It complements and enhances almost any other job that one has in that company. For someone seeking to be promoted to management or supervisory role, knowledge of accounting is, almost always, a must since so many of the responsibilities devolve around accounting. That this is so is demonstrated by the following essay that shows how my current career of IT Integrator in SAP at John Deere Dubuque works uses accounting in a major way. My hopes, too, are to be promoted to a managerial position as project manager. This, too, as the essay shows relies upon accounting.

What the company does
Deere & Company, otherwise known as John Deere, is an American corporation headquartered in Moline, Illinois, and is the leading manufacturer of agricultural machinery in the world. We are so successful and huge that in 2012, we were rated as 97th in the Fortune 500 America's ranking; we were also categorized 190th in the Fortune 500 Global ranking.
Deere and Company manufactures and produces agricultural equipment that includes tractors, combine harvesters, cotton harvesters, balers, planters/seeders, sprayers, and UTVs. Other construction and forestry equipment that we make includes backhoes, loaders, motor graders, dump trucks, and feller bunchers and knuckleboom loaders.
