Impacts of Human Behavior on the Environment 2 Environmental psychology is the study of the link between human behavior, the direct impact on the environment, and the psychology of humans. The physical or manmade environment such as building houses or workplaces, and natural environments in nature, are all important parts of environmental psychology. The study that includes environmental psychology is diverse and requires more studies to determine what changes need to be made. Modern technology such as, the development

Pollution harms the atmosphere from pollutants that travel into the atmosphere by chemicals such as smoke from coal that creates acid rain. Sustainable resources can help the environment heal and maintain the psychological health of humans. Some of the resources are replanting forests after they have been logged or burned by forest fires, encouraging and using products that are able to be recycled. Using reusable shopping bags instead of plastic, driving hybrid vehicles and using public transportation systems instead of driving everywhere alone are all methods of reducing pollution and decreasing resources. One new product on the market is bamboo. The bamboo tree grows at an astounding rate and the wood has a hardness that makes the bamboo more desirable for contractors. Bamboo is being used for kitchen tools such as cutting boards and wooden spoons. The wood does not stain and lasts longer than traditional woods. Planting bamboo groves is renewing part of the environment by replacing other vegetation that has been removed. As a demand increases for the product, advance planning and planting of the bamboo will ensure that the resource does not run out. The solution is a winning solution for the environment and the humans who demand the product. Encouraging the decreased use of fossil fuels will help eliminate pollution as well as help the

Get AccessPollution is one of the biggest global killers, affecting nearly 100 million people. Pollution comes in many different forms and affects the world and the environment in many different ways. Along with the best known pollutants such as water, air, and land, there are other pollutants that many people do not know much about. These include light, noise, thermal, and household pollution and are all just as damaging as the most known ones. Pollution is an introduction of a harmful or poisonous substance into the environment that has a negative effect on life around it. Pollution is deadly, and it is destroying the only world suitable for life. Pollution is a
The U.S obtains more than 84% of its energy from fossil fuels including oil, coal and natural gas. This is because people rely on it to heat their homes, power industries, run vehicles, manufacturing, and provision of electricity. It is apparent that the country’s transportation industry highly depends on conventional petroleum oil, which is responsible for global warming, thus threatening economic opulence and national security. Apart from that, increasing consumption of fossil fuels have elevated health problems in the state, destroyed wild places, and polluted the environment. After conducting Environmental Impact Assessment, projections showed that the world energy consumption would increase by more than 56% between 2010 and 2040. However, fossil fuels will cater for more than 80% of the total energy used in 2040. Sadly, it will be a trajectory to alter the world’s climate, as well as, weaken the global security environment. Importantly, the rate at which the US relies on fossil fuels needs to reduce since it has adverse effects on the planet’s supplies. The society needs to realize that fossil fuels are nonrenewable, thus taking millions of years to form (Huebner, 2003). Notably, the country can reduce dependency on fossil fuels by practicing energy conservation and efficiency,
The biosphere consists of a compound infusion of gases; the main components are oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide. The concentration of these gases have been changing for many years. For the most part, this is influenced by human activity. In a persistent effort to improve the quality and longevity of life, humans (particularly in industrialized societies) have tendencies to negatively impact the environment, and at the same time, we strive to replenish what we have nearly depleted to balance the scale.
Pollution can cause changes in the planet’s energy balance, such as changes in the greenhouse effect, which affects the amount of heat retained by Earth’s atmosphere, variations in the sun’s energy reaching Earth changes in the reflectivity of Earth’s atmosphere and surface. The changes have changed the climate many times which have an effect on humans also. (NRC EPA. 2010) Our planet can is good at reusing waste but humans are producing more than what the Earth can handle. Pollution happened at different stages and it has an impact on all living things including species and humans. Unfortunately, humans are the most polluting species.
Air pollution causes great damage to the environment. These damages include acid rain, eutrophication, haze, ozone depletion, global climate change, etc. "Acid rain is precipitation containing harmful amounts of nitric and sulfuric acids."Acid
Another reason is by using natural gas in making electricity instead of coal because coal emits a huge supply of carbon dioxide into the air. So by using natural gas instead of coal it would reduce air pollution as a whole.
Water: Pollution affects our water through rain clouds, because if the pollution gets into the rain clouds, it makes the water in the cloud more acidic, and if it becomes acidic enough it turns to acid rain, which is obviously not good to drink, wash, or use.
The environment is negatively affected be the burning of fossil fuels. The affects of the gases contribute to global warming, along with acid rain and polluted air. This pollution cuts short an estimated 30,000 American lives according to the Clean Air Task Force (Rich). The United States must stop using fossil fuels because the gases produce harm the environment we live causing harm to come all the citizens. “The future of energy production will
(Reference, feb 2013) Pollution can damage plants, trees, lakes, crops, oceans, animals and people. Pollution harms animals by destroying their habitats and food resources. Without recourses, certain plants and animals will die off and might become extinct. Earth is slowly being destroyed by pollution and waste. Pollution in China changes the weather in the United States. It takes five days for the jet stream to carry thick polluted air from China to the U.S. Once in the atmosphere over the United States, the pollution stops clouds from producing rain and
Environmental psychology is a new field of psychology that was introduced in the late 1960s and studies the different impacts environmental factors can have on a person (Steg, van den Berg, & de Groot, 2013). Environmental impacts can include color, size, air quality, noise control, and architecture within a room or building (Steg, van den Berg, & de Groot, 2013). The field also focuses on how nature and aspects in nature such as plant formation can increase health and healing (Steg, van den Berg, & de Groot, 2013). Environmental psychologists can conduct research and consulting, work in outdoor areas such as in parks, or can work indoors working toward sustainable interior design (Education Portal, 2014). Environmental psychologists can cross paths with the industrial and
Pollution is caused by people littering, throwing their trash everywhere, wasting energy, and burning fuel from vehicles. Pollution effects all animals and plants from around the world. It can harm them and kill them. Some animals have gone extinct because of pollution, thanks to humans. To be exact, over 11 species of animals have gone extinct because of pollution, Not to mention people have died too! How much? Well, about 6.5 million people have mainly because of respiratory problems (lung cancer caused by air pollution) . Yea, its really bad. Pollution has been around for a long time in the U.S since the mid-19 centuries. It got worse because of the industrial revolution. This caused the air and water to become polluted because of all of the manufacturing factories, which uses coal for their factories and threw their waste

Nearly everything that a human does is in response to the environment. Our lives are defined by what is around us and what we find in front of us, whether this means accepting, dealing with or changing it. This has been the pattern since primates first stood up and became Homo erectus, and has continued until we considered ourselves doubly wise. The shape of the land affected where humans moved. Weather was something with which to contend. Fire affected humans until they conquered it – and herein lies the core of the relationship. The earth affects humans, and humans affect it back, viewing characteristics and patterns as problems and challenges, and finding a solution.
Why do individuals act differently in different social settings? Environmental Psychology is the field of psychology which studies the way human behavior is affected by their environment. Environment refers to an individual’s social setting, which can change consistently.
Earth is the only place in the universe that can support human life. It is very important that we realize this fact and take very good care of it. Various human activities cause the destruction of earth. Human beings can live a few days without food and water however humans can last only a few seconds without oxygen. Various human activities lead to the aggravation of the quality of air. Gases produced by human activities mainly due to exploitation of resources and industrialization cause air pollution. Green house gases mainly chlorofluorocarbons; carbon
