Immigrants are a major part of the society. Having immigrants is what makes our community what it is today. Thanks to immigration, we have all the things we do today. Immigrants assisted in building this country, by emigrating from their former home in this new land. They left everything behind in their old country, in order to improve their lives for themselves and for their future kids. The United States stands to benefit economically, socially, and politically by having immigrants from all around the world. Every type of immigrants has different stories. American citizens have no idea of what immigrants go through or why they decided to migrate to the United States. Immigrants and their children are relied on to replace workers or to fill in new jobs. In 2010, there were 23.1 million foreign born people, involved in the work force. In the Restaurant industry, immigrants make up the majority of 12 million workers, and also make make of 70% of work cities like New York, and in Chicago. Immigrants contribute to our economy by working unwanted jobs and receiving minimal wage due to their citizenship.
Immigrants contribute to the economy by paying taxes to the state and local every year. Immigrants pay about an 8% out of their incomes to the state and local taxes. This is an estimate about $11.74 billion each year. Due to citizenship immigrants work with fake social security and find a job using it. In 2010, there were about 1.8 million immigrants who either worked with fake or stolen social security. With employers who don't know if a social security is either fake or don't look close enough to notice it would ignore or wouldn't show much importance to it and hire them. Especially when undocumented workers make a major part of the work force. According to Bloomberg.com, in 2014 there was 11.3 million undocumented immigrants in the U.S. Those working make up 5.1% of the nation’s workforce as of 2012. If these undocumented workers were to be removed, it would about 8.1 million from the American Labor. There wouldn’t be enough workers to fill it in. The employment rate wouldn’t decrease, it would be either the same or it would increase. Undocumented immigrants also make the majority of service work, for an example as maids, cooks, groundskeeper, and construction. Unemployment would increase and the economy would change
