The aim of the project is to study the employee’s perception towards induction training. The aim is also to study how the process is conducted at present and what additions can be made. For example induction means filling a lot of forms and spending one whole day doing that. The project suggests making a presentation which can be played along with the process of form filling hence guiding the new employee on how to fill the form, hence making the process faster and more convenient for both employee and the employer. Research survey and discussions with present employees at similar positions and research on the internet and the organization has helped me complete the project. CHAPTER 1 INDUSTRY PROFILE RETAIL SECTOR INDUSTRY PROFILE Indian Retail Industry The Indian retail industry is the fifth largest in the world. Comprising of organized and unorganized sectors, India retail industry is one of the fastest growing industries in India, especially over the last few years. Though initially, the retail industry in India was mostly unorganized, however with the change of tastes and preferences of the consumers, the industry is getting more popular these days and getting organized as well. With growing market demand, the industry is expected to grow at a pace of 25-30% annually. The India retail industry is
Well considered induction programmes can increase productivity within an organisation and reduce the turnover of staff in the short term. The length and nature of the process is determined by the complexity of the job and the background of a new employee.
In this assignment we are a team of 3 employees who work for a big organization which has more than 400 employees. Three of us are working in HR department and HR manager asked me to introduce new induction plan. Our current induction system is not competent and when a new staff starts work then he/she cannot get proper information about company’s policies, procedures, responsibilities, code of conduct. Induction must not limited to building like exit points or emergency assembly area. It is much more as I stated above.
The sample size in this research is small which makes it difficult to find a significant relationship between the data and the research question. Additionally, the research instrument was distributed via email which limits complete access to all required personnel within the organization.
The importance of an effective induction is imperative to both employee and employer .For a new employee induction in the workplace is often the first impression of the organisation so will have a significant impact of the integration for the individual, team and also job satisfaction. An effective induction reduces anxiety, nervousness, and absenteeism and em¬ployee turnover. It also helps minimize the reality
There should be a structured and standardized induction training pathway which should focus both on the organization and on the job training, this will help in acclimating the individuals with the working environment and hence will increase productivity.
* Development of an induction program to welcome new employees and introduce them to our organisation
Induction training is training given to new employees. The purpose of the induction training (which may be a few hours or a few days) is to help a new employee settle down quickly into the job by becoming familiar with the people, the surroundings, the job and the business. It is important to give a new employee a good impression on the first day of work. However, the induction programme should not end there. It is also important to have a systematic induction programme, spread out over several days, to cover all the aspects in the shortest effective time. The advantages of induction training are that they are cost-effective and to have the opportunity to learn whilst doing training alongside real colleagues. The disadvantages of induction
As we all know, the retail industry is very crucial and is highly competitive. As this company
The retail sector incorporates businesses that sell goods and services to consumers. Over the past couple of years, there have been changes to the industry which has provided favorable returns to some companies but adversely affected the bottom line of others. The retail industry was originally a made-to-order market which would require excessive need of brick and mortar operations. Due to technological advances, the industry has shifted towards a made to stock strategy in order to keep up with consumer demand. In addition, the consumers today prefer to browse through a catalog or through the internet in order to make spending decisions and then wait for the item to be shipped.
Retail stores, are one of the biggest and largest businesses around the world. They produce thousands of hundreds in revenues and they are some of the biggest employers industries. WALL-MART, IKEA, TESCO, ARGOS, MACYS, WALLGREENS and OFICCE DEPOT are some of the well-known retail stores that supply us every day with different kind of goods and services. For a better understanding, one of the main definitions of retail is: “...store commonly a shop or stall for the retail sale of commodities, but also a place where wholesale supplies are kept, exhibited, or sold…” What this means
• India's $250 billion retail business is the eighth largest in the world and has the potential to grow 7 per cent by 2011. [McKinsey Report] For a company already dominating the world markets, this is an un-passable opportunity.
Business like Amazon wants to make buying item from their business easier for customers. This is why Amazon offers E-retailing which gives customer option to go shopping online. The internet has had impact change on consumers shopping habit as shopping online has numerous advantages which is why online shopping continues to gain popularity. Some of the advantages of E-retailing is that it’s convenient as consumers are able to go shopping at home which could help them save cost on travelling and also gives consumers an option to compare prices of different products as there are wide range of products being sold online.
The process of induction in our organizations is poor and unsatisfactory which needs to change and for that we will amend the induction policy. It’s a huge project and it will require continuous input from different individuals for the best results.
Induction training is the process by which individuals are introduced to a company or organisation and familiarised with the relevant policies, procedures, and goals which should provide the individual with a clear understanding of the organisations culture and expected behaviours. Induction training can be both formal such as a documented company process, and informal for example a line manager or colleague providing advice or opinions on customers or suppliers. The aim of induction training is to help an individual to settle down quickly in a new company or job role and can last from a few hours to weeks depending on the organisation.
The Indian retail industry is divided into organized and unorganized sectors. Organised retailing refers to trading activities undertaken by licensed retailers, that is, those who are registered for sales tax, income tax, etc. Unorganised retailing, on the other hand, refers to the traditional formats of low-cost retailing, for example, the local kirna shops, owner manned general stores, paan/beedi shops, convenience stores, hand cart and pavement vendors, etc. The emergence of organized retailing in India has more to do with the increasing purchasing power of buyers, specially post liberalization, increase in product variety, and the increasing economics of scale, with the aid of modern supply and distribution management solutions. The current retailing revolution has been provided impetus from multiple sources. These revolutionaries include: (1) Conventional stores upgrading themselves to modern retailing (2) Companies in competitive
