ABSTRACT Today’s world is about to cloud storage resources and services. Main advantage of cloud service is that they are available 24/7 anywhere. Pocket Drive is also one part of services which cloud storage provides. It is web application which provides 100MB of free storage where you can store your files, images, audio, videos and documents. You can extend this storage limit by paying small amount per month. CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION Project Summary :- Pocket drive Application is about storing and sharing files in cloud. Its main feature is provides 100mb of free storage to users. Extra storage space can be purchased by paying some amount per month. 100 MB is generous amount of space for files, images , docu- ments, audio and video. Main function of pocket drive for users the shared folders feature. Drag and drop context menu facility is available for user .Interface of Pocket drive is user friendly and responsive. Searching option for files and a folder is there for user. Files and folders are unorganised as it does not have a particular share drive therefore it is hard to locate files and is stored on individuals’ computer.
Google Drive is a groundbreaking advancement for technological collaboration due to its simplistic qualities and lack of financial cost to users. In April 2012, Google released Google Drive, consisting of Google Docs, Google Slides, and Google Sheets, also known as “Google applications”. All three applications are innovative in their storage, integration, and sharing capabilities, which address users’ needs by allowing multiple people to contribute to a document, presentation, or spreadsheet simultaneously, streamlining the editing and group work process significantly. In fact, according to Devaney (2018), “collaboration is the name of the game with Google Drive” (para. 1). This technology falls under the umbrella term “cloud computing,” a
Google Drive is a widely used cloud service, which is operated by Google Inc. It is used for information management, knowledge management and knowledge bases, databases, and an information-sharing tool. Its simple interface and easy access globally makes it a possible tool for users wanting a free cloud service.
This gives Filesense the ability to search its own public documents database which has all the free documents that all other websites or browser add ons have
End users who enjoy these resources and services available in the internet without knowing the knowledge of where and how these resources are manage. It is always available and is highly mobile across the platforms;
these systems meant that each user using the platform is capable of sharing and downloading data,
Cloud technology is attracting increasing attention from industry and scientific areas. It has been treated as one of the most important technologies and shown promising future. Cloud is the technology to provide a quick, secure, convenient net computing and data storage service and implemented over the Internet, which is capable of sharing a pool of configurable computing resources with on-demand network access. Cloud technology provides various specific services such as software application, data storage, hardware, and infrastructure. People access Cloud via the internet through web browsers to finish on-demand services, while this was implemented on traditional deploying on-premises servers in old days.
The new cloud storage, known as OneDrive, features many new updates that can be used with Microsoft Word as well as other Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and PowerPoint. What sets it apart from its predecessor, SkyDrive, is that OneDrive gives you one place for all of your files, including photos, videos, and documents, and it’s available across the devices you use every day. One of the main problems with SkyDrive was that for a cloud storage it was very difficult to use effectively. In fact the vast majority of Microsoft customers still had their data spread out everywhere from numerous folders after being fully aware of SkyDrive’s purpose. Many users familiar with the cloud still had content stored on a device that wasn’t backed up elsewhere.
In this way, mobile computing has brought some major changes to the internet world; some of them include cloud computing, social media services and e-commerce. Cloud computing is a service through which users can compute data, use applications and save their data online on internet. This stored data and applications can be accessed anywhere anytime. For example, if a user saves some data online in cloud from home desktop and then finds a need to access while being on a trip, it can be easily accessed through mobile phone or laptop just by connecting to internet. Similarly, applications can be used while being mobile.
The next cloud we look at is Google Drive, which is one of the best in my opinion to save files on. Making, sharing, and downloading files from google drive is one of the easiest tasks at hand. Google drive lets you share with others that have a drive account. One of it’s features that some drives do not have, is there is an app version of the drive so you can use it on almost any device of your choosing. There is also an offline feature that allows the user to still view the documents they have created or saved, the more recent version of google drive lets you use the offline version as an editing tool too. One of the downfalls from google drive is if you have no internet then the drive will not work unless you only want to view a already edited document.
The National Institute of Standards and Technology describes cloud storage as a model for enabling ubiquitous, on-demand network access to a shared configurable computing resources that can be swiftly accessed and released with minimal effort or service provider collaboration. It is comprised of a collection of hardware and software that allows the infrastructure of the cloud to work in a seamless, unified effort. Depending on the classification of information and the service provider the remote servers can be located within the same facility. The stored data is
higher as they get bigger. Keeping in mind the end goal to enhance execution of these
Personal Cloud Storage: When in our any type of storage device like a phone or a tablet we are saving documents like a photo or an audio file we are saving it in a cloud. Now the cloud here is a storage environment presented to us by syncing data through a powerful database, we not only store data but can call the data anytime and retrieve it.
Portability and mobility of storage devices like flash drives and USB devices are becoming so popular to carry and transport data on the go. Unlike CD/DVD, hard drive, floppy disk or tape drive, a flash memory has no moving parts, so it guarantees fast read/write speeds and more durable compared to other forms of storage media. Using a flash drive/memory card to transfer a file typically uses a computer (e.g. laptop, pc, netbook or tablet) to initialize mass storage communication which is not portable. Smartphone can exchange the data through Bluetooth but can’t act as host to USB drive to USB drive communication for data transfer. The proposed system bridges the gap of USB drive to USB drive data transfer when a computer is not present. Because of low prices of Smartphone almost everybody use smartphone so even Smartphone can’t act as host but it can acts as mediator and can be used as user interface to give operational command for data transfer. Moreover, booting a computer just to transfer a file/s is ridiculous.
