I work as a Non Injury Casualty Adjuster for Nationwide Insurance in Raleigh North Carolina. We are the biggest insurance company in North Carolina and we try to provide the best customer service possible. We are always high in customer service throughout the insurance industry even competing with other rival companies such as Geico, State Farm and Allstate Insurance. The down side is the average work day is about 12 hour a day if you plan on staying on top of things. With my job, the things that matters most is pleasing the customer and being there for the customer. The only thing is the 8 hour work day turns into 12 hours a day, 5 days a week. While your leadership expects and encourages you to speak with everyone the same day, it’s rare that it happens. The many issues that you have to deal with along with investigating the claims, clearing coverage which means investigating deeper to see if insurance will pay for the damages. The downside is that after the long hours, eventually you start to burn out day by day. It’s not that the work is hard or anything, it’s the fact that it’s repetitive work and you’re expected to work over the set hours in which you receive salary for. This means that regardless of how many hours you put in, there is no overtime offered or no other rewards that the employee would like. The turnover rate form my job is literally about 1 year and this is because you can’t change jobs until you have reached that 12 month mark. This cost the company more
