Q. 1. Define CAE and its kinds. What are the benefits of it? (8 marks)
CAE is a comprehensive term used by many industries for the use of computers to design, analyze, and manufacture products and processes.

CAE includes CAD and CAM
CAD is used for computer modeling and drafting designs while
CAM is used for computers for managing manufacturing processes. Advantages of CAE
• CAE reduces the error in design and drawing process.

• Robustness and performance of components/assemblies can be analyzed.

• CAE allows for easy visualization and improves designs.

• CAE aids ease of manufacturing.

Q. 2. Define the importance of FEA. Why it is needed to be used while modeling any component on CAD software? (8 marks)
Importance of FEA,

• With FEA, we can predict and improve product performance and reliability, reduce physical prototype and testing, evaluate different design and materials and optimize designs and reduce material usage.

Q. 3 In CAE, “Robustness and Performance of the components and assemblies are analyzed”. Explain this statement? (8 marks)
Now days CAE tools are widely used for analyzing of Robustness and Performance of the components and assemblies. The term encompasses simulation, validation, and optimization of products and manufacturing tools. Computer-aided engineering (CAE) is the broad usage of computer software to aid in engineering tasks it includes computer (CAD), computer-aided analysis (CAA), computer-integrated manufacturing (CIM),computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), material requirements planning (MRP), and computer-aided planning (CAP) Most CAD systems have a CAE component, but there are also independent CAE systems that can analyze designs produced by various CAD systems. CAE systems are able to simulate a design under a variety of conditions to see if it actually works.

CAE applications support a wide range of engineering disciplines or phenomena including:
• Stress and dynamics analysis on components and assemblies using finite element analysis (FEA).
• Thermal and fluid analysis using computational fluid dynamics
