Importance Of Human Rights

It is important to adopt a human rights approach to care and education in practice as children are looked upon as vunerable in society as they cannot express or defend themselves, therefore they need us to do that for them. Every child is equal no matter what gender, ethnicity, religion, language or ability. Because of this, every child should have their rights valued and respected in a care and education practice. Not only is it upto the carer in education practice to make sure that a human rights approach is adopted, but it is upto everyone. Many people say that being in school/nursery is the best years of their lives therefore it is upto us to make sure that in a care or education practice that a human rights approach is taken to ensure that this is the same for all children. It is important to adopt a human rights approach so that all children are developing and learning to their full potential. Also, when at school/nursery, the way others act towards you could impact on how you act towards others. Therefore, by making sure the children are meeting their rights will then hopefully make sure that they will make sure others do.

Human rights had an and still is a huge impact to everybody live and to society as a whole without everybody realizing it.Imagine what would happen if we did not had human rights at all, I can see it, imagine a world where racism prevented interracial couple from being together just because of the color of their skins.How religion and personal belife can prevented people from working together and expercing something new as a whole.When how someone gender will pervent them from helping or doing something.In which it is perventing society from growing as a whole.In my honest opinon without human rights we showing that we do not see each as a living being as wells as showing that we are worst then cavemen back then.

I believe that any concept of human rights should include the right for individuals to think as they choose, the right for people to vote for their national leaders, and the right for people to have food and water to sustain themselves. Without these basic rights, I do not believe that it is possible for people to truly be free. The Declaration of Rights of Man, written on August 26th, 1789, granted French citizens fundamental rights for the first time in France’s history. Every single human being on this planet has rights. These rights are given to us through birth, and the day I was asked, what my human rights were, I found myself speechless. I did not know how to answer the question, which at the time sounded so easy. I forgot about the question that had me so puzzled, and just brushed it off, ironically six month later I get an assignment on the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Human rights are basic rights that each person in the world is entitled to. These rights apply regardless of age, race, gender and culture & beliefs, these are in place without any discrimination to anyone. Human rights are set out and can never be removed from an individual, they are defined and protected by law. Human rights apply to everyone from birth, through their childhood into their adult life right up until they die (What are Human Rights, 2017).

When thinking about human rights is it really essential to defend and protect these rights? Mother Jones, Gandhi, and Emma Watson found defending human rights essential. Emma Watson is a woman who fought for women's rights, Gandhi fought for racial rights, and Mother Jones fought for workers’ rights. These three people helped to enact change by becoming successful leaders, being brave, and cared for people as they took a stand no matter what they thought could happen to them for standing up.

Governments are failing at assuring its people the right to live a dignified life; however, it is possible to accomplish human security for all with the empowerment of social, political, and economic systems.

In theory, human rights can have a universal application, as all human beings are entitled to their natural rights. However, for the rights to be successfully applicable there must be a change in greater society. One of the main barriers is the lack of cultural relativism. This results in states disagreeing with the rights that should be ratified and enforced. Another challenge is the lack of enforcement and the lack of accountability for states to give citizens their rights. As the doctrine is non-binding and exclusive towards certain cultures there is an outlook on human rights being centered towards the west. Moreover, although there is a huge movement to make human rights universally applicable there is yet to be a “model of human rights for the entire world” (Glendon 2004 pg.15).

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) focuses on human rights. One human right that is important and should be justified with the UDHR is discrimination based on sexual orientation and hate crimes towards those that identify themselves differently from others. The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) community is a growing community. Underneath the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), it mentions the right to protect the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community. Members of this community are often discriminated against based on their sexual orientation and transgender identities. This is often due to their beliefs, sexual orientation, and gender identities like identifying themselves as gay or transgendered. Discrimination of these individuals result in hate crimes and criminal justice system getting involved. The human rights of individuals that are categorized as apart of the LGBT community should be protected and not be penalized. The legal obligations of the United States and Algeria should respect human rights regarding the community, and those rights should be safeguarded. Human rights are an essential aspect for all human beings no matter what their sexual orientation or gender identities are.

Our century is rich in the greatest discoveries in all fields of science and technology that had changed the quality of our lives. Perhaps one of the main branches of knowledge that will shape the world in the XXI century is genetics. That relatively young science has always been associated with lots of controversies and debates. That is, in my opinion, correlates with the course themes of Ideology and Inquiry, and secondly Origins and Politics of human rights. However, recent progression in genetics and genetic engineering have made it possible to change the very nature of the mankind, thus uprising many questions of ethical and philosophical nature.
