In case VI-3 the scenario presented was a situation in which the respected Reverend Hawkins sends a letter regarding the influence a book that may or may not influence rebellion against authority in the prison. In regards to this as the superintendent of the small state prison and after personally reading the book and interpreting the message the book sends different then Reverend Hawkins I would still allow the book to circulate in the prison but in a smaller quantity. Banning the book complete from the prisoners themselves would be a violation to personal beliefs. In a way banning this book would probably cause more problems because the inmates would feel that I, as the authority figure in the prison, am taking away the sense of hope from
Religious Freedom in prison cannot be taken away to any inmate as under Federal Law it states everyone can exercise his or her religion. Congress has passed two statutes that increase the protection of inmates’ First Amendment rights. These are the Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993 and the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act of 2000. Both statutes provide that government officials cannot execute a considerable problem on inmates’ religious rights unless they show their rule serves a compelling government interest in the least preventive way. Inmates have enjoyed the success of religion dietary practice where an inmate has the right to diet in accordance to their religious beliefs. Also, prisoners can avoid foods that are not allowed to be eaten per such belief. So, for some inmates who practice different believes, the court has ordered that certain diets be made available to inmates. This way they are not forced what they are not allowed to eat in their countries.

Only credible concerns should be addressed, and the little things should not be tolerated. Inmates are protected by the first, fourth, and eighth amendments. Amendments which keeps correctional officers from violating an inmates’ freedom of religion, privacy, and due process (“due process is the rights of people suspected of or charged with crimes” Bohm & Haley, 2011 pg.96) during incarceration. Inmates should not be treated like animals however; strict programs are definitely in order when it comes to rebuilding negative thinking and

The assignment of implementing perpetual behavioral adjustment in ex-offenders is appropriated to be the realm of the social world beyond the boundaries of prison walls. Churches which are taken as expert chemists in the transformation of the “Samaritan” through redemption are respected as quintessential and absolute aspirants for this task. In Jesus day, Samaritans represented outcasts, the people that society repulsed and wanted nothing to do with (Larson, 2013). The dialect of re-integration into society by way of religious institutions suggests a conclusive perception of churches, mosques, synagogues, and temples as community organizations.
Courts will allow some restrictions on a prisoner’s access to legal resources in order to accommodate legitimate administrative concerns, such as maintaining security and internal order, preventing the introduction of contraband, preventing the domination of the library by regular users, and observing budgetary constraints. In the absence of a legitimate administrative concern, however, prisoners may not be hindered from gaining access to the judicial process. Inmates who have been denied access to legal materials have not necessarily suffered a constitutional deprivation when they are confined for only a short period of time.
The contraband charge that I received was for having a cellular device in my possession while serving time. After transferring parishes, I went ten months without having any contact with family members. I had no income to purchase stationary to write them, so I couldn’t let them know that I needed money. There was no possible way for me to earn money while incarcerated. When another inmate presented the phone to me I was able to contact a family member. I needed the funds so that I could contact them the proper way. I understand that I went about things the wrong way. I was put in a situation that I didn’t see any other way for me to go about things. Since then I have served my time and honored those consequences.
How could I not be willing to minister to the offenders? I admit there was a time I question the need for prison chaplains. And when in seminary, I remember thinking how I would never work in a prison. There were so many offenders playing church, they had no desire to change their criminal lives. One day, walking to a psychology class, it occurred to be there were just as many playing church outside the prison walls as there is inside.
From my own experience as a detention deputy, I find myself ministering to the inmates that are housed at the facility that I am employed at. For instance, before a person posts bail, I tell them to have a plan. Also, I let them know that no matter how many obstacles they have faced in their life, God steel loves them and wants them to succeed. On the other hand, I have witnessed some officers say disrespectful things to people incarcerated such as “You will be back.” Statements like that are not of a Christian mindset and will only push a person to continue the negative life-style that he or she is already
