I find it fascinating just how different people can be. Everyone has different dreams, goals, and beliefs. It’s really interesting to see how a person can have such a different idea to yours about the same event. However, as interesting as it is, it also can become very complicated when another person’s goal directly interferes with your own. I don’t usually care very much about what others are doing but recently I’ve had a conflict with my best friend about our plans for next year. We both decided that we were going to study abroad next spring. I chose Madrid, Spain. She decided on going to England. That was, until she changed her mind and decided she wanted to come to Spain too because she wanted us to share the experience. The conflict that we are both going through deals with our different wants. I have always dreamed of travelling alone. I think it is something important that I have to do once in my life and I have always dreamed of it. I want to experience being somewhere where I don’t know anyone. I want the adventure of being forced to meet new people. It’s how I imagined my trip and she was never a part of what I had imagined. However, when she told me that she decided on going to Spain like me she expressed her excitement of us going together. She started talking about things that we should go see and things we should do. She genuinely wants us to both have an amazing trip, but she didn’t realize that we had two opposing dreams. Once I told her that I kind of
Many people go to college to get a further education to get the job they always dreamed of. However, deciding where to go can be tricky. Sometimes others' opinions may persuade you to decide to attend the college they want you to attend. Or the pressure of a loved one makes you decide to attend elsewhere. Perhaps though it’s the cost, but its possible to attend if you truly put your effort in. Regardless of the distance, pressure and cost, I believe you should go to the college you want.

The study Abroad Program is a unique opportunity for myself as a student at BMCC. As a Liberal Arts student and Italian Language learner, I believe and trust myself that I can make great use of this amazing language that I have put a lot of desire and commitment into.
“You have to come,” she begged and all I could hear at the moment was my fast breathing. My pale hands were sweaty and I felt my heart beating rapidly. I looked into her hazel eyes and I couldn’t deny her offer. On July 5th, my friend Kristy invited me to a, “Coleadero” and event that I’ve never heard of or been to. When Kristy invited me to go with her to the “Coleadero” I didn’t want to attend the event because I felt I wasn’t going to enjoy it. Even so, I still went because my mom frequently told me to not judge an event before experiencing it.
2. The best part about studying about was that I got to explore a whole different country and learn about the culture.
For my Follow-on Service Project, my goal is to promote awareness of the opportunity to travel abroad. Over fifty percent of students want to study abroad, but it is estimated that on average, less than ten percent complete an international study program. Upon my return from Trinidad and Tobago, I hope to develop the educational necessities of Social Work within third world nations as well as learning to understand and appreciate cultural diversity. I know that there are other individuals who stem from foundations similar to mine. I would like to promote the information about studying abroad to this particular demographic. Using the experiences I gained, I want to develop a demonstration that educates students on international study as well as financial funding from the Gilman Scholarship.
Every person no matter who you are you will always have decisions in life they don't know if it's the right thing to do, wouldn't it be better if you didn't have to think about it and just automatically know what the better choice is? Remember all those times you have regretted not going to something and missing out or going to something and getting in trouble or having a bad time and wishing you had done the other choice? As Jeremy Bentham once said, “Nature has placed mankind under the government of two sovereign masters, pain and pleasure... they govern us in all we do, in all we say, in all we think: every effort we can make to throw off our
Do you ever make any decision that influences your life? I believe everyone does. Life is just like a one way journey and there will be many crossroads waiting for us to choose which path we should go. There are not right or wrong choices. Yet any decision you made will change your direction of your life; Some decisions are less affected. However some decisions will influence and change your whole life. For me, I decided to come to America and it changed my whole life by learning new language, adapting new environment and making new friends.
I explain and explain but my choices are not good enough so I would do as they say. Not anymore. From sophomore year I learned that none of those people will pay my tuition so why should they choose my career or my college. Now I do what I think is best for my
Be patient: Letting others influence your plans and thought process with their ideas isn’t something that happens all at once. One way to begin is to identify one specific decision or project on which you will seek and consider some outside opinions. As you do, be aware of your natural defenses and give some thought as to how you will respond.
It is fascinating how quickly the technology is advancing. This nonexperimental study is examining the influence on college, study abroad programs and the influence on “environmental citizenship,” (Tarrant & Lyons, 2012, p. 201) in undergraduate college students. The literature review provided adequate background and previous studies to support the purpose of this study. The literature review does lead to the clearly stated research purpose of “exploring the effect of previous study abroad experience, gender, and destination on pre- and post-levels of environmental citizenship, before and after participation in a short-term…travel program to Australia or New Zealand” (Tarrant & Lyons, p. 408). There were no research questions or hypotheses explicitly stated but can be easily inferred
With the ever growing popularity of overseas education, international admissions experts have sprung up like tea stalls at every street corner. Some promise a red carpet walk to the admissions office, in exchange for your first born, while others let you easy on the price but offer very little in credible services. Take, for instance, MBA admissions consultants. More than any other overseas degree, MBA aspirants are the most likely to avail the conveniences of one of the many admission consultancies, in the business. In fact, nearly 45% MBA applications, in 2016, were counseled by one of the 300+ MBA consultancies. Often with a price tag same as that of a small sedan, and with the future of
In life there are big decisions and small decisions. Choosing what shoes to wear, whether to take the bus or just walk, and what to get to eat are small choices; they matter in the present, but usually have no long-lasting impacts on one’s life. Big decisions have a lasting impact on life and must be given substantial time in deciding the outcome. During senior year of high school, after spending a few years planning, visiting, and applying to universities, I was entasked in choosing where I would spend the next four years of my life. This choice would not only affect me for the next four years, it would affect me for the entirety of my life.
