The reason why I think I deserve this scholarship is that I try my ultimate best on every task I undertake. I was a leader for other cheerleaders that didn’t know any of the cheers. It was ruff but i didn’t quit and kept trying my hardest to teach them. We went to Glyndon for wrestling and had to perform in front of a lot of people. I kept on reminding them “Don’t be scared, you will do awesome!” We ended up performing our best and looked great. We cheer for an amazing basketball and wrestling team! I am very proud and thankful for all of them. Band and choir, I am a section leader for soprano 1 and french horns. I love singing and playing french horn! In choir i’m in the big group and a small group. Got a superior rating in both groups over
Within every human being, there is an underlying motive that puts them on the hunt for greatness, power, and achievement- all to fulfill their ideal self-image, which in turn grants them eternal happiness. This same motive is notorious for corrupting the mind’s of those who will stop at nothing to satisfy their thirst for power, consuming them from the inside and ready to take control of their minds, leading them to their own destruction. This is known as ambition; a parasite that can either build up or shatter a person completely. In Shakespeare’s Macbeth, ambition is one of the major themes in which the story revolves around as it follows the character Macbeth through his journey to fulfill his prophecy gaven to him by the three witches; he is to become the Thane of Glamis, Thane of Cawdor, and most importantly, the King of Scotland. With him is his companion and fellow general of the Scottish army, Banquo, who is also given a prophecy, in which he is to become a father to many kings, however not become one himself. Where the two characters’ roads diverge, however, is in their reaction to the information received. Macbeth steers onto an aggressive path, while Banquo remains passive. This is evident through their differences in skepticism, loyalty, and patience, where their particular degree of ambition is tested. The following series of paragraphs will illustrate the differing characters of Macbeth
I am the most qualified to receive this scholarship, because I’ve had to work for the things that I’ve gained. I’ve had to overcome things that others wouldn’t be able to handle. No matter what has tried to hold me back I’ve always put it behind me, and did my job I never let it hold me back. I’ve always had a hard work ethic, and have always kept my grades up to stay in the ten percent of my class. I’m also a leader. At the moment I’m leading a workout movement at my school where more and more people from my school come to the civic center to workout. I know how to lead, and motivate them to work. You have to keep your workers morale up, and make them want to work. You have to encourage them and show them that they can do great things. I’ve
I believe that I should be awarded this scholarship because I have a stable mentality that education will reward you, I am driven, motivated, and reliable. I always follow through with my homework and I know how to push through the roughest times. Last year I became suddenly chronically ill, and I pushed and pushed because there are bigger things that I need to strive for. I can't wreck myself because my life has taken a different route, it's all about improvising. My academic goals are to attend a university and become a Primary Care Physician this is important to me because I wanna be the doctor that helps instead of sending them away to live in pain. My contributions to the school haven't been great but I've done what I can. In the fall
“The definition of sexual harassment stated in the EEOC Guidelines and accepted by the U.S. Supreme Court is “unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature,” which implicitly or explicitly make submission a term or condition of employment; make employment decisions related to the individual dependent on submission to or rejection of such conduct, or have the purpose or effect of creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive environment (Kubasek, 2009, p. 600).”
Scott and colleagues conducted study in 1965 to further define the toxicity of chloramphenicol, a drug which has clinical advantages as an antibiotic1. Furthermore, Chloramphenicol is known to cause aplastic anemia – a form of bone-marrow depression - which has extended morbidity and high mortality1. From administering various doses of chloramphenicol to middle-aged and elderly men, Scott et Al.’s study1 concluded a dose between 25 to 30 mg. prevents the onset of detrimental side effects of chloramphenicol. Despite Scott et Al.’s contribution to science, the study method would not be considered ethical today by the Tri-Council Policy Statement 2 (TCPS2) guidelines with specific violations pertaining to consent and core principles. Moreover, Scott et Al.’s study shares similarities with the Tuskegee Syphilis Study, emphasizing how guidelines are necessary to prevent history from repeating.
Even after entering high school, the importance of keeping my grades up never occurred to me as it became a value to me. Along with keeping excellent grades, I was also involved in several school activities. Throughout my high school years, I presented extravagant academics, leadership, and community work. I was involved in National Honor Society, class council, student council, and blue crew all four years, which is a fan club that attends sports events to support our school’s teams. I also was a varsity cheerleader throughout my high school career. With being inducted to National Honor Society, I completed community service hours. My community service hours consisted of helping out Illini Middle School with their annual D.A.R.E. picnic, working concessions stands for my school’s baseball team, helping sixth graders prepare for their Iditarod, and contributing help at an American Red Cross blood drive. I believe I am worthy of this scholarship because the career path I have chosen takes an appreciable amount of time and money. Overall, I believe I deserve this scholarship because I have the potential to succeed in my career as I would be very appreciative to be awarded the
I believe I should be awarded the “BG Scholarship” to help me continue with my achievements of my academic goals and to help with my contributions to my school and community. Ever since I started school, I was interested in learning. This thirst for knowledge has propelled me to achieve numerous academic goals, including being one of six finalist for the Student of the Year program in the state of Louisiana, placing first at the state social studies fair, learning to play five musical instruments, and placing first regionally in poetry. My love for achieving my goals lead me to become an active member in my school’s Key Club, Leo Club, Student Council, Leadership Group, Beta Club, Quiz Bowl, Rally Team, Chamber Choir, A Cappella Choir, and
I am writing this letter in order to thank you for the generous scholarship that has been made available to me by your generous donation. I was ecstatic when I learned that I would be awarded such a helpful scholarship. This scholarship has not only reduced the financial burden of a college education, but has also granted me access to many very useful resources.
In my elementary, intermediate and middle school years I have made it a priority to always show scholarship. Throughout my years of school I have maintained a 4.0, or gotten all A’s. In my earlier years of school I was awarded the principal's award several times, which is for academics. Following that I have also attended and placed 2nd in the math tournament and will be participating this year as well. Another very important thing is I have recently been given the opportunity to as an 8th grade student, take 3 freshman classes in place of my 8th grade classes to get or be ahead come my highschool years. Doing my best in school has always been important to me; even though I can be a procrastinator at times, I always get my work
I think I deserve this scholarship because I'm hard working and want to better my future for me and my family. I'm a single mom and this scholarship would help me pay for college so I can start working in my career as soon as possible. I have been inspired to do hair cosmetology by so many things. I love cosmetology because I love making people feel better about themselves. I find it inspiring because so many people have problems with there confidence and when they get that hair cut, there nails done, and makeup it makes them feel like whole new people. I know from experience what it feels like to not fit it and with this scholarship I believe I can help changed lives.
I believe that I should be selected to receive this incredible scholarship award because I am a natural leader and an ambitious individual who possesses an astonishing amount of perseverance. My ambitious nature has allowed me to excel both academically and personally. In high school, I took initiative over my education by enrolling in the most difficult classes available. However, I have taken an even greater initiative by graduating from high school an entire year early. By doubling up on courses and taking classes outside of the regular school day, my dream of graduating early has become my reality. I attribute this exceptional achievement to my strong desire to achieve.
I believe I should be chosen for this scholarship because I am a well rounded individual that uses her faith to succeed. Throughout my four years I have participated in volleyball, basketball and track on top of holding a consistent job at Goodwill or two years and volunteering at church and in the community.. I think it’s important to not put all your focus into one aspect of life--church, athletics, academics, clubs, family, friends and volunteer work all create a balanced fulfilling life. I think the perfect balance is being apart of everything, because everything is what builds good character and a good community . I am a member at Our Saviors Lutheran church, participate in multiple sports, get high honors, I am apart of Deca and National
For one of many reasons, I qualify for the Nina Mason Pulliam Legacy Scholarship program because as a juvenile I was in custody of the state and attended a group home named Penny Lane located in North Hills California. At the time when I resided there I was 16 years old. I’ am now twenty-six years old and I care for two dependents whom are my children. My children are now 7 and four years of age. At the age of seventeen I dropped out of high school and became pregnant the following year. The fact that I was soon becoming a mother, I wanted to go back to school but was discouraged and had no positive role models to look up to. When I finally gained the courage to attend school and obtain my G.E.D I was one step closer to starting my journey. The following year I enrolled to college and became the first person in my family to enroll in college. Enrolling in college was foreign to me and I felt alone because no one else in my family can relate.
A week ago I almost gave up again. Saturday was spent on my in-law’s porch with a coffee and Baileys stewing over my frustration in losing my 14th scholarship contest. I sat out there, posed like an author, leaning on the arm of the chair with my chin rested on curled fingers, holding my pen like a cigarette, hoping to channel King or Orwell. I started this project, writing scholarship essays, at the beginning of the year honestly believing if I just wrote enough essays statistically I would eventually win something. Two authors, Kristina Ellis and Marianna Ragins, won $500,000 and $400,000 respectively while they were still in high school. Their books gave me the jumpstart to try writing as a way to pay for school, and the idea grew into considering writing as a viable career. While I often think about giving up this project for a second job I can’t bring myself to do it; the learning benefits now outweigh frustration of losing.
I believe that having the opportunity to receive this scholarship would help me to achieve my ultimate life goal. Which is to become a Radiologist specialized in ultrasound, one day. I have always tried to push myself forward and try my best to over achieve at every step of the way; as I advance from grade level to grade level. From taking high school credit classes while being in middle school as far as taking as many advance classes and college classes in my high school years; once eligible to take them. I have taking enough college classes that I get the privilege of graduating from Lenoir Community College (LCC) with my associates in Science Degree on May 11, 2017; the same year I graduate from Jones Senior High School on June 10, 2017.
