People around the world are in left in shock and fear after hearing about or experiencing the attacks by a group called ISIS. This group that originated from Iraq gave themselves the title “islamic state” and used be called al-qaeda but since they separated from the group it has become its own organization. It eventually expanded into neighboring Syria and has its tentacles in places like Egypt, Yemen, Afghanistan, Libya, etc.. Today, there is global fear that ISIS is trying to spread its tentacles in every part of the world. So, this has caused panic amongst the people and all of them are blaming muslims for this dangerous group. They are fearing it would spread even to America and cause destruction and fear to the people. Since the paris …show more content…
There was a mosque that was vandalized in Pflugerville, Texas, shortly after the Paris attack. Pages from the holy book of Islam was torn up and dumped with feces (Ulloa). The enemy to many people are the people who practice Islam. Islam is a religion of peace and love and those a part of ISIS should not be considered Muslim. “You cannot put Texas in a box and say this is what Texas represents,” this quote explains how people cannot consider all Muslims terrorist because of the unlawful acts of some (Ulloa). Islam is the fastest growing religion in the United States and to try to take that away is an act of terrorism (Magagnini). Sheikh Shamsi Ali said, “Muslims are worried. This kind of rhetoric is not American. This country respects the right of everybody to live and practice their religion. This country embraces immigrants. Our loyalty to this country is not less than anybody else.” The Paris attack had a very negative impact on the muslim …show more content…
Trump wants surveillance cameras in mosques in order to track down suspicious activity that taking place inside there. Ever since the paris attacks took place the support for Trump has grown exponentially. People now support the idea that we should put badges on muslims and track them in order to keep in check any suspicious or radical activity that is taking place and support Trump’s idea of closing mosques down because American now believes they are what is causing people to become radicalized. The aftermath of the paris attacks was a big boost for trump who is now in a double digit lead in the republican race. Also, since the paris attacks injustices towards muslims has grown almost as bad as there were in 2001 after the twin towers collapsed (Stableford). More people are against muslims more now than even and the reason is because of the media showing people on television that muslims are extremists and are dangerous. This is the reason why more people are angry at muslims because of the way the media portrays muslims as. America is a country which has freedom of religion and Trump seem to be wanting to take that right away from American citizens
In France a Jewish teacher was slashed in the streets by a fifteen year old boy who while in questioning by the police invoked ISIS. this incident in France has also affected Americans as well. This teenage boy has put fear to lots of people's eyes in france and in America, we no longer see this country as safe, we
An Islamic student living in Paris says “When you look at a Muslim it is tough” and his has definitely been the case for many non muslim Parisians looking for answers to the senseless lives taken. Muslim Parisians are worried of late that they will be blamed for the conflict caused in the ‘name’ of their religion. The Muslim community have expressed their thoughts on this matter and have stated that they are not shocked at the attacks as Muslims but has Parisian citizens. France Muslims have urged others to believe that during the attacks it wouldn't have mattered if you were muslim or christian ,your life was at risk and together as Parisians they will stand to
The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, also known as Isis, terror group has been an important issue in the United States for the past couple of years. After the recall of troops from Iraq, radical Islamist movements started to begin and Isis was formed. The first issue of Isis is they have grown in numbers over the years. Secondly, Isis controls thousands of square miles of ungoverned territory. Their high supply of troops and land allows them to creatively think of major attacks, including attacks on the U.S. Lastly, when people see the attacks from Isis, some people naturally gravitate towards these groups. Two months after 9/11 attacks Osama Bin Laden said “When people see a strong horse and a weak horse, by nature, they will like the strong horse.” Isis will continue to grow in power if countries do not come together to help totally eliminate them.
After the Brussels massacre that took place on March 22nd, a question of faith rose surrounding the sanctity of the Islamic faith. In an article meant to expose answers to this very question John Kasich brings up a point that when people claim France is at war with Islam, they actually should be referring to radical Islam. This point pulled further controversy as those who were not Islamic began to wonder if the faith condoned suicide bombings in the name of expelling infidels and bringing the coming of the Caliphate. Another case mentioned in the same article details the prosecution of the Blind Sheikh, whose terrorist group attempted to bring down the World Trade Center back in 1993. While the U.S. government had attempted to paint
The United States of America was forever changed after 9/11. This change impacted the Islamic religion significantly. Many Americans begin to create stigmas against Muslims. Some of these stigmas or negative stereotypes is the belief that Muslims are terrorists. The belief that Muslims are terrorist stems from the fact that those who were responsible for 9/11 was part of the Islamic extremist group, Al Qaeda.
Muslims are one of the most marginalized people in the U.S for their beliefs and their religion but after 9/11 discrimination and hate crimes against them had become even worse.Throughout the U.S people have been “Anti-Islam” and believed that the Muslim’s religion is absurd, want muslims to change their beliefs or, leave the country.According to “Anti-Islman Discourse in the United States in the Decade After 9/11:The Role of Social Conservatives and Cultural Politics”by David D.Belt on page 211-212, talks about how a post on Charisma News with an article title “Why I am Absolutely Islamophobic” was urging at the fact that Muslim-Americans needed to be deported as soon as possible ,or go under sterilization. Also Belt talks about one of Bush’s family friend being,Franklin Graham saying that he thinks the muslim’s religion is “very evil “and “wicked”.One last example a man named Gabriel had said Islam is the real enemy of America and that we supposedly “we will be doomed in war if we don’t realize it”. People are so brainwashed it honestly insane and very ignorant at the things people think about Muslims, its barbaric. They believe what Muslims believe in and their religion is wrong and they should switch to “Christianity” because it is the “American way “ or have them deported because the do not belong there and are “terrorist”.
Isis attack caused people to dicriminate the Islamic followers. Now when we think of terrorist we do not think of mexicans or asian we think of Islamic followers. In airports police search for Islamic followers and they inspect them for any bomb threats and usually its always just that group of people. In 2004 tye
Those who follow Islam are called Muslim. Muslims believe that there is only one God. The Arabic word for God is Allah.” There is really no difference between there and Christianity or Catholicism, they all believe in one god and two of them believe that their messiahs have already come and spread the word of their gods. There are instances were people commit terrorist attacks on citizens or people that they have personal issues with and claiming to be apart of a terrorist organization like ISIS. For example there was a shooting recently in Orlando Florida where the culprit targeted homosexual, killing 49 people and wounded 53 others. At first people who heard about it assumed that there was a connection with ISIS and later found out that it was indeed a hate crime. This happened because this specific terrorist group is relevant. The experience of these bullies is effecting the entire Islamic culture. Muslim citizens all over the world are now fearful of freely expressing their traditions, because they're worried that they will be shunned and hated for there “resemblance” the these different terrorist organizations. Back in the mid-1500s the Roman Empire persecuted any suspected Christians so throughout the world people had to his there faith in their god in fear of both their and their families death. “Long after the threat of persecution has past hidden christians in Japan are still closeted.
After a horrible terroristic attack that shocked the whole world on September 11th in the center of New York City, Muslims in the Western world have been constantly fighting against prejudice. After September 11, media interest in Islam increased, where Islam was usually portrayed in a negative way. Before 9/11, many Muslims lived the normal, everyday life. However, the attack has changed lives of many people that belonged to the Muslim community, where they were the victims of guilt. Unfortunately, many Americans were introduced to Islam, after the 9/11 attack, thus even till today, Islam is associated with terrorism. For the past ten years, Muslims felt excluded from the American society by being rifled, attacked, discriminated, checked
As a result of the Paris attacks, groups of what can only be presumed as prejudice Canadians set fire to a mosque in Peterborough Ontario. These groups are wrongfully associating all Muslim people with the extreme Islamic group ISIS. The Muslims of Canada have condemned ISIS actions through public verbal demonstrations, helping show non-Muslims that they pose no threat and are not associated with the extremists. These grassroots efforts have been occurring in major Canadian cities found in Ontario such as Toronto, Ottawa, London and more; all in hopes to educate people of the indigenous Islam in Canada, which is based on Canadian beliefs. In Western countries Muslims have the right to believe what belief systems Islam prophesizes in; this right is guaranteed without the fear of ridicule and is free from the assertion of Islamic beliefs other societies
All Muslims are not terrorist, as all terrorist aren’t Muslim. There are quite a few Muslims in this country. One thing that is great about this country, is that it was founded and built by immigrants. This country was built by people who came here with a dream, to have a better life. This is a country that was established on the moral foundation of being the land of opportunity. The land of milk and honey, where the streets are paved with gold. So many have come to America to find their golden goose. Many have succeeded in their adventures, and many have failed. Yet things have changed with the times, the people aren’t coming to have a better life. They are coming now to ruin our life and freedom as we know it.
Violence has sadly become a large part of our society, as have hate crimes. Since the Paris attacks, there has been a huge incline of hate crimes against Muslims Americans and mosques. “The spike includes assaults on hijab-wearing students; arsons and vandalism at mosques at mosques; and shootings and death threats at Islamic-owned businesses […]” (Lichtblau). These attacks are bitter and cruel, but it is not the end of what has recently been happening to Muslims . This past December, there were multiple accounts of hate crimes against Muslims. On December 5th/6th, “A Muslim woman wearing a hijab said a man cut her off and threw stones at her car while she was driving away from a mosque…” (MacNeal). On December 10th, “A Muslim family in Plano, Texas, said that they had the windows on their home smashed two days in a row -- just six weeks after they moved to the area…” (MacNeal). Not only is this a horrible crime, but someone, maybe a child, could have been by that window. This act could have been fatal, and it shows how evil some people are. On December 13, two southern California mosques were vandalized. In the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Baitus-Salaam Mosque located in Hawthorne, California, a plastic replica of a hand grenade was found. This is a very serious way of threatening people, and about the same level of threat as a phone call saying someone was going to come in with a gun and kill people. To add to this, the fence surrounding the mosque of the Islamic Center of Hawthorne had the word “Jesus” spray-painted on it (MacNeal). Not only was this vandalization, but it took away someone’s right to religious freedom and knowing there was somewhere to pray without being judged, stereotyped, told it was wrong, or told they should be a different religion. Lastly, in “2013 Hate Crime Statistics” the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) reported that
As a result of Islamophobia; there were a lot of reports of assaults, attacks on mosques and other hate crimes against Muslims last years, . Muslims have been shot and killed, execution-style, in their living room, and outside of their mosques. They have
In Oxford English Dictionary, Islamophobia is defined as “intense dislike or fear of Islam, especially as a political force, hostility or prejudice towards Muslims.” This term was first used in 20th century and had its’ own definition at 1970s. Particularly, after the 11 September events -which a radical Islamic group claimed its responsibility- in U.S.A. most of the non-Muslims in the world knew the Muslims with violence. The Berkeley Institute on Racism Studies says that Islam is often seen as a religion of violence which supports terrorism and has a violent political ideology. This perception of Islam is enlarging globally more and more because of some reasons such as terrorist attacks in non-Muslim countries, effect of media on the people, misunderstanding of Islam, and lack of the true representative
After 9/11 has induced negative attitudes towards Muslim peoples who tend to be strongly associated with any act of terrorism. The media has played a colossal role in developing such negative association wherein it constantly portrays Muslim people in combination with violent terrorist acts. It does so in a way that they both go hand-and-hand. In other words, it has made it as though the Islamic religion is synonymous with terrorism. The media has perpetuated Muslim stereotypes over the years that followed the 9/11 incident. Because of this, society has developed, and still has developed, this prejudiced mindset about the Islamic religion and the Muslim communities around the world. People immediately assume that any violent act being
