Informative Speech: "The Causes of Homelessness" Subject and Purpose
1. This informative speech on “The Cause of Homelessness “is very Inform able and worth listening to, because in today’s economy it could be you or me. Some seem to think homelessness is choice. I find this speech relevant to the world I live in today, due to the high unemployment rate, declining job market, and the economic hardships that families are enduring. This topic is not a broad one, but yet can be spoke of in depth due to the fact I see many homeless people but never thought it would be me until I seen a family friend who has lost everything, this is what made me more aware that it is not just a choice and any day it could be me. So when you see

I believe he stuttered a little over his lines at one point but who is perfect. Once again his overall posture and confident level was excellent. The speaker shows passion for the subject he is speaking on from the hand movements when he speaks on poverty and domestic abuse as being trivial (a means to an end). The speakers volume was just right he spoke high enough for the back of the room could here, and the speech was easy to understand. When given a speech a speaker should consider his audience in the wording of his speech, is he giving a speech to children for educational purposes or a group of college students, this is call no one left behind so the entire audience is on track.
6. Presentation Aids
The presentation Aid the speaker chose to use is a projector hooked up to a computer using a PowerPoint presentation, the use of these really brought out the message is trying to get across. We have some people that absorb information by listening others are visual learners so he covered both bases.
7. Suggestions for Improvement
I would believe that the use of more pictures of the homeless in their day to day situation would have made his presentation even stronger, maybe visiting a soup kitchen during feeding hours. The delivery of his speech would have been stronger if he did not stand in front of the screen but in the middle of the
While I was listening to the audio recording of his speech, he sounded so confident when talking to them. He was a persuasive speaker and spoke to his audience with respect and honesty. He began his speech with a strong hook which I believe caught the attention of his listeners and myself. “I
Dr. La Gerche gave an overall capable speech. His PowerPoint was well put together. It used dark colors that displayed well on screen and didn’t have paragraphs of text. The graphics were extremely effective some were
Randy Pausch did a great job getting the interest of the audience from the very beginning through the end of the speech, either by telling jokes or relating to other people when they were kids. Pausch knew his speech by heart and that was amazing as he never looked at his notes and he had it fully memorized. Pausch had almost no Ahs, Ums, Like, You Know, O¬¬¬¬¬k, or other non-descriptive words and his speech flowed very well. Pausch’s body movement was phenomenal. He used typical hand gestures to keep his audience engaged as he spoke and he also proved his point when he said he was in good physical shape by doing push-ups on stage. Pausch used his transition words appropriately when needed to and it helped his speech flow very well. For example
He had a lot of slow pauses that were caused by him just stopping to think and because this was genuinely a delicate subject for him to discuss. In addition, his delivery was very smooth and came off beyond humble. He did not feel the need to scream, shout or be dramatic he kept his body language very quiet and let his words do all the work. All these different things gave the message to the audience that he was truly grateful to be getting the award but that there was a bigger matter at hands and someone with more courage than him that had pushed him to be the best version of himself.
The speaker's visual aid was by no means a negative aspect of the presentation but, perhaps, could have been more visually enticing or included more in the speech.
He used a story telling atmosphere to his speech and made the atmosphere feel like we were two old friends talking around the fireplace. His delivery was solid and I did not feel that any part was distracting. The tone of voice and rate were very conversational and he used his hands to aid in the story. He did not use his hands too little or too much. Rob walked around the circle telling his story and moved aside to show us his pictures.
Bottom line, this man knows what he is doing. Even his physicality is an important note. I noticed that he was doing a lot of pointing with his index fingers as he repeated certain things, and his hands were never in a fist until the very end of the speech. Kind of like how parents treat little kids when they are explaining something important to them. They use words repetitively and will say things slowly so they can understand it better. That is what Trump was doing for his audience. It can also be looked at as something different than Obama’s and Clinton’s (Hillary) way of delivering a speech. Now what all of them have is confidence, but they gain attention in different
I feel like the speech was not very effective because he never really got the audience's attention or mine. His voice was really plain and dull and was that way the whole speech. The audience wasn't very big and there wasn't very much feedback except for clapping. But a really good trait of his speech was that many times in his speach Alberto is visibly caught up in the emotion of recalling his experiences in Afghanistan. The great thing is that he acknowledges these emotions, He doesn’t apologize for them, He shows his humanity and heart in front of his
This guy doesn't seem prepared at all. It looks as if he is just making stuff up on the spot, so it doesn't make him look like he has any confidence. His body language is terrible. He has his legs crossed and he is leaning on the podium. Doesn't make any eye contact with the audience, except for when he asks them questions. Although dropping the book at the very beginning could've been a good attention getter, he did really do anything with it. He just listed things off about book droppers. The topic might not have been the best choice, but he did not do anything with it. I believe his main problem was that he did not prepare for the speech so he was just trying to wing
Comment on the following points: presentation introduction, presentation closure, speaker knowledge about information, main points clear to audience, etc.
The speaker made direct eye contact at all times unless his head was moving to place emphasis on what he was saying. Further, the speaker spoke loud enough to be heard and did not require me to turn my volume up super high while struggling to hear him. Additionally, the speaker utilized a good pace. He moved slow enough for me to comprehend everything he was telling me but fast enough so that I did not get bored and distracted. Finally, the speaker alternated his pitch throughout the speech which kept my attention. Overall, besides the previously addressed issues, the delivery of the speech was great! I would, however, suggest having more time of the speech spent face to face with the speaker for a more powerful speech.
The visual aids that people used were very helpful in understanding the topic. Mikey's PowerPoint was a good example of this. He used many pictures to bring humor to the situation. I think that that was very creative and it was fun to watch and hear about his topic. I found Mike's speech to be very creative. This is because even though some of his presentation was very graphic I think that was creative that he used what he did. By doing this, he got everyone’s attention.
Mario Capecchi was a great speaker with a very high intelligence level. The crowd he spoke for was confused at some points but he managed to use his power point slides to grasp attention. His slides were to the point but mainly went over my head. The wording was hard

As much as we love stepping out looking our absolute best, the process to get there sometimes makes us ask over and over again, is it worth it?
