They say a person’s past can change and influence who you are as a human being, overcoming the obstacles that face us head-on, so that we may challenge them with no regrets. People change, people can change others emotionally, through events, decision’s, an insight, experience, or a conversation. For an example, as a kid Bruce Wayne’s parents were killed in front of him which changed him tremendously. It changed him as a person of justice. So far I have had three big influences that impacted my life. The three biggest influences I have had in my life were moving, my grandfather, and running.
Out of all of the three influence’s, moving neighborhoods was the most life changing one. It was my first time moving, at the same time I was really depressed,

I love running its not only a good way to stay in shape, in fact, its good for your health physically and mentally. Whenever I finish a run, no matter the distance, I take a deep breath, knowing that I just did something to improve my health and well-being. Running will help you live longer. Anything I can do to lengthen my time on this earth, surrounded by my family and friends, I will do. Joining the cross country team has allowed me to run beautiful paths and running trails that are so easily accessible not to mention breathtaking. I love running because of the people. I can’t tell you how many races I have done where I have easily started chatting with a group of other runners, going to cross country camps and making fast friends. For this reason running has given me friends for life. This thing we have in common truly binds us all. Running can bring together, generous, like minded people. Running has given me friends for life. Even though running has given me pain, I have gotten faster, stronger, and more consistent over the years, I’m still achieving PRs, as well as taking on longer distances. In short running has taught me how to push beyond my limits and has proven to me that I can and will achieve my
Sports differ in many ways even the things that should be the same can be complete opposites. I have played football, basketball, soccer, track, and cross country and I never payed attention to running in any of those sports except for in track and cross country. I did not notice the amount of running I did in all those sport until I had to only focus on the running aspect. To this day I can say I have learned lessons in all of my sports, but running sports have taught me the most. Running is mandatory in so many sports, yet it has presented some of the largest obstacles for a me to overcome mentally.
I am an extremely passionate runner; my primary focus is to be an encouraging, hard working team member. This commitment entails running up to fifty miles a week, as well as lifting three days and cross training three days for about six months of the year. I pour my time and energy into this sport because it challenges me to become a tougher person. Cross country has taught me to keep a positive, growth mindset and to ruthlessly chase every goal. Additionally, I am best friends with all the girls on the team. I give them everything I can offer to make cross country the happiest place in the world. I am a leader, being named Captain of the ninety person team my senior year. No matter the sacrifice, no matter how I perform, I am ultimately on this team for my teammates.
“In running, it doesn’t matter whether you come in first, in the middle or last. You can say, ‘ I finished’ There is a lot of satisfaction in that” - Fred Lebow. I began cross country in eighth grade shortly after my brother joined the year before. He enjoyed it a lot, so I thought it would be fun. I’ve been on the team for two years. I would like to run for the rest of my life. Cross country changed my life positively forever. It taught me to push myself past what I thought was my limit. It revealed to me a great community of people and it taught me to leave my comfort zone.
I have an unorthodox relationship with running. As a child, I swore I would never run, that I loathed even the mere idea of running for fun. But now, I find it an escape, a paradise where I can truly be who I am, with no exceptions..
One of the reasons for why I run, is because of the relationships that I have built. The first year that I started to run, I was scared and nervous to try out a sport that I had never previously been involved with, but I was also nervous to open up and meet a bunch of people who already had been running with each other for a
In the world today, people have created different hobbies for themselves. Many people like to read different books from different genres. Some like to do life changing experiments for science. Some like to engineer robots that could help us in the near future. Some people like to run and run and run until they know that they accomplished something. This includes me. I enjoy running because it helps me ease of stress, in a way, and helps me grow my strength. And because I enjoy running, I decided to join the Cupertino Middle School cross country. Here I started to on the weekdays, not including Thursday, with a lot of other people. We would run around 2-3 miles everyday thinking that “good enough” is not enough. We went to many meets against
Of the more than twenty million Americans who are running today, most who start do so for the wrong reasons, with the wrong attitude, and tend to lose interest after a few weeks or months. Many quit. This is usually because they become concerned with superficial goals such as time and distance and never discover the more profound mental benefits that running offers. (Lilliefors 15)
Two significant people that made an impact for me are my parents because they have always worked hard to give us everything we need. If it wouldn’t have been for my parents guiding me to be better than others I might have Joined a gang or been under bad influences. There are two significant events that really impacted me one was a tragic event that happened to my neighbor/friends, who lost their mother after she died for reasons that I was too young to remember. After watching them live their lives without mothers I couldn’t imagine how hard it was for them. The Second event is a shooting that happened at home while we were gone and my brother wasn’t with us, my family and I were terrified until my mother received a call from my aunt who lived nearby, who had my brother for several hours. After, that moment my family had begun to feel relieved and learned to not let any moment we spend together be worthless. If there would be one thing that I would change from my past it would be surrounding myself from kids who instead of helping each other rise,
I honestly didn’t like to run until I joined Track and Field. I like track and field. At first i wasn’t going to do track and field until by sibling made me join . I like practice since our group ( long distance) would always be messing around with each and our coach would motivate us to try our hardest. When we would have meets, I would get really nervous before the race. During the race I would like the wind going through my hair and hearing the people cheering. Seeing the finish line would make me sprint the last 100 m and it would make me smile because I was done. I have learned the importance of working together and learn to not give up
The years were 1984 through 1986. My age during those years were 8-10. Ronald Regan was president during those years. Other key things that happened during that time that influenced my life were, in 1984 we traveled to New Orleans to the attend The World’s Fair. I was with my family and enjoying my childhood and having a great experience that I didn’t think was that significant.
Social location is the certain group people belong to depending on their place in history and society. Your social location is defined by your gender, race, social class, income, jobs, religion, sexual preference, age, and geographical location. Sociologists look at social location to find out why people do what they do. Your social location plays a big part in how you construct ideas and how you behave. An example of this is how a male child will act when he grows up, because he is in the male group, some of his behaviors or ideas will be influenced by other males. It can even affect your gestures and the way you laugh. (Page 2)
Stanley Kowalski rebels against society by sticking his nose in other people’s business and then uses that information a means to an end to get his sister-in-law out of his life; committing a felony and act of infidelity in the process.
In life you have many people who influence you. Some aare good influences and some are bad influences. Although, the one person who influenced my life most would have to be my father. My father sacrificed alot in his lifetime to make his children's lives better. I adore my father he is a strong confident man and loves his family unconditionally. I have become the person I am today because of my father.
