Intercultural conflicts 1. Identify and describe the types of intercultural conflict, giving examples for each. There are a lot of intercultural conflicts in the workplace which if not succinctly looked into, may cause decreased productivity in an organization and may even lead to the decline of the organization. Avoiding intercultural conflicts enables an organization to improve the relationship between the employees and reduce cases of misunderstanding. Some common forms of misunderstanding at the workplace are related to ethnicity, education, and generations (Ting-Toomey, & Oetzel, 2001). 2. Identify and describe the benefits and challenges of intercultural relationships. Intercultural conflicts can be beneficial to an organization in different ways as much as they have their challenges. It is, therefore, important to spread cultural awareness in the workplace. Some of the advantages of intercultural conflicts are related to the manner in which the employees operate externally while the challenges are mostly related to the manner in which they operate internally (Rinderle, 2013). Both [erspectives prove that diversity should be embraced. The advantages of cultural conflict include the difference in perspective, broad coverage of issues, change of attitudes towards diversity, ease in problem solving and creativity. Cultural diversity provides a wider perspective of dealing with the challenges as well as a broader coverage of the complications because of the different ways that the complications can be approached (Rinderle, 2013). As workers relate and share ideas, they become aware of the other existing cultures and the important roles they can play and change attitudes towards cultural diversity Cultural conflicts also have its challenges in the workplace.
