Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about the benefits of running and the different opportunities for running races.
Central Idea: Running is a positive way to better health, and there are many opportunities to run in races.
I. What do this racing bib, this medal, and this racing spike have in common?
II. They all have something to do with competitive running.
III. I am credible on this subject because I have been running races since sixth grade, and I have run a multitude of various races since I began. Additionally, I completed supplementary research for this speech.
IV. Today I would like to inform you about the benefits of running, along with the different formats of running races, both in high school, and out of high school.
Let's start with the benefits of running.

I. Running is a good form of aerobic exercise, and there are several benefits for both the body and the mind.
A. Medical Daily explains six benefits of running every day, even if it as little as five minutes.
1. Better brain performance is one benefit.
I. Running increases blood flow to the brain including the hippocampus, the key area affected by Alzheimer’s disease.
2. Better mood is another benefit or running.
I. Intense endurance activities release endocannabinoids, which signal happiness.
3. Running also leads to better sleep.
I. Regular running improves subjective sleep and decreases sleepiness during the day.
