“What is Inquiry” Response
My perception of inquiry is similar to the author's view on what inquiry is. The author mentions two types of learning, formal and informal learning. Formal learning; one that prepares a person for tangible, reducible, measurable and definite outcomes which is the type of learning focussed on in schools. Informal learning; one that goes beyond the definite answer and focuses on unpredictable aspects of life. I believe inquiry is the kind of informal learning in which we ask questions for creative possibility and enriched knowledge. It begins when one sees that not all things in life have a definite answer. The author mentions that inquiry is most effective in a group setting, which is understandable because it allows
Everybody has their own methods for writing; however, I believe there is always room for improvement. Chapter 3 in Everyone’s an Author has shown me that writing involves processes that need to be mastered through constant practice. It also revealed helpful tips on how to develop writing processes that can help write effective papers.
Criteria 1.4: State why and when health and safety control equipment, identified by the principles of protection, should be used relating to types, purpose and limitations of each type, the work situation, occupational use and the general work environment, in relation to:
Which layer of the OSI reference model handles logical addressing (IP addresses) and routing traffic?
Based on my reading the author defends the reclamation by analyzing his manifestation by telling what he mention and what he want the reader to comprehend about the passage. In the text "No cons, all pros for reality show",the first of all, depends on what happen on a reality show is what really happens in a lifetime. When the people act out on the reality show they're showing the basic life action. The second defends is that we all know, for example,in real life,it's not what you know, its who you know. Gobs commonality finds reality show as a relief the struggle of people. It's a very good platform for the talented or the best to
The Chinese Proverb, “Tell me and I forget, show me and I remember, involve me and I understand”, applies to the 21st century skills that students need to have to meet the global challenges. Inquiry is a process of active learning that is driven by questioning and critical thinking. The understandings that students develop through inquiry are deeper and longer lasting than any pre-packaged knowledge delivered by teachers to students. Inquiry-based learning follows a process that progresses through phases, but is recursive and reflective throughout (Library of Congress n.d). Furthermore,
The South of the USA is the root of slavery, and it is the most diversity of all regions in the world. It has many cultures, people, clothes, languages, poems, music, tales, foods, and burdens. A lot of slavery was brought to the South of USA against their wills. They did not even want to there, yet they were. They brought their cultures, languages, food, poems, music and tales with them. They served their masters and obeyed them with respect and fear. They could not fight for their freedom or themselves. Slaves were mistreated and they always had to eat what was left over.
For my paper I will be discussing in depth the responses to the questions posed at the end of the study as follows. What kinds of problems are inherent in Jolene’s research project? How would these problems affect the research results? How would you solve these problems? What should Stefanie do? What would the consequences of these actions be for Jolene? For Dr. Lee? For Stefanie
1.1) Explain the sequence and rate of each aspect of development from birth to 19 years.
Everyone possess critical thinking skills but when it comes to criticize a journal article it can be difficult for the first time, one of the best ways to develop critical thinking and reading skills is to use some strategies when reading and evaluating a research study (Wood & Haber,1998). The following essay it is going to focus in a critique of a qualitative journal article by giving its strengths and weakness, critical appraisal it is going to be done with support from different references and frameworks relevant to a qualitative study.
Katlin, your first ah-ha moment caught my attention the most. Thank you for listing a couple of the Code of Ethics created by the National Education Association. After reviewing the information that you provided in your Ah-ha response, I noticed that neither statement that you mentioned stated anything about social economics. Principle number one included social and/or cultural backgrounds, but did not provide details as to whether or not this terminology was only referring to how a person dresses and the activities that he/she chooses to participate in and/or the type of community that he/she lives in. The terminology could be referring to both, but one must do research to figure out what exactly is covered under this principle. If the terminology is not
Roland Barthes once said “Literature is the question minus the answer.” This means that there is no real answer to literature, there are just the questions. This is designed so you can incorporate and have different ideas about literature instead of there being a definite answer to what everything means. Shakespeare for example uses a certain language and his writings require you to think about what's happening and why he worded it the way he did. Other books such as the Invisible Man has a different meaning to the quote. At first I thought that this quote was referring to racism, but it was so much more than that. This quote is saying that there is no answer to life. There are just a bunch of questions followed by decisions but there is no
EPM can be inherited because just like any other traits that will enhance our survival. The six properties that were discussed in lecture were great criteria to determine whether an observed behavior was an EPM in a species. An EPM solved a specific problem of survival or reproduction recurrently over the evolutionary history. Only narrow of information is processed according to EPM. The adaptive problem that an organism is facing is also informed by the EPM. Also EPM transformed through, leaving some room for decision making for an individual as the output. The output is also physiological activity when you make the decision to go with it or take a step back. Finally, the output is to solve a specific problem. In the lecture notes, L. Meek (personal communication, Jan 27, 2016) provided David Buss’s summary of the definition of EPM, “an EPM is a set of procedures within an organism designed to take in a particular slice of information and transform that information via decision rules into output that historically has helped with the solution to an adaptive problem. The psychological mechanism exists in current organisms because it led, on average, to the successful solution of a specific adaptive problem for that organism’s ancestors (2016).”
“The more typical view of learning resembles the mental equivalent of consumerism: the more knowledge we acquire, the better 'educated' we think we are. But as some of the leading researchers and practitioners in the field have observed, such education 'focuses more on memorization and static answers rather than on the art of seeking new possibilities through dynamic questioning.' Instead of teaching students 'how to ask powerful
During week one, my initial definition of learning was listening to an instruction, studying and then rehearsing that information in my mind, or categorizing it in a way so I could remember most of what was taught in the course. The class has opened a new dimension for me in the learning process; from understanding how I process information to deciphering which learning processes I use in intentional learning or metacognition. Understanding my learning patterns form dynamic learning relationship is a key element to my view of how and why I process the learning experience, even relating it to every day life.
English is a hard language to learn, for there are numerous elements of effective usage and writing. Many people, including me, struggle in writing because of a lack of knowledge. Since middle school, English was not a strong suit of mine. I struggled with the simplest of tasks often taking a considerably longer time to complete a task than the other students. Unmotivated teachers and a lack of interest resulted in remedial writing skills. To put it simply, I had little confidence in my writing and I dreaded taking the class because of the writing involved. In spite of my fears, I took the course and I was able to perfect and challenge my mediocre writing skills.
