book called Dragon Rider by Cornella Funke. It was five hundred and thirty five pages! When it comes to reading I am a superstar! When I’m reading I am able to get a moral lesson from what I read, so it ends up helping me in the long run of my life
There are numerous advantages of reading frequently. It's an expertise required in all situations of life. Even simple duties need some variety of reading to be completed. The more one preforms it, the superior they are at perusal. Reading regularly will improve one's grades in school, overall reading capability, and future opportunities.
I will give you some background concerning my great love for reading. Back in the third grade our reading class would always read books independently and take online quizzes that corresponded to the book, I would never take the time to read the book so I always received unpleasant grades for the assignments. When I was younger reading did not interest me by any means, therefore I would always skim over the text or in many instances not read the book at all. I found no enthusiasm in reading mainly because of the stillness and silence that surrounded the activity. I was a kid that had a lot of energy and disliked to be still and focused for reading time.
As a kid I used to read a lot and my family use to read to me. Reading was my favorite thing to do, but as I got older I got out the habit of reading. I stopped reading because there were a lot of distractions, such as watching TV, and being on my cell phone all the time. Dr. Seuss once said, “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you’ll go.” I absolutely love that quote it inspires me and motivates me so much. I have so many early reading memories, school reading memories, and some reading obstacles that I have had to overcome, all influencing my current approach to reading.
Reading can guide you to creativity and learning. As Dr. Seuss, one of the best children book authors, states in his quote “The more that you read the more things you will know. The more that you learn the more places you'll go.”(I Can Read With My Eyes Shut, Dr. Seuss,). In my opinion Dr. Seuss is correct. The more that you read the more that you learn and the more places you can journey too. Reading can take you out of this world to alternative places or it can fill you with information. Reading is important since text surrounds the world.
During my childhood, reading played a huge part of my life. I was a hyperactive and adventurous child so reading has been one of the only things that helped me settle down. Especially, trying
Reading has been one of my favorite hobbies since I was a little child. I grew up as a normal child should grow and eventually I had to start learning for me to fit in society. My literacy started many years ago, after I knew how to talk and communicate with people. Reading my alphabet was quite stressful and I had to be given a hand by my family members. I remember my parents reading with me and it was the most meaningful and memorable way to spend time with me. This is because I liked reading a lot and I was eager to learn so that I could fit in with my older siblings. My favorite books were storybooks taking about adventures and fairytales
I believe in this article 100%. Reading definitely changes you for the better, and I can tie in with the improvement in my writing and extensive vocabulary as well as a surprising empathic side of me that grew once I started to get into reading. The benefits of reading are worth taking 15 minutes (or more) out of your daily schedule to pick up a book and get lost in it.
See i always read, i learned to read when i was in kindergarten, And to write i learned in first grade, but i never really fully enjoyed either of them or cared for them. I started to get a small interest back in middle school when the libraries started to check out comic books. I would spend hours reading comics even if it really isn't considered a real book. I read a whole series in less than 3 or 4 days. Well Time passed and that interest faded, and reading never interested me again, until i met one specific person.
Dr. Seuss, a well-known writer, said in one of his many books, “The more that you read, the more that you will know. The more that you learn, the more place that you will go.” My greatest passions are art and math but reading, to me at least, is like another world full of wonder, surprises, and mysteries. I will not say that some of the best things I have ever done is thanks to reading because that would be a lie, but I can say that some of the best things happen within the book. There are people in this world that love to read, I enjoy it but maybe not so much as the next person but when I grab a book, sometimes I get so lost in the book that nothing else seems to matter. Getting lost in a book any in a way is like living within the book can just be one of the best escapes from the real world that I have.
I was told that reading is very good on the brain, studies show that people who read are more successful. Being able to read at a high level is a good tool to have when having a great career. Reading relaxes the brain and allows the reader to do more thinking than watching a movie. Reading can expand readers minds in so many ways that inspire
Reading is a very resourceful tool we use to understand and analyze information. Without this the foundation of our society would deplete because we would lack knowledge passed down to us from history, which we can obtain from numerous books. E.B. White has claimed that the individuals who continue to read throughout this age of technology will be the ones we will need later in order to keep a strong, knowledgeable society. This claim is strikingly accurate based on statistics and firsthand experience of the society we live in.
Reading helps in mental development and is known to stimulate the muscles of the eyes and it is also an activity that involves greater levels of concentration and adds to the conversational skills of the reader.
