I Want To Be An America Essay

I believe in America because I have a choice. A choice to live where I want, go where I want, I have a choice to vote, a choice to live how I want. In other countries, their citizens don’t get that choice. I get to have an opinion on issues and I have the choice to believe in what I want. Freedom isn’t free; I know that people out there in the military risk their lives for our freedom. I’m glad they fought for our freedom and thanks to them I can live how I want. Our freedom is what makes America unique; not many other countries have this. I am glad to be an American,

Life is a never ending sequence of problems. Every person has to learn to overcome them throughout his or her life to better themselves. In the story, I Want to be Miss America, by Julia Alvarez, she tells the story of how she and her sisters adapted to American style and culture. Her family came from the Dominican Republic. At a young age, they watched the Miss America Beauty Pageant, which show portrayed the ideal woman. So, the sisters changed their looks to appear like the women on the show. It was not until the 1960’s that their previous Dominican style, became the new trend in America. In the story, A Choice of Weapons, by Gordon Parks, talks about when he was a journalist/photographer going to Washington D.C. for a job at a local newspaper.

As we continue in our busy lives, we always take into account what the next days, weeks, or even months hold for us. But what do we Americans hope for in future years, as a country? There have been several events that have occurred around the world affecting our lives in a positive way. However, there were many crises that have set us back, though we try to strive and become even stronger. To continue improving America, we must have the ability to come together as a whole and progress as the days go by, setting a foundation for our future generations.

The America I believe in is where nobody can take away our God given rights. One where people have respect for our veterans and know and understand what they have been through. One where no dictator or a ruler from another country can come over and run our country.

The America I believe in is long gone and yet to come. As a country we are not perfect but we don’t try hard enough to be as great as we can. America is a great place with great opportunities that we are starting to lose because we are separating ourselves from each other. The America I believe in is completely different with the conflict and the people problems. The America I believe in everyone's hardworking, they get along, and most of all there love. there is love for your neighbor, love for coworkers, love for your best friend, just all around love happiness and joy in your everyday life.In the America I believe in there is no racism discrimination sexism homophect. America is a wonderful place to live, because we are free. Freedom is important, and many people in other countries do not have much freedom. I am glad I have a place like this to grow up in; where I know that I can be equal with other races and other genders. Also, I am glad I have a place like this that will respect me and I know it will be a great place to have my children grow up in.

The poem “Still I Rise” by Maya Angelou is about her resilience against racism and how she keeps rising every time she is brought low. In the poem “I, Too America” by Langston Hughes, a metaphor is used to compare sending the speaker to eat in the kitchen, to the racism and oppression in America. Angelou and Hughes develop the common theme that even in times of oppression and discrimination, one must find pride and happiness in oneself through the use of imagery and repetition.

The America I believe in has freedom, loyalty, liberty, and equality. We are patriotic and will fight for our country. We as Americans are proud of who we are and won’t give that up.

Obesity is a growing problem in America. If Americans would eat healthy and exercise more, we could drastically increase our lifespan. Diet and exercise are essential to a healthy life. By eating healthy, getting enough exercise knowing the benefits of diet and exercise, and knowing the health risks for being out of shape we can change America for the better.

The america I believe in is freedom. I think this america is beautiful. I think it is nice because we get freedom and it is good because it gave me a life and a family that cares about me. It also keeps everyone safe and free so you can not be held as a slave like in the past. There is not separate schools for different color skin people. This means anyone can do what they want to do and be what they want to do. You can be yourself without getting judged and if you do you suck it up and it will eventually backfire on them. I think that america is special and it is sweet because it gives us everything we need to survive.

The America I believe in has ways for all Americans to live a calm life. The America I believe in has many parks to allow individuals a calming walk in the park. It also has a financial system that allows every family enough money to raise children and retire peacefully. Finally, The America I believe in has a system for resolving conflicts peacefully and not violently.

The America I believe in is a great nation that provides many opportunities to every person in this nation. The America I believe in is a nation that accepts everyone no matter their culture, race, religion, or ethnicity. The America I believe in is a fair and just country where every person has equal rights no matter their culture, race, religion, or ethnicity. There are many brave, strong, and courageous Americans that put their life on the line to protect us, our rights, and great nation.

The America that I believe in is the one that is held dear to our hearts. It is for this idea that hundreds of thousands of dedicated soldiers have lost their lives, protecting and serving the country they love. For two hundred and forty-one years; justice, liberty, and unity have kept the United States of America undivided.

The America I believe in is the place that I live in. A place where ordinary people can be extraordinary. A place that people can run around on a court and get millions of dollars. Tackle people for one game and have enough money for the rest of their life. A place where you get paid to be someone else for people entertainment. A place where you can hold a camera up for 8 hours a day and live in a mansion and own 5 cars. A place where not everything is perfect, not everyone has a home or cars, not everyone has a job or can even get food every day.
