Indoor and outdoor field hockey share similar concepts but differ in many aspects of play. One of the largest adjustments between the games is that an indoor field hockey stick is tremendously lighter and thinner than an outdoor stick. The thinness of the indoor stick allows for better ball control. The outdoor sticks thickness makes it harder to dodge and control dribble, but allows for a harder hit. Also, there is a drastic change in number of girls on the field. An outdoor team plays with ten girls and a goalie, but an indoor team only consists of five field players with a goalie. Additionally, indoor and outdoor field hockey have very different game speeds. Outdoor field hockey is played on grass which is much slower than hard courts.
To achieve a goal a team has to work together. I was mad when Liam had to move away from Carter, his best friend, and cousin. I was sad when I moved out my old house that my parents brought me home to when I was born. This has changed me because I used to be jealous of people when they had something I wanted but I have changed. One of many ways this changed me is that I have learned to never give up.

The sport of ice hockey is an impressive show of speed and skill, long fascinating fans for the fast-paced and exciting atmosphere the game provides. This game requires many complex movement patterns to perform the three core elements of hockey: skating, checking, and shooting.1
“Sports teaches you character, it teaches you to play by the rules, it teaches you to know what it feels like to win and lose-it teaches you about life.”(Billie Jean King) Most students from first grade to twelfth grade say that sports are a big part of their life and make them who they were meant to be in a positive way. Some people might argue that students in sports or extracurricular activities have lower grades than the other students, but it's the opposite way around. Sports improve your performance in school because they strengthen your concentration ability and leadership traits.
Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump, spoke at a rally in Fairfield, Connecticut Saturday where he told everyone that the media is his true opponent, not Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
There are multiple reasons why this might be the case. Firstly, when hockey was invented, it was a time where men went out and did the work and women stayed at home. The stereotype was that women weren’t tough and couldn’t handle being in an aggressive sport. Therefore men’s hockey had more fights and was more exciting to watch. Equality has come a long way from then, but even still women aren’t allowed checking. Secondly, there are more professional opportunities for men in hockey than women. The National Hockey League is men’s only, meaning there is more development camps and training centers available for NHL players. Also, in the Olympics, there is a larger emphasis on the men’s hockey finals over women’s. The Canadian women’s hockey team has worked hard in the Olympics to bring more focus on women’s hockey. “I think this is the greatest upset in women’s hockey. They were talking about taking women’s hockey out of the Olympics. I think after tonight you can’t talk about that anymore” (Wickenheiser, 2010). Lastly, men’s professional sports get more sponsorship and media attention. It is a vicious cycle against women: people want to watch sports at the highest standard, and sponsors want to be associated with the best athletes. Unfortunately women rarely even get the option, since they cannot play in the NHL. A magnitude of stereotypes and public demand has contributed to why men’s hockey is more popular than

When was the sport made ? Ice hockey was created or founded in 1917 with only four teams . At the time of inception the, NHL had five franchises – The Canadians and the Wanderers (both of which was from Montreal ) the Ottawa senators, the Quebec Bulldogs, and the Toronto Arenas. Then
Lacrosse is a team sport played with a lacrosse stick and a lacrosse ball. Players use the head of the lacrosse stick to carry, pass, catch, and shoot the ball into the goal. The sport is governed by the Federation of International Lacrosse; the most prominent international competition is the World Lacrosse Championship, which has been dominated by the United States. The sport has four versions that have different sticks, fields, rules and equipment: field lacrosse, women's lacrosse, box lacrosse and intercrosse. The men's games, field lacrosse (outdoor) and box lacrosse (indoor), are contact sports and all players wear protective gear: helmet, gloves, shoulder pads, and elbow pads. The women's game does not allow body contact but does allow stick to stick contact. The only protective gear required for women players is eyegear, while goalies wear helmets and protective pads. Intercrosse is a mixed-gender non-contact sport that uses an all-plastic stick and a softer ball. Field lacrosse is the men's outdoor version of the sport. There are ten players on each team: three attackmen, three midfielders, three defensemen, and one goalie. Each player carries a lacrosse stick. A short stick measures between 40 and 42 inches (about 1 meter) long and is used by attackmen and midfielders.
Over the years, youth sports have transformed from pickup games to heavily organized sports leagues. Community recreational leagues formed, where teams played other teams from their community, or teams from surrounding comminutes. However, that was not the only option for kids. If the child was good enough and heir parents had enough money, they could join a travel team. These teams often provided more skilled competition and teammates. Travel teams have greatly increased in popularity. They are so popular, that some people believe they take away from the community aspect of children’s sports. Travel teams are so popular because many parents believe that travel teams greatly improve their child’s chances of turning into a great athlete or getting a college scholarship.
Ice hockey and roller hockey are two of the fastest paced games and proven to be one of the hardest games to be played. You have to have the coordination of any athlete the strength, speed, and conditioning of a football player while putting those skills on skates. Though the two sports sound much alike they are actually very different.
Every year over 7,807,000 high school students, including me, play a sport through their school (they are counted twice if they play two sports and so on) (NFHS). I have found that playing basketball is a great way to be involved in the school and meet new people. However, in the past 7 years sport participation in middle and high school has gone down by more than 4.9% (Facts: Sports Activity). Playing a sport is important, studies show that playing sports in high school not only builds character, but can also increase student health and fitness, and contribute to an athlete’s future success.
If you knew me, you would know that I live with my mom, dad, my older sister Taylor, and my dog Cooper. My parents both work at Penn State, my mom is the assistant field hockey coach at Penn State, and my dad is a graphic designer who designs all of the sports posters for PSU. We are all very sporty people, growing up my sister and I tried almost every sport. I have played tee ball, soccer, field hockey, basketball, volleyball, lacrosse and track. Although I may have tried multiple sports, I only stuck with two, basketball and field hockey. I love playing both, but if I had to chose, field hockey would be my favorite. Since my mom is a field hockey coach, I grew up watching and playing it, when Taylor and I were younger, we went to every game no matter how far away they were.
I have never attended a community meeting or any meeting regarding my community therefore, attending this meeting for the first time was a great first experience. I was able to see how a meeting is ran and how the organization works in order to help make improvements in my community. When I went into the office the meeting was being held, I was offered an agenda and other informational forms regarding the meeting. The agenda provided information of how the organization of the meeting would be and who will be going over what topics. The meeting was a timed meeting where Richard Hernandez and Bill Houtt managed on recording to keep data. The issues that were discussed were citizen’s request for city improvements, a short review of the 2016 Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER) Accomplishments, which is a grant that helps build homes for low income families and was reviewed by Rhonda Haynes a community developer. Lastly, the Sidewalk at Divisadero and Rinaldi, North Visalia citizen report were also discussed by Bill Houtt a member of the committee, and construction issues in N. Visalia discussed by Lt. Brent Abbott.
Damian Lillard once said, "Whenever I'm on the court, I feel like I'm making a statement and a case that I belong." That quote says a lot about the feeling on the court; however, what I see and hear is what gets me those feelings, and what I feel gives me the drive for success. The more and more I drive towards success in the game of basketball the more people I meet and the more motivation and inspiring I get from those people.
