Identical Twins: Not so “Identical” After All
Most people think of twins as being exactly alike in every aspect. Sure, some twins have a lot in common, but not Krista and Rachel. Krista and Rachel are my best friends. They are monozygotic twins. Monozygotic twins are formed when one fertilized zygote (egg) splits into two, creating two embryos (Gurevich). Since they share the same DNA, they should have a lot in common; however, they are polar opposites with only a few similarities. Their appearances are different, their personalities are different, and their interests are different. They may be “identical” twins but, sometimes it is hard to remember that they are even related.
Krista is a girl who is about average height. She has short, blonde hair that she chemically straightens a few times a year. Her natural hair is a frizzy mess. She has a rounded face that is covered in acne and she has a nose piercing. Krista hides her teeth when she smiles. She often covers her face with concealer, eyeshadow, and mascara. She has glasses but most days she wears contacts. Her style is awesome. Most days Krista is dressed like a country girl. She usually wears cowboy boots, jeans, and flannel shirts. When she isn’t dressed like a country girl, she’s dressed like a punk rock girl in tight skinny jeans and a Greenday shirt.
Rachel, on the other

She likes video games, but only games like Mario Kart. She likes to watch videos on vine more than she likes to watch videos on YouTube. She absolutely loathes anything scary. She plays violin and ukulele. She loves anime and she goes to conventions all the time. She always dresses up as her favorite characters. She also likes to go to church a lot because her church participates in a lot of events to benefit the less fortunate. She enjoys helping people. While Krista likes punk rock music, Rachel enjoys electronic music. Finally, Rachel likes The Walking Dead comics more than she likes the television
The biography Identical Strangers by Elyse Schein and Paula Bernstein is about twins that got separated at birth, and now are finding out there is another person in the world with their exact DNA. They were part of a study on separated twins. It was to see in nature versus nurture which one has more of an impact. (31-32) Identical twins were easiest to study because of their identical DNA. Scientists working on the study placed both girls in a family in which are very similar; therefore, they both have a brother that is a couple years older than them. They find out about the other twin, and Paula is having their
4. Temperaments: Calm, but when she is angry becomes a firecracker. She has a potty mouth, the Greg hates, but she doesn’t care. Overall is a great girl and very down to earth. Sometimes she is overly dramatic, but makes sure her reasoning for it is legitimate. She can be very emotional at times, also.
Identical twins look so similar because identical twins have the same genetic makeup, meaning, the same DNA (same nitrogenous bases). This is because by they are fertilized by the same egg, making them identical.
Identical twins are many times seen as genetic reproductions representing variations from twin to the other twin and are created because of environmental factors (Cervone & Pervin, 2010). Since identical twins share identical genetics, his or her personality seems to also share similarities. Moreover, the environment can impact fraternal twins, resulting in fraternal twins personalities and his or her characteristics similar to each other. For example, identical twins. Some research shows twins that are raised in the same residence have little differences from those who are raised in a different home.
3. What is the difference between MZ and DZ twins? The difference between MZ and DZ twins is MZ twins are monozygotic twins which means that they are identical because they have mono (one) placenta. The DZ twins are dizygotic twins, they are fraternal twins and did not share the same placenta. DZ twins are not identical. MZ twins are genetically identical, DZ twins have only 50 percent of their genes in common. Some studies have shown that identical (MZ) twins raised apart and have never met have nearly identical behaviors. Identical (MZ) twins are much closer than fraternal twins. I personally have seen this because I am the mother of MZ twins. My boys are identical in every way. They are actually mirror image identical twins. Their hair is exactly opposite in the way that their hair lays in the back of their head. One has a cow lick in the front on the left side and the other has a widow’s peak on the left side in the front. One has a freckle on the back of his neck on the left side and the other has a freckle in the exact spot on the opposite side of his neck. When the boys started rolling, one rolled left and the other rolled right. When they started crawling, one crawled forward and the other backward. Their teeth
Twins, share a bond that no parent, child or sibling relationship can ever compare. There are two main types of twins, and these include: monozygotic (identical) twins and dizygotic (fraternal) twins, and they are compared by their emotional, behavioural, and cognitive similarities. (Robert Plomin, 1997). According to Social Issues Referencing, 2007, whereas Identical twins are formed from a single (mono) zygote and are genetic “carbon copies”, fraternal twins develop from two (di) separate zygotes, as a result of two eggs being fertilized by two sperms independently. (Social Issues Referencing, 2007, para. 8)
1. What are identical twins? What explains any differences they may develop? Identical twins are twins that develop from the same fertilized egg. Differences in their environment are what explains any differences they may develop.
Music with some stress occasionally and she likes to talk to people that are trustworthy to her. She deals with conflict by simply walking away. It complements the power she know she has over herself. Her close friends would describe her as thoughtful, caring, and dramatic. She listens to stories from strangers just to hear them out and assure they’re heard and cared for. She's soft in soft moments from movie scenes to actual real-life touching situations asserting her emotion in all ways. She’s also dramatic. When she’s dramatic it’s “over the top dramatic,” especially when the problems are simple. She’d choose to have mind reading ability out of any superpower. She would like to further understand the human mind. She also believes in spirits and demons and she’s interested in ghost topics. But she doesn’t believe in aliens or any other extra terrestrial organisms. She’s not that big of a science geek. Science is her least favorite class subject. Also we touched on world topics. If she could be anyone else in time she’d go back in time and be Dr. Martin Luther King. She’d be Dr. King to be one of the first black to step ahead to vocalize what was going on in a sad America. She wouldn’t change a bit of his role, she’d be him, serving the country no different that the real MLK did. To her, success is “accomplishing any desirable goals.” So she can see in her eyes that everyone is successful no matter what
Her personality is a little odd. She is clever, self destructive, funny. She is also a really flirty person even though she has a boyfriend she constantly flirts with Miles. She has a moody personality. She can be happy but really sad at the same time she can shut people out and not talk with anyone.
Monozygotic twins: Monozygotic twins are also known as identical twins. These twins start their life as one egg which is fertilized by one sperm and latter splits into two eggs much earlier in the gestational period. These are very rare and have no link to heredity. But studies reveal that only one of four conceptions of twins is identical. Therefore, it seems likely that any differences between twins will have to be caused by environment rather than by genetics.
She has a habit of licking her lips, and she finds repeating herself more than once very irritating. She likes to relax on the couch with four simple things, the t.v, food, her dog, and no one else around. During her spare it is spent with her dog on a walk while listening to music. The kind of music Bella listens to is everyone's favorite, Twenty One Pilots. Just like me Bella does not read that often and does not have a favorite book, but she does like to “study”. When she says study she means, no homework because she does not study. Other than Bella being a creative, bright, and caring person, she also has a good self image. Bella likes her height because she is not to tall and not to short, but do not forget your not done
A con that happens often with twins is appearance. Whether identical or not, somehow people always state that they look the same. There is no individualism. One would say that it would be cool to have someone that looks like you, but it’s the total opposite. We often pick clothing to represent our personality, or to break away from the crowd. Clothing for
Throughout history, across all cultures, people have been fascinated with twins. In addition to interest in the close emotional ties and biological similarities that twins may share, reports of special twin languages and twin extrasensory perception (ESP) help people to explore ideas of what it means to be human. How similar or different are they to each other? How important are genes and environment for development? Because identical twins share all of their genes, it is the environment—rather than genetics—that accounts for any differences between them.
Kyndra has a lot of likes, but she has even more dislikes. Some of Kyndra's likes are sleeping, food, and movies. She loves to watch romantic movies. Her favorite movie is the notebook just because it is so cute. Kyndra also loves food, but she's such a picky eater I do
Have you ever been jealous of twins in public or on a television show? Well you should be because having a twin is fun twins always have a friend and they can share everything.
