Integrity is being fair and not taking sides when someone asks for my opinion. Having the ability to truly be honest and say what is right instead of trying to placate the truth. Integrity is affording, anyone the opportunity to correct their issues, instead of continually endeavoring to find fault in them. Integrity is having a standard of morals and ethics, and living by them. It is a willingness and ability to do the right thing even when it is hard. The story To Kill a Mockingbird is filled with integrity. For example, many of the people in Maycomb share a prejudiced sense of integrity when it comes to its racist views. However, it is Atticus Finch’s integrity throughout the novel that really embodies the idea of moral and ethical principles. He puts into action every moral idea that he supports. Atticus is a role model to not only his children, but to the whole town of Maycomb, and his integrity is a great part of what makes him such a good example. Integrity

A person of integrity does exactly what he says and says exactly what he means. There is no conflict between his thoughts and actions. His actions are consistent with the values he professes. According to Dr. William Manninger, A building without integrity may receive structural damage, or even collapse, in a storm. Similarly, people without integrity are blown about by the winds of misfortune and destroyed by catastrophes, for they lack the firmness, solidity, and strength of character to weather any storm. This means that integrity is one of the six essential qualities that are the key to success.

When it comes to the Army core values I feel that all of them are equally important when it comes to being a great leader or just a soldiering general. The acronym LDRSHIP is what every soldier should represent and exemplify. It is the core of who we are. If I had to choose one that means the most to me I would say integrity. Without integrity you are nothing. To be able to be a great leader you should be able to always do what is right whether in the eye of someone else or behind closed doors. You should always be able to admit when wrong. Being a leader of integrity is being able to act according to principles and making decisions that are true to the army and one’s moral belief. I already know that integrity is a core value that many people lack due to not learning it at an earlier age. My father, mother, karate instructor, and military instructor all have explained integrity to me and why it is so important to have. Integrity has to be part of your character to be a good person.

Simon Sinek has not taught me integrity is one character we as people should have, I already knew that, he just showed me just how important it is within an organization or the bigger picture. Integrity is base of everything. Going to school, work, or even the grocery store you use this trait at least everyone around you hopes you do. I want everyone, including those who do not work with or for me, to see this honor within me. I never want anyone to doubt my integrity.

A person with integrity is humble – He is more concerned about what is right than about being right. He recognizes principle and puts it ahead of self.

Integrity is doing the right thing versus the wrong thing. People, if nothing else, can always have their pride, their integrity. It is something that means a lot to some people and then nothing to others. The ones who value their integrity highly are the good people in this world, and the opposite is true for those who do not value their integrity.
