This event immediately led to the formation of the Natal Indian Congress in 1894, which was an organization aimed to fight racial discrimination against Indians in South Africa. The next major event that Mahatma Gandhi initiated was the fight for Indian Liberation against British-ruled India thru boycotts, passive revolts, and nonviolent resistance. But the most significant act of nonviolent protest Gandhi led was the Salt March, which was an act of civil disobedience against the British salt tax, in which it was illegal for Indians to make or sell salt.
