Terrorism is defined as an act of violence that is committed by an organization or a single person in order to be heard. Tactics to induce terror in pursuit of a political goal have been utilized by a multitude of organizations across the globe. This method of power control is known as terrorism, and due to its impact and unpredictability, it is highly feared and monitored today in the 21st century. Attacks of this nature stem from radical beliefs of religion, ethics, or other politics, and have been carried out globally, ranging from the 9/11 attack in New York City to the 2015 shooting in Paris, France. Terrorism over recent years has grown despite an abundance of efforts by many nations and international organisations to stop development of such groups. This growth is partially attributed to advances in digital technology and the furtherment of communication techniques, such as social media and web-based content, which has allowed for the spread of these radical ideas across the planet making it difficult to control the advancement of these beliefs (Council on Foreign Relations, 2009). Terrorism will never be able to be fully stopped due to the abstract nature and ideology from which terrorism originates.

Terrorism has had a profound affect on the world, as it has inspired fear and despair in the hearts of millions of people. Specifically in the United States, where in certain circumstances U.S. citizens will carry out acts of terror to further their own cause. Domestic terrorism has taken roots in many aspects of society through certain ideological groups, radicalization through media, and by acts of terror that cause immense civil unrest.

Since then, the number of attacks that took place have had a considerable impact in different parts of the world has exceeded fifty, leaving uncounted car bombs in Spain, Iraq, Mexico, Israel and Afghanistan. Another source states “Terrorism has been described variously as both a tactic and strategy; a crime and a holy duty; a justified reaction to oppression and an inexcusable abomination” (Terrorism Research, n.d.). Our unit one lecture reminded us of the adage “One man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter” and pondered whether the Boston Tea Party could be viewed as an act of terrorism (Bethel University, 2017). Al-Qaeda is an Arabic term that means “the base” and arguably one of the most dangerous Islamic terrorist organisation in the world.. It was formed by Saudi millionaire Osama Bin Laden in the late 1980’s to resist the Soviet Union, which occurred from 1979 to 1989.The Al-Qaeda group is a large and very complex network which involves many countries and radical Sunni Muslim Organization. Afghanistan became ungoverned for 7 years soon after the Soviet Union withdrew during which the country experienced constant fighting among different groups just within their jurisdiction. This resulted into poverty and many children being orphaned. Most of the Orphans were educated in Islamic schools resulting to the growth of radical students and followers of what became to be known as Al-Qaeda.

Terrorism can affect everyone at any time and place. Even when there is a threat being made in another country, halfway across the world, it affects everyone in some kind of way. It affects everyone because it is a threat to all the people in the world.

Terrorism, which has been around for as long as people can remember, has been on the rise for the past ten years. Terrorists usually use murdering, kidnapping, hi-jacking and bombings to achieve their political purpose. For instance, according to Wikipedia.com (2006), in 1985 816 deaths, then in 2003, more than 1,000 people died by terorist acts around the world. In recent years, terrorism seems to be at a new height and attacks are much more violent than in the past. Unfortunately, in spite of many anti-terror campaigns, projects and organizations are being created for prevention (to prevent) terrorism, the number of terrorists only is increasing. These days terrorism is all over the world.
