While reviewing the results of all of my self-assessment, the management areas where I would need to improve is to learn to be more team-oriented and to place my trust in the actions of others. As I reflect these self-assessments back at my life with the new insights in the exercise conducted, I’ve considered becoming more attentive to the needs of others by either expressing my emotions more often and taking other people consideration and ideas respectably. I hope to improve the areas to gain a better key relationship with others in the future.
Another area where I need to improve is to be more creative. These assessments have given me new insights on my skills to be creative. The improvement actions that are appropriate in developing a more
This is the reflective essay of my overall team experiences during the Managing organisations and people course this trimester. Reflecting upon the past and its experiences will enable me to broaden my communication, ability in solving conflicts and enrich my future expertise. To look back at my group work all this while helped me in gaining the knowledge to face the real world. Frankly saying never did I work in a group or a team before, so it was a different experience altogether. This paper will give me an opportunity to explore through various aspects of my role in our team. My role being a key speaker perfectly suited my personal character. I found this job interesting as matching our personal traits with profession will
In taking the 360o Refined Self-Assessment I have learned my five highest leadership skills are: communication, outcome concern, information sharing, credibility, and decision fairness. My five highest rated behaviors are: communication, communication, communication, outcome concern, and outcome concern. I agree that I do well in communication. Moreover, I feel information sharing is part of good communication. I talk with my employees as often as possible and sit down with each employee once a month to do employee rounding where we speak of how well their day is going, what I can do to make it better, and share any information I have to pass along. I also agree that I am concerned for outcomes because I am genuinely concerned with my employee’s
When creating a self-assessment for Student N, I wanted to generate a self-assessment that would be clear, simple, and provide beneficial information for myself and the student. The goal of my self-assessment was to involve the student in identifying their own thoughts and feelings towards reading, discover areas of strength and improvement, and encourage self-reflection of their learning. The student was asked to circle thumbs-up (always), thumbs-middle (sometimes), and thumbs-down (not yet). I prefer using the term “not yet” because it shifts the attitude as a work in progress versus a failure. After allowing the student to complete the self-assessment privately, I was able to sit down with them, take notes, and have a mini-conference to dive deeper into their responses.
I have received a professional bachelor degree in Finance, specializing in banking and insurance, where I have gained excellent theoretical and practical knowledge in finance analysis, management, accounting, statistics, and technology. Currently I am studying at XXX University to obtain MBA in International Banking and Finance. My expectation is that with an MBA, my strengths will position me to pursue a broader scope of practice within other fields than audit, and in a variety of settings beyond the financial services with which I am most familiar.
Thank you for encouraging words. It was hard trying to find a real definition to behavioral blend because there are so many aspects that you have to take in consideration. When talking to family and friends you are able to speak freely because they know how you communicate better than those who we just meet. For me personally I have a close net family and we speak freely to each other when we meet new people it takes them some time to understand the tone that we are using friendly. In the self-assessment it states that I am “I know how to put myself in other people’s shoes. But it also says that I pay more attention to the message I’m receiving rather than how it was received”. And in the uniquely you, they placed as me a “S/c or a C/S”. But
2. The one or two problem-solving or creativity areas in which I need more improvement is definitely the verification stage, I need to evaluate the creative solution relative to some standard of acceptability. Once I find a solution to a problem, I almost never go back to check my work because I assume I’m 100% right. After a problem-solving becomes unsuccessful, I tend to find a reason for its failure, move on and act like it never happened, and I do not evaluate the problem to see where everything went wrong.
I chose to assess myself positively in all of the categories because I felt that I did a good job of thoroughly responding to and completing each of the requirements. I came to the discussion with a several page response to each of the four questions that I posed in relation to the text, complete with a highlighted and annotated copy of the story to use as a reference point. During the discussion itself, I referred to how the specific actions of each of the characters in the story might be interpreted and related in a more broad sense to the meaning of the work as a whole. For example, I spoke at one point about how the actions of the wife seemed inconsistent with the continuous importance placed on the value of honor within the story, as her
My score on the self-assessment evaluation was 84, and according to that I “listen well”, but I know I can work to improve that. One of my lower scores from bad listening habits was “Giving in to mental distractions” and “Judging a speaker on personal appearance”.
In, Fu, Hinkle, and Korslund (1983), Table 1, displays the mean of the self-concept scores for the three distinct age groups, 9, 10 and 11. The total column, presents the marginal means for each ethnic group, broken down by socioeconomic status. The significantly higher mean score for Euro-American (X=13.54), and Afro-Americans (X=12.64), is due in part to the significantly higher range in self-concept score for 11-year-old Euro and Afro-American girls. The analysis indicates that 11-year-olds had a significantly larger mean (X=14.83), then 9 and 10 year olds. The high scores suggest that there “were significant increases in self-concept during the middle childhood years for Euro and Afro-American girls” (Fu, et.al,1983, p. 70). Table 1, displays minimal interaction between age and race.
Over the quarter, I have completed 14 self-assessments that have opened my eyes to who I perceive myself to be and how this can affect my future career path. All 14 of these assessments focused on an aspect of my personality that is embedded and seen in how I view situations and how I conduct my daily life. I took the self-assessments very seriously and asked my family members and current housemates for feedback throughout this process. Some of these assessments confirmed my personal thoughts on the matter and few of the assessments opposed and revealed new qualities about myself that I had not thought of. Overall, this was a revolutionary experience and I would suggest thing process to anyone who wants a clear vision of him/herself.
When I looked at Exhibit 5.7 Self Awareness first struck me as the most important aspect, largely because it included Accurate Self-Assessment. I think that being able to accurately see yourself would allow a leader to understand their shortcomings and work to better them and/or hire the right people to ensure success. However, looking at the list posted above by Dr. Barb, I believe self-management is the most essential component. The ability to balance emotions, which allows for clear thinking is critical to success. When snap judgments need to be made, their needs to be clear thought and not simply and emotional response. Trustworthiness and adaptability are a major component I would seek for a leader in my organization. Does the leader have
Being self-insured is a privilege, with this privilege we are given safety goals by our captive insurance representative. In efforts to meet our goals and maintain safety awareness at the local level as in the field level we ask you to take a few minutes and do a self-assessment of your work area and jobsite. I have attached a checklist for guidance, use the checklist that best suits your position. Once you have completed the self-assessment please return it to me for recording purposes.
As an older individual who has had several jobs in my twenty-five years of working, I have done several self-assessments. I have always felt they were fairly accurate in describing my personality. I have tried over the years to use these to help myself improve and was successful at my last job as a supervisor and using those skills to improve as a better manager. I have also learned that you cannot change who you are, as I once had a manager tell me I needed to go to school to change myself to be more like her so I could be successful. My relationship with this manager never worked, as I can’t change myself and she never learned how to deal with others who weren’t like her.
Throughout the 2018 spring semester management course, I have acquired a valuable knowledge about my skills, abilities, and interests. I also gained a sense of what my faults are as an employee. Consequently, this knowledge helped me have a better understanding of my performance in the workplace. This course enlightened me by bringing to my attention that one’s self management is not an easy task. Therefore, I tried to acknowledge my strengths, weaknesses, and how to communicate better in my job. This essay aims to discuss what those weaknesses and strengths are, and how having overcome these obstacles changed my life to procure the knowledge that I just referred to above. The greatest benefit about this class is the fact that you can take
The results of my self assessment were pretty accurate to what I know about myself. I have strong intrapersonal and interpersonal skills. I maintain strong relationships with others and think deeply about my life choices, goals, and ambitions. The only score that I thought would be higher was my musical score. I can play a musical instrument and I enjoy listening to music, but I don’t like to sing or play for others. Thinking back to my childhood, I was a linguistic learner. I followed directions well, if someone modeled how to do something, I could follow it and explain it back. I liked talking with someone personally to understand different concepts. The older I got, I was able to adapt to how my teachers’ taught. I had one teacher who loved using bodily-kinesthetic activities, I had other teachers who loved to sing and use logical-mathematical thinking. If I didn’t adjust to their styles of teaching, I wouldn’t have been successful in their class. I believe learning patterns can be altered because my learning pattern was altered. I’ve learned many different things from teachers who have different teaching styles. Teaching is an art and all teachers should use different teaching styles. Having a wide variety of teachers with different teaching styles made me a well rounded learner.
