In the film, Of Gods and Men, monks of a religious group used prayer to make important decisions that would affect their lives forever. There are times when one decision can affect the entirety of your life. Prayer became a unifying force among the monks because they needed prayer to discern what they should do. Life is full of challenges and decisions that you must make. Just because you do bad things does not mean you are a bad person. The terrorists do bad things and treat others like they are nothing, but that does not mean that they are bad people. God loves all people and that includes terrorists. The monks must make decisions and they choose not to hurt the terrorists even though they have others. The monks should stay because that is their vocation to assist others. God never said it would be easier. Brother Luc is a doctor and he must make the decision of whether or not to provide care for one of the terrorists. He chooses to assist the terrorist because he knows that is what God would want from him because the terrorist is a child of God. Life for the monks was not necessarily easy, but they had the love of God to assist them in doing the difficult things. (11 sentences)
