Incident Report ATTN: Mr. J.H. Grayson Date and Time: April 4, 9:23pm to April 5, 2:47am Location of incident: The power outage occurred throughout the entire Palo Alto region last night, affecting operations at Terrapin Control Systems. Circumstances of the incident: At approximately 9:23pm last night there was a power outage throughout the entire area surrounding Terrapin Control Systems laboratories. Unfortunately, the series of extreme heat and extreme cold tests on the mechanical and electronic switches that have been conducted at this location have been affected. We are currently subjecting switches to temperature testing for continuous periods of 8 to 14 hours, so our testing was therefore affected. When I arrived at the laboratory this morning, I went to remove batches of switches from the oven and freezer at 9:03am when I noticed that the freezer was cold and the oven was hot, instead of being close to room temperature like they are supposed to be. This signaled to me that something was wrong since electronic timers are installed in order for the oven and freezer to shut off once predetermined temperatures are reached. I then saw the clock on the wall of the lab that read 3:39, indicating a time difference of 5 hours and 24 minutes. It was at this point that I suspected a power outage and called the power company to inquire. I was then made aware that indeed there was a power outage that occurred from 9:23pm to 2:47am, totaling 5 hours and 25 minutes.
