Instant
I'll always remember Instant. That was the nickname the men had tacked onto the muscled giant that wielded the M60 in my unit. "Instant" was short for
"Instant Death." And I'll always remember the first time I saw Instant in action. I was a new Lieutenant assigned to Vietnam. Back then, the Army didn't try to develop any "team spirit" within the corps; men were rotated frequently before any friendships developed. Consequently, my men were a group of strangers united only by the need to survive. They were eighteen- and nineteen-year-olds with the eyes of old men. My first real assignment was to check a tiny hamlet, Dien Hoa.
Army Intelligence believed the Viet Cong were operating from Dien Hoa. Our job was to

It took nearly an hour to walk through the grassland and occasional wooded section of the valley to the heavy jungle area at the foot of the hills. Our speed slowed while we went up the slight incline and wove through the ever thickening vegetation. At the ridge which overlooked Dien Hoa, we halted while I inspected the village below them with my binoculars.
I searched for a warning sign, some hint of danger. Old men, women, and children, with a few water buffalo, milled around; everything appeared normal.
But I knew that just because an area "looked" business-as-usual it meant nothing in Vietnam.
"Call headquarters," I told my radio man as I lowered my binoculars. Moments later, he had reached headquarters with his radio. I took the phone piece and let my commander know what the situation was. As expected, we were ordered to continue toward the village. I gave the radio phone-piece to the radioman, put my helmet back onto my head, and stood.
"Sergeant," I said.
"Yes, Sir," Sergeant Nelson answered. The burley, middle-aged trooper squinted at me. His face was wrinkles, sunburn, and peeling skin.
"We got bunched up on our way up," I said. "Be sure they keep spaced apart."
Sergeant Nelson nodded. I didn't have to tell him that it would be essential to keep spaced in case of an ambush. I hoped the new guys would take his orders
we found out that we were not at basic training yet, we had just arrived at the Reception
Writing has many tools and devices that can be used to influence the purpose and meaning of the a piece of work. In the two pieces of work, "Private License Plate Scanners Amassing Vast Databases Open to Highest Bidders-which is written in a way that it is anti-license plate tracking- and "Who Has the Right to Track You?'-which is written to be for license plate tracking- many different tools and devices are used by the authors. These pieces of work describe the benefits and drawbacks of collecting data and tracking fellow citizens, but use different forms of pathos, ethos, and logos to portray what they are trying to say. Also, both articles state how many are opposed to this tracking, arguing that it is against the First Amendment,
The general topic covered in these articles is about Trump's decision to allow plastic water bottle sales in national parks. Trump’s administration ended a six-year-old ban that prohibited the sale of plastic water bottles. It was placed in effect to ease plastic pollution.

Since 2013 till I come to Melbourne on 2015, Amila didn’t have any of my expenses as I was earning well. Even after we got married he didn’t send me money during my stay in SL. I spent on both our families and friends. Plus holiday arrangements. I did spent on wedding while he spent only on his suite and my ring.
The movie Equilibrium is an excellent movie to relate to our Introduction to Sociology class. Equilibrium follows the life of John Preston, an elite member of a military team used to locate and destroy all things considered “sensory stimulating”. In this society all citizens are forced to take drugs that suppress all feeling and emotion. The reason for this is the leader “father” of this society believes emotion is the cause of all conflicts such as crime and war. Anyone not taking the drug is considered a “sense offender” and is killed on the spot. John Preston is a firm believer in his government and its cause, until he misses a dose of his drugs. After realizing how
I agree that they had no idea what to do after Elena left. All they did after Elena left was focus on relationship's. Bonnie had to get with Enzo only for him to die and make her feel a bit suicidal why? The point of Stefan getting back with Valerie later on only to end things because he wanted Caroline had to happen for what reason? The Gemini babies had to survive for what purpose? For some Alaric and Caroline bullshit that really didn't come to fruition only for her to be with Stefan but then he dies which…basically means everything we watched with them had no meaning essentially. Hayley had to resurrect after having her throat slit because…? Elijah needed to fuck his brother's sloppy leftover seconds but then they have a one night
Federal financial aid has changed drastically in the past 50 years. Dr. Yoon, Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina, has done research in comparing the changes of federal financial aid from 1970s to 2007. “In the late 1970s, the Pell Grant peaked to cover more than 80% of college expenses for its recipients . . . . Now . . . the Pell Grant takes up about 16.3% . . . of the federal financial supports. Thus, students from low-income families are reported to have more debt than non- Pell Grant recipients” (qtd. in Yoon 106). The facts here make one wonder why the Pell Grant does not cover as much as it used to. If students are qualifying for this grant it is because they are in financial need. The irony of this grant is that students
Frisco is a family oriented suburb on the outskirts of Dallas, Texas. The city became popular because it was an affordable place outside of the city to start a family. What was once a quiet rural suburb has now turned into a booming city of its own. Over time, the city has become the central location for business corporations which has almost doubled the cost of living and annual income per household since the year 2000. The growth of the city has caused an increase in the number of schools, hospitals, recreation centers, churches, and stores.
Critically reflecting on the links between my identity as a learner and relevant processes and approaches, I feel sketch notes would not improve my own learning and progress. This is because I feel I would spend too much time on the drawings that I would lose focus on the content. For example, if I was to use sketch notes during a lecture, I feel I would spend too much time on the drawings that I may miss information. Also, I am the world’s worst drawer therefore when looking back at my notes I may struggle to recall what I meant by the drawing.
The human body is the original story. One that is always in flux due to biological, psychological, and societal considerations. In crafting a story, there’s no such thing as perfection. Each person’s narrative comes together—by the page, sentence, word, and punctuation. Our individual and collective experiences are all a part of the reality we ascribe to ourselves and the world, and like with any draft, parts of it may be scrapped for something new.
Lance may not have any plants that cast sparkling golden illumes, but he's still pretty proud of his balcony situation, white picket soaked in forest-greens and viridian and bursts of colour from overgrown ivy and potted anemones, caspias, roses, flora that he sure as heck doesn’t know the actual names of. He continues to lounge idly against the doorway and watches the way the terrariums hanging from the ceiling shift back and forth and make shadows against Keith, whose fingertips are now buried with soil as he regards Lance with eyes like solar systems and a dishevelled grin.
