Plastic Surgery: Don’t Do It

Specific Purpose: To persuade the audience about the problem of plastic surgery

Thesis: Plastic Surgery has been a problem in American society. People shouldn’t feel ashamed of their body, their looks, or be insecure about any body part because everyone is beautiful in their own way. Problems of plastic surgery include expenses, health issues, and medical malpractice.

I. Attention Getter: Good morning ladies and gentlemen. I just want to start off by saying that you should never try to fix what God has already put his paintbrush on, wise words by J. Cole. You all look stunning and fascinating, beautiful at the least. That goes for everyone in here, so you’re beautiful, you are, you are, you are, and so on.
II. Credibility Statement: I have done plenty of extensive research on why you should not get plastic surgery and how bad it can be for teens and adults.
III. Relating to the Audience: How many of you was ever made fun of because of the way you look? How many has something that they are insecure about? You’re not alone, we all have that one thing we are self-conscious about. I know the feeling.
IV. Thesis: Plastic Surgery has been a problem in American society. People shouldn’t feel ashamed of their body, their looks, or be insecure about any body part because everyone is beautiful in their own way. Problems of plastic surgery include expenses, health issues, and medical malpractice.

Transition: I’m tired of people feeling like they need plastic surgery to fix those insecurities when our flaws is what makes us beautiful in ourselves so let’s talk about the problems that plastic surgery presents.

A. According to Davis (2007), the average cost for a cosmetic procedure nationwide ranges from $3000 to $7000 and that’s without the hospital fees and fees for any other items.
1. For example, a breast implant surgery will cost $3719 on average according to the American Society of Plastic Surgery (2017).
a. Most of the time health insurance won’t cover the cost of plastic surgery operations.
