This fact is essential because it shows the large number of people waiting for a cure.
According to Mark Wanner from The Search Magazine says, we have a lot more research than in the past, but the reason we can’t cure it is because, a cancer treatment is not “one size fits all”. There are many different types of cancer, and with that we can’t cure all of them with just one simple medicine. There would have to be many complex medicines to get rid of the cancer.

Cancer is a term used for diseases in which irregular cells divide without any control and have the capability to penetrate and infect normal body tissue through the blood and lymph system. Cancer is the second leading cause of mortality in the United States, exceeded barely by heart disease. Cancer can be caused by many factors. Some of these factors include: Genetics, Tobacco, Diet, Physical Activity, Sun Exposure, Radiation, and Other Carcinogens. Some types of cancer run in certain families, but most cancers are not clearly linked to the genes we inherit from our parents. Most people are unaware about just how much tobacco use accounts for of cancer related deaths. Even though cigarette use has decreased significantly there are still tobacco products that are highly popular. Vape pens, or electronic cigarettes are on the rise among former smokers and teenagers. Although believed to be healthier there is still nicotine, and unknown substances in the flavored liquid. Many people are also very unprepared when it comes to being outside for prolonged periods of time. Sunscreen is a necessity in order to protect oneself from the harmful UV rays. The mini-painting, Cover Girl, reflects both the blindness of society to cruel biases and the stereotype of the role of women in society. The flowers covering the girl’s eyes represent how people only see what they want to see, and cushion the harsh daily reality of unequal treatment of many different people, including racial differences, differences in sexuality, etc. The flowers float in front of the girl’s eyes to show that she is not voluntarily numbing reality, but the flowers are held in place in front of her for her own good and happiness. It shows that ignorance does mean bliss in society, and that’s how a system of oppression being held in place. This connects to Kindred because the system of oppression is continued by blindness and acceptance, just like the girl in the painting is blinded for her own sake and happiness.

In cancer doctors only know how to fight it but rarely do they know what caused it.
I plan to advance my knowledge of epidemiologic principles in cancer by monitoring the reports of cancer in the communities, studying whether certain components of diets have influences on the risks of cancer development, evaluating the impact and effectiveness of a cholesterol program through a deign of quasi-experimental study. Besides that I plan to conduct an analysis of the historical as well as the current trends on project data for future needs of public health resources (Schottenfeld,
After reading this chapter, I learned about cancer such as the different types of cancer that exist. People consider cancer as a terminal illness but each type of cancer has its own risks, treatments and diagnostics. While I was reading this chapter, I realized that cancer cells are known as abnormal cells that can divide and may invade other tissues. I discovered the risk factors for cancer, some cancers occur without identified reasons and are more difficult to avoid other cancers with known risk factors are produced in the absence of the risk factor. After reading this chapter, I recognized that the cancer is known as the second leading cause of death in the United States, cancer is not a disease,

In my family, we have had many people’s lives change due to different types of cancer. In 2017 alone, there were statistics that there would be an estimated 1,688,780 new cancer cases, and 600,920 deaths caused by cancer in the U.S. alone. With these numbers, it shows that every minute, 3 people get diagnosed to a type of cancer. Every minute 1 person dies from cancer. (American Cancer Society, “Cancer Statistical Center”) Cancer is like a deadly weapon in war that we can’t do anything about, and it causes people to fear for their life. But what if I told you about new advances in technology that could save many people's lives. Alcohol increases your chances in getting liver and breast cancer. The sun is vital for life providing food for plants and light. The sun can also be negative, this is because the sun gives off powerful rays, there are 3 types of rays. UVA, UVB and UVC. UVC rays are the most dangerous yet they don't really affect us because most of the rays do not enter the atmosphere. However there is still UVA and UVB. The rays give off radiation which is not good, which it can change the genetic material on our cells. Which can cause the cells to be damaged and the damaged cells reproducing hence causing skin cancer. With sun protection, you can avoid getting skin cancer. Age is another risk, this is because the older you are your body can’t fix cells as younger people. But with healthy lifestyle and going to the doctor you

A cure is something that is so rarely found in science, many maladies never completely leave our system. There’s almost always a mark, a trace left behind.
Cancer is a disease caused by a disease caused by an uncontrolled division of abnormal cells in a part of the body.
