Growing up in the small town of Pocahontas, Iowa gives appreciation to the simplicity of tight-knit communities. With a population of 1,800 people, there is single café where local farmers enjoy a morning cup of coffee while discussing the news. Rural communities are a place where children have birthday parties at the local pizza place and teenagers’ first jobs are as detasslers. As a child, your mother knows if you got in trouble at school before you return home and everyone’s name is well known throughout the area.

However, if you still insist on visiting the Twin Cities there are only two places worth visiting before I'd advise you to move along to the Black Hills or catch a flight to Chicago:
In my research I discovered that the town of Silver City have close neighboring towns around their surroundings, such as Bayard, Hurley, Santa Clara, Cliff and Hanover etc. All these different towns are just few miles away from each other and most people interconnect between towns in their related activities such as school, Medicare and work. Another, interesting fact about Silver City in particular is the progress of some major agencies in the town, and people view Silver City as the big town that provides some of the needed resources to other
One of the first mill villages formed was called Slaterville. Slaterville was built in 1803 by Samuel Slater and one of his brothers named John Slater. Slaterville held one of the biggest and most present-day mills called Slaterville Mills. Slaterville held two tenant houses to support the workers and company store and The slaters houses.
The City's growth was primarily toward the north between 1840 and 1850, but about 1850 a rapid advance took place to the south and southwest. On the north side, the land in Lowell was first offered for sale in 1849 and in 1850 the town of Bremen was organized. This was where my family began in St. Louis. The Oetting or as it was called the "Oettingen" family began one of the firsts banks in the town of Bremen and from that it has merged or changed its name into the Boatmen's, Nation's, Bank of America Family. This has been the cornerstone to my family's success in the St. Louis area.
The size of 16.7 mi², and population of 11,580 is much bigger than some of it’s neighbors such as Nelson that is only 423 acres and has a population. It is even much larger than towns roughly the size of Glenwood with a population of 2,530, or Sauk Centre at 4,316 people. But as you get around an hour outside of Alexandria you find cities around the same size or even bigger such as Willmar, Fergus Falls, Saint Cloud… etc. Alexandria plays sports against most of these other towns, which means every-one in the town has a pretty good mental map of where they are. Alexandria is not huge, but it is pretty powerful. Many of the industries ship goods all around the world. Although most people think that almost all the tourism would come from other states, Alexandria gets a lot of it’s tourists from right here in Minnesota. Many people from the twin cities come down in the summer for a weekend of two to just get a nice vacation. Many actually own a vacation home or cabin on one of the lakes on the chain. The same is for the opposite how-ever, many people that live in Alexandria will go spend a day or two in the cities shopping in the larger malls, or going to a major league sports event. They kind of go nice together and are only a two hour drive apart.
When I was watching the movie “Our Town” it reminded me of my home town of Randall. The first similarity is that the newspaper was delivered once a week at the same time by Alex. A couple of blocks away from where we lived in Randall there was a doctor and his wife was a stay at home mom. The second to last similarity is that it is just a small enough community that everyone know everyone by their name just like in Grovers Corner. The last similarity is that it just feels like home and that I don't want to move away from it any time soon.
Sebring is considered a small town, but is the smallness that keeps the city together and community strong. In the heart of downtown Sebring, is the circle which contains local stores and shops owned by residents and with these stores come the affection of the people you will meet that make the city whole. Small stores and local events such as these are what keep Sebring a strong friendly community.
Chattanooga is an aesthetically pleasing city, no matter what time of year. However, beginning a little before Thanksgiving, through Christmas and into the New Year, the Scenic City transforms into a bustling holiday atmosphere. There are also an abundance of holiday activities college students will enjoy in and near the city. The following are just a few of the most notable:
The major cities of the United States are all very interesting, after I analyzed my decision; I decided to research the great city of Boston, Massachusetts. Boston was founded on September 17, 1630 and has a rich historical background making it a very important city in the United States. “The city of Boston was the home to several important events during the American Revolution such as: the Boston Massacre, Boston Tea Party, the Siege of Boston, Battle of Lexington and Concord, and the Battle of Bunker Hill.” (Snow, Caleb H. (1828). History of Boston. Abel Bowen.) These were all significant events that helped shape the city Boston has become today.
One might believe that because capital punishment plays such a large role in Charles Dickens’ A Tale Of Two Cities, that Dickens himself is a supporter of it. This just simply is not true. Dickens uses capitol punishment as a tool to define the evil embodied in both the French ruling class, and the opposing lower class during the French Revolution; as well as comment on the sheep-like nature of humankind.
A Tale of Two Cities Jarvis Lorry, an employee of Tellson's Bank, was sent to find Dr. Manette, an unjustly imprisoned physician, in Paris and bring him back to England. Lucie, Manette's daughter who thought that he was dead, accompanied Mr. Lorry. Upon arriving at Defarge's wine shop in Paris, they found Mr. Manette in a dreadful state and took him back to London with them. Mr. Manette could not rember why he had been imprisoned, or when he was imprisoned. He was in a state of Post Tramatic Stress Dis-order.
Charles Dickens wrote A Tale of Two Cities in order to enlighten the average Briton about the events of the French Revolution. The novel compares and contrasts cities of London and Paris, which represent French and British society, through the eyes of Dickens’ human characters. The two cities play such a large part in the novel that they become characters themselves, and the contrasting societies of the two cities become a conflict. In Charles Dickens’ classic, A Tale of Two Cities, the individualistic society of London champions the first feudalistic and later socialistic society of Paris.
Living in America is a fantasy for a lot of people, but living in New York City is something even better, and more magical than any fantasy.
