The word inclusive is something that will be heard in education. Especially, as it relates to students in the classroom. An inclusive classroom is one in which students with or without disabilities learn together. There are certain classrooms where only students with disabilities are together to learn and that is not what inclusive is looking for. The purpose of this writing piece is to make one more familiar with the rights of inclusion as it relates to students with special needs, the program and plan for helping these types of students, and ways the classroom can better help these types of students. Students with disabilities or special needs students have certain rights available to them. In the “Individuals With Disabilities Education Act of 2004” Congress found: “Disability is a natural part of the human experience and in no way diminishes the right of individuals to participate in or contribute to society. Improving educational results for children with disabilities is an essential element of our national policy of ensuring equality of opportunity, full participation, independent living, and economic self-sufficiency for individuals with disabilities." There were too many times where students who were considered to have special needs would be seen as an outcast and put into a classroom with other special needs students. They didn’t have the access to the same curriculum or the same types of teachers. In many ways, it seems as if there were discriminated against.
