My Bowling Center 1 Industry Analysis: My Bowling Center Doug Glascoe MGT 330 Management Organizations Timothy Lucas March 28, 2010 My Bowling Center 2 I have always had a desire to own my own Bowling Center. I did a lot of research and almost entered in this industry in 1988 with a business partner, but things did not go as planned. I still have a dream one day of owning my own center and when I retire from the Navy I will look into this business venture again. The bowling industry has entered a new era. Along with it, there are new and exciting business models that have revolutionized one of the oldest sports on earth. I will attempt to give you a brief description of my business model operating in today’s …show more content…
Build a report with good food suppliers, sometimes emergencies happen and you will need something quick. You would like to pick up the phone place an order and have it within 24 hours. Lane equipment has to be taking care of. You have to make sure your mechanics are trained in using the latest technology to keep the lanes and pin setters in tip top shape. Nothing can hurt you more than bowlers waiting on equipment repair during league play. Your mechanic’s will My Bowling Center 5 have to work hours your staff does not keep. They are usually the first in and the last out. They are your behind the scenes worker bees. They stay in the back keeping everything moving. Your customer service representatives are your heartbeat to this business. They are the first one to greet your customers and usually the last one to watch them leave. As with any customer supported business they have the power to make or break your business. It is imperative they receive customer relations training. I would highly recommend annual refresher training for the entire staff in this arena. Various franchises will provide you all the necessary training to stay active within the bowling entertainment world. As with any business you have to make sure if this is a joint adventure that all owners are operating on the same page. All of you have to be willing to put in the time necessary
As discussed earlier Westlake does not have direct competition from its competitors because all the other bowling centers are located far away from the downtown area but they do have competition from indirect competitors so, the rivalry among the existing competitors is Low to medium. This Rivalry among the existing customers can be reduced by more number of loyal customers Westlake generated over past 30 years.
Companies currently operating within the golf industry, specifically Calloway Golf, must change their current marketing approaches and strategies to withstand the recession and threats facing the industry. Although Calloway has a strong R&D department that tends to remain competitive with products and technology, there have been little results in reference to scores. It is imperative that if companies are going to market a product that will help golfers drive further and straighter that the results depict this so that not to damage the brand name of a product. Secondly, due to the decline in equipment sales and the number of golfers, prices are dropping and companies are outsourcing to maintain the volume needed to remain competitive. Companies must be cautious and aware so that counterfeiting may be reduced. This reduction would also allow companies to reduce their pricing and have more sales without the competition of these cheaply priced knock-offs. In the instance of
Socially, what is working for Prince Sports is that the interest in the sport is increasing. As more and more people look to physical activities to improve their health, tennis is an affordable option. The social downside Prince Sports is facing is some of the preconceived notions regarding tennis. Some view tennis as being a challenge to learn and that is only a fad, where interest will fade and be replaced with the next newer fad. Two economic pluses for Prince Sports is the affordability when compared to other individual sports such as golf and the availability of public and club tennis courts. The economic downside is competition entering the market and recessionary spending may limit the ability to purchase more expensive tennis equipment. Technologically speaking, Prince Sports is very innovative when it comes to their equipment, the downside is that the average tennis enthusiast may not appreciate or understand the innovation and fail to make related purchases. Prince Sports, while an industry leader, faces competition from other equipment providers as well as other individual recreation sports, such as golf. The last environmental force facing Prince Sports is the regulatory impact. While Prince Sports works to protect their

Call centre workers must be able to listen well and communicate verbally. Speaking to customers on a daily basis we must make sure that we are able to problem solve and resolve and give any solutions to customers. On a daily basis we have to read scripts and make sure that we are offering a service that is compliant. We deal with so many different people from so many different backgrounds and we must be aware of this when speaking to them. It is important to actively listen to the customer, not speak over them and answer the questions using the right tone of voice. If a customer is angry then I will try to calm them down and try to resolve any issues within my remit.
Golf ball manufacturers would be looking to achieve several key strategic goals, such as increased sales, increased market share and / or increased profitability, to adopt and implement PI’s technology. Accordingly, manufacturers are mainly concerned with the cost and implications on manufacturing, competitor reactions (and customer perception), the forecast growth in the new balls market, the share they could capture and the financial details of agreement.
My business plan is to open a volleyball court. The ACE Courts will be a full-service Volleyball complex situated in Paramus, New Jersey. There is currently no other sports facilities like this one anywhere in Bergen County. This plan will be used to define the scope of our services, as well as a means of gaining the necessary investments to open the facility. It will also be used on a continual basis in the evaluation of The ACE Courts mission, goals, and objectives. The keys to success for The ACE Courts is our ability to market effectively, creating an unmatched "cool/ awesome" atmosphere where people will like to be, and hiring qualified/certified
Bowling received its greatest boost with the invention of the automatic pin setter. It was a big step in allowing the businessmen of the game, the bowling alley owner, to remodernize both their alley and thinking. Bowling became a complete family sport with modern, efficient equipment available at all times for men, women, and children. (Pezzano 18)

If this technology were universally adopted by all manufacturers, there may be benefit to the industry as a whole. However, value brand manufacturers feel that brand image might be tarnished by concern about consumer’s “infringement on their access to cheap used balls.” Additionally, high-end manufacturers’ sales, which represent 67% of total new balls market, will be reluctant to adopt the technology due the belief that the consumers may buy new value brand golf balls rather than their own premium brand golf balls.
Helmstetter and his engineering team were very important to the execution of Callaway Golf’s competitive strategy. Callaway Golf Company consistently outspent its rivals in the industry on R&D which “allowed it to continually beat its competitors to the market with new innovations.” (P c210) In 1994, Callaway Golf opened the Helmstetter Test Center located a mile away from the main campus. The Helmstetter Test Center had two primary uses; it provided an ideal place to custom-fit clubs for the touring pros who used Callaway equipment, and it allowed Callaway R&D staff to test new products in the developmental stage. The development of new products at Callaway Golf Company not only included the research and development staff but also the sales and advertising staff. These teams worked hand in hand together. When the R&D would come up with a new product idea, the sales and advertisement staff would look over this idea and recommend changes based on the current market interests.
