Parole is defined as the early release of an offender from the prison facility upon completion of a certain percentage of their time in prison. Although a common mistake that most offender make is just because they are eligible for parole board it doesn’t mean that they will be released for parole and back into the community. Even if the offender has already served their time in prison they still will have to have their record review in order for the parole board officials to make a decision. There are numerous factors that can influence the parole decisions. Another factor is how well the prisoners behave inside the correctional facility, for example no fights or altercation with the other inmates, and also cooperate with the correction staffs. Additionally, when the parole board is making a decision if the prisoners should be released they perform a number of assessments to show if the prisoners have demonstrated improvement of conduct, frugality of living, and habits of industry before they can be released from prison. However, in order for the parole board officials to makes their decision of whether or not a prisoner should be released, they must determine if the prisoner is a danger to the public and themselves and if the offender has a high risk of being a repeat offender.
