1.0 Introduction:
Education is now emerging as a recognised global industry, because education plays a major role in the economic development of any country. As this global industry continues to mature, many factors have combined to make this as a generation opportunity. As John Dewey who is known as the “father of progressive education” believes that “little democracy could create a more lovely society”. (Dewey:1916) further this report will talk about the emerging education industry with the help of key features,challenges with the interviewee comments followed by a conclusion.

1. Curriculm design : It is seen that higher education systems have to carefully listen to the changing needs and expectations of the society. To ensure the quality of learing the institutions has to carefully design and restructure the curricula. It is one of the burning issues in today’s education systems.

Despite of whether going to college is worth it or not, recent college graduates have become more successful in their lives. Some people may think that attending college is a waste of time and money, while others feel that college gives them valuable skills in the real world. College will help the person gain the necessary work skills for his or her future job career. Moreover, the job that a person gets after college can outweigh the money and time the person spent in college. College graduates will be more favorable to have a better job than those who does not have a college degree. As our generation is rapidly changing, the work- force is getting tougher which means having a higher education is important in today’s world. Having a college degree is an obvious part of the candidate and is expected by the many employers. Nonetheless, going to college can also give students the opportunity network and develop personal connections among other students who are also interested in the career field.
The author proves how our present school system is based on an old-fashioned model designed for students who would finally work in factories. Provided that simple abilities to young pupils might have been enough by the turn of the 21st century, but it is absolutely not satisfactory in the 21st. By the beginning of the second Millennium, many countries realized the need and necessity to cope up with the rest of the rapidly developing world. Over the last 25 years many policies have been introduced in education. Some critic’s say that an education market has been created but others disagree and say that the policies have helped create equality of opportunity.
“Universities teach students how to think, but they do not provide real world experience, so people leave school unprepared for the workplace” (Smith). “More than half of all companies (60%) said new graduates lacked critical thinking skills and attention to detail (56%), while 44% found fault with their writing proficiency, and 39% were critical of their public speaking ability” (Berr). Colleges are struggling to adapt to society’s changing requirements for adults entering the work force. John Fawell laments this change and states that humans intrinsically desire to learn more for the purpose of knowing more. However, the focus has shifted away from this and has become more career-oriented. This shift is not well supported in the current college system. The education system is aware of this change and some have modified their programs, but they are too narrow and a broad college education is lost. Even though it has become almost mandatory in society, a college degree does not prepare students for a real-world work environment and is not necessary for most occupations. Educational policies are the rules, guidelines and or boundaries that have shaped my career as student, a teacher and most recently as an educational administrator. Throughout my career I have not questioned always questioned the reasons for the development of these policies. From the readings in this course, I have begun to examine the how and why of policy development and beginning to understand role the policy analysis has in the evaluation of educational policies over time. The role of the state, the role of the individual within the state, changes to political ideologies and the development of globalization have all directly impacted policy development and the directions that education has taken over the last century.
Economic realignment, evolution of technology, changing demographic trends and new ways of living and working are radically altering how education providers operate. These trends may be gradual but they are also powerful trajectories of change that have the potential to thrust education institutions, companies, governments and societies into freefall. The change heralded by these megatrends lies beyond our direct control but not beyond our influence. By getting a picture of how the world is changing and what these megatrends are, we can alter our destiny and remain viable and thrive in the future. Not only can we understand our market threats, but more importantly we can identify business opportunities and it is those institutions that recognise global trends and plan for a changing world that will be the market leaders of the future.
