Inequalities has been around for many years; from slaves, to the inequalities of women. Throughout the decades, women have been fighting the injustices they face in the workplace, household, and other places. The feminist movement was able to transform the role of the traditional woman. Woman were just thought as stay at home mom, who would just take care of their kids, cook, and clean. Once the feminist movement started to gain momentum and cause woman to believe they could be a mother and also have a steady career. In the book, Women’s Voices Feminist Visions: Classic and Contemporary Readings by Susan M. The majority who made up the first wave were middle and upper class white women. However the second wave included women of color and other minorities in this country. Third-wave is continuing to address the financial, social and cultural inequalities. In this wave, feminists have also had to maintain focus on women 's reproductive rights, such as the right to abortion. The goal of feminism is to have women and men treated equally in all aspect of their lives. Some people say that there are two types of feminism, which are radical and liberal feminism. According to the article The differences between Liberal and Radical Feminism by Charles Rae, radical feminism is women being liberated for men. Radical feminists feel that there is a male-based authority and power structure and that it is responsible for oppression and inequality, and that, as long as the system and its values are in place, society will not be able to be reformed in any significant way. Some radical feminists see no alternatives other than the total uprooting and reconstruction of society in order to achieve their goals. Another type of feminism is known as liberal feminism. Liberal feminism is that all people are created equal by God and deserve equal rights. These types of feminists believe that oppression only exists because of the way men and women are socialized by society.
