There was many steps that helped me improve in this class including drafts and peer-evaluation worksheets. Having a rough draft is one of the best ways to help me improve on my essays because it gives me a professional eye to see the problems that I’m not able to. Discussing the prompts of our essays had benefited me because it gave me a sense of direction of where I should start and another perspective. Peer-evaluation worksheets are also one of the great tools used to improve my writing because it gave me a different approach on my essay that is by peers. They wrote some particularly useful revisions I should make to increase the value of my writing. By having a rubric to follow as guidelines had immensely improved
Writing an essay has always been a difficult and tedious task in my opinion. The writing process I followed when creating the original assignment consisted of research, a rough draft, a small amount of editing, and a final draft. Researching the topic was the first step I took in writing my paper. I searched for credible and useful information that would have a positive effect on my essay. After gathering my information, I worked to create an outline that would assist in the organization and structure of my essay. I then used my outline to begin a rough draft by inserting research, as well as my own thoughts and ideas. After editing and revising my essay, I ended with a final draft. The editing done to the paper was basic and done solely by myself. I did not use any resources such as the writing center. Along with this, peer reviews were not helpful as my group did not strive to make any meaningful corrections or provide any constructive criticism. Because I had little corrections the amount of editing or revising done was limited. Throughout the duration of this class, the process in which I write an essay has changed.
My writing processes nowadays have changed thank you to my English 100 level class at Arizona Western College, I feel more confident with my writing style. At the beginning of the class I was very confused with the writing process and the steps to make an essay. I had a difficult time developing an outline and putting together my ideas, so I was not able to write an essay with a good structure. In addition, my grammar was not the best, and some of my sentences were incomplete. During the class period I learned about grammar, how to write complete sentences, how to brainstorm and the importance of an outline. It has become easier for me to organize my ideas in order to develop a well-structured essay. An essay should contain a topic, one thesis, body paragraphs that support the thesis, and a conclusion. The thesis will tell the reader what is the writer purpose of the essay, the body paragraphs support the thesis and the topic sentences of each one. Least but not last, I learned the importance of a peer review, this process was very helpful in the class because I was able to receive constructive feedback from my classmates, and I was able to improve my papers with the suggestions that my classmates gave me on my drafts.
Throughout this semester we have had to write many types of essays. Although this is a college English class there is still room for improvement. I made much improvement during the semester of the class. I was able to identify my weaknesses. I learned how to make improvements to the areas I was having problems in. Although each essay we did was different I was able to begin with one essay and throughout the semester turn it into two other essays. I was able to change my style of writing to fit the type of audience I was working with. I will continue to work on my writing and keep improving it.
When I first started taking this class, I had a hard time writing my essays. The main reason I had a rough time was because the last time I had written an essay was in my freshman year of high school. I have improved on many things along the way. I now continue to improve even more. One major aspect that I have improved on is my revision process.
In the video “The The Impotence of Proofreading” by Taylor Mali the purpose of the video was to give techniques to help students in the process of proofreading a paper. Also, it talked about the most common mistakes people make when proofreading a paper for example, just checking the grammar in the computer causes to do not catch all errors included in the paper. A better option to check all errors is to print the paper and make the corrections with a red pen which will be easier for the student to go back and make those changes in the computer.
When proofread sometime you read it the way you think you want it to sound like. It makes it hard to proofread something you just wrote because you think you did perfect. Sometime you put the wrong word in the wrong place. You can look at your paper but have a hard time seeing what error you have.
The main reason why I chose to revise this essay was because it was one of my lowest essay grades, so I knew I could find my mistakes and make this essay stronger. Furthermore, after I looked at the feedback that was given to me, I realized I could fix the errors that affected my grade. The major improvements I made in this essay was making my introduction more clear by making it easier to understand what my topic was about and relatable. I also made changes to my conclusion because I did not think it summarized my body paragraphs and was not developed enough. Lastly, the minor changes I made in this essay was providing examples to support the points that I made and to make them
Yesterday, P. Cecilia Liu submitted a request to have a document revised, proofread for changes; proofreader’s changes entered and then cold read. I assigned the clips portion of the a request to Fabian Soliz. I asked Fabian, upon completion of the clips, to send the document to the attorney with a note stating the file was going to be submitted for a cold read. He was then to print out the document and bring it back to the front desk so that it could be cold read. This is a standard procedure in word processing.
When I went back and re-read my essay I still thought it was well written but I realized how many thing I could have added. During the course of this year, I believe that my writing has significantly improved, especially my grammar and vocabulary in my writing. Some of my weaknesses as a writer are conveying the message the prompt asks about in the whole essay because sometimes my essays tend t go a bit off topic along the

I have finally learned the importance of prewriting. I used to just jump straight into the essay without planning, but now I plan my steps using an outline. Outlining has many benefits. It helped me
An essay is a great way to express your knowledge in a topic and also learn new skills involving reading and writing. Everyone has strengths and weaknesses when it comes to writing. To turn those weaknesses into strengths, I have practiced my writing and took the advice given by my peers and professor. Throughout this course, I have overcome many of my writing weaknesses such as citations, thesis statements, and transitions. Although there are still skills to improve upon, I have improved these skills by taking my time with each essay, proofreading them thoroughly, and reflecting on my work when finished.
It is not uncommon to say that grammar instruction plays an important role in language teaching. Regarding the status and importance of grammar teaching, a variety of opinions have been made. Batstone (1994) states that “language without grammar would be chaotic: countless words without the indispensable guidelines for how they can be ordered and modified” (p. 4). More vividly, Wang (2010) makes two similes. She compares grammar to the frame of a house, which is a decisive factor to ensure the solidness of it. Additionally, she regards grammar as a walking stick, whose function is to help and support students to learn English. Thus, the nature of grammar instruction manifests its own significance as it helps students
