The song I would have to pick as the theme song of my life is the song “Anyway” by Martina McBride. The song basically says sometimes you can give your all to something, and it still doesn’t work out in your favor but you should do it anyway. Obviously you shouldn’t do things expecting them not to work out, but you’re your passionate about something do it in spite of the fact that it might fail. Like famed baseball player Babe Ruth said “Don’t let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game”. I also do not believe effort is wasted in the situations when you happen to not get the result you wanted. Almost every time I have tried and failed at something it has benefited me in an unexpected way. In these situations I am reminded
In America, our identity often comes from the culture we live in and develop for ourselves. The identity of many Americans is also developed by their actions. Some groups develop an identity by speaking their native language, like some members of “Chinatown” in various American cities. Others develop their identities by the way they dress, music they listen to, and their sexual identity. We can clearly see some of the largest factors used to develop one’s identity is the area in which they live in and their actions throughout their day to day life. In Kenny Chesney’s song American Kids we see the development of identity from the hometowns and actions of these so called “kids.”
The song that I chose to write about is “Now that we’re men” by Spongebob sSuarepants, The main topic in this song is that two young males have taken on a big challenge to prove that they are good enough to be called men. In this song Spongebob and Patrick are both going after the crown that Plankton stole from King Neptune. A few of the best quotes in the song are; “Get the crown save the town, and Mr.Krabs”, “ we’re tough enough to save the day now that we’re men, “they’ll pass the test and finish the quest for the crown”. The first quote is powerful because it shows how much them stepping up is meaning to the whole town and Mr.Krabs. The second quote is very meaningful because it is telling the listeners that once you become a man there
I think the author of the poem, "leaving the Motel," would approve of the song, "Me and Mrs. Jones," to express his poem in song form. It defines a furtive affair between a man and his lover. In the poem, "Leaving the Motel," the author describes two people are having an affair. The private couple do not want to get caught and ruin their lives outside of the relationship. The author writes, "Too. Keep things straight: don't take --The matches, the wrong keyrings--We've nowhere we could keep a keepsake" This line means the couple is double-check to make sure they have nothing of each others. Snodgrass was implying that there is no room for any mistakes in this relationship. If they had taken something of one another, they would be found out. Their secret would be relived. Now in the song, the composer Billy Paul writes, "We gotta be extra careful -- That do we don't build our
During the Civil Rights Era from 1954-1968, leaders like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, Bayard Rustin and many others utilized the strength of voice to empower the people they were representing. When they stood up to speak, their reason for speaking was not to make others change their minds, but instead, to encourage and inspire those who already believed in their cause and shared their hardships. Fast forward to today, and the same methods are being used. In Jeff Chang’s book, “We Gon’ Be Alright”, he is constantly using examples and stories as the evidence to back up his ideas and his perspective. While most people think the reason for that is to change the reader’s way of thinking, Chang doesn’t try to persuade anyone. His
For my song I have chosen to do “Forever” by Jeff Williams. Jeff Williams is a songwriter that has other musical abilities like being able to play keyboards, guitar, bass, and drums. He is also an Assistant Professor at Berklee College of Music. He wrote this song to accompany a death scene in a web series called Red vs. Blue in the year 2012. He wrote this song for Red vs. Blue because he was the company that makes these videos an official songwriter for the past 3 seasons of the show. It was song by Jeff Williams’s daughter Casey Lee Williams. Therefore the meaning and tone of the song is one that is both deep and significant to people of all ages.
The reason I chose the song I’ve Got The World On A String by Frank Sinatra is because he talks about how he loves the life he lives and how he can basically control what goes on around him. In the
Frank Sinatra- I'm Gonna Live Till I Die "Those blues I lay low.... I'll make 'em stay low" The reason I added this song to my playlist was because It is so upbeat and lifting. Listening to this song can make people feel good and enjoy living for all the time they have on earth until they die.
“Girl In A Country Song” provides an alternative equipment for living through the rules of how women and men should behave. Throughout the introduction of the video, the women are portrayed as weak and dressing in a way to only attract the male eye. This is seen through the way that the women desire the men’s attention and acceptance, which goes along with the societal norm of women being less than men. However, towards the end of the video, women are portrayed in a more dominant role. Teaching women viewers that they aren’t less worthy than the men, and that they should speak up against sexism is crucial. To summarize, the text teaches us that it is inappropriate to view girls as anything less than exceptional, which challenges American hegemony and ideology.
Every day is like a battle but every night with us is like a dream -Taylor Swift that quote was what I was living by. All I had to do was endure hell on earth during the day, then as soon as that bell rang I was free. So I worked incredibly hard and ended up with an acceptance letter for next year, because of scholarship reasons. That shook me to my core because of how hard I worked. How could something so simple like money take away my dream. This is where it took everything in me to just trust that god had a plan for me.

“It's kind of fun to do the impossible” is a quote by walt disney. I believe that anyone can achieve the impossible just by working hard. This leads into the song I chose “Hall of Fame”by the script, the theme of this song is encouraging yourself to do the impossible, will eventually lead you to the hall of fame. First, one of the verses says “you can move a mountain, you can break rocks, you can be the master don't wait for luck, dedicate yourself and you will find yourself standing in the hall of fame.” This tells us that as long as you believe in yourself you can achieve your goals. For me achieving, has always been one of my biggest goals, whether that be in academics or sports. But I have had people tell that I am not smart enough to get
The breakup in Patsy Cline’s She’s Got You is portrayed as not wanting to let go but having to because the other person has moved on. Patsy sings about still have some of the exes physical objects like a picture, records they shared, a class ring, and most importantly memories that they both shared. She realizes that they are no longer in a relationship but it seems hard for her to move on. She has objects that remind her of her relationship but she doesn’t have the actual relationship anymore. It’s hard for her to let go even though she knows that there is a new person in her exes life and that she’s not that person that gets to be with him anymore. The ex has moved on and has a new significant other in their life. Patsy sings about how she still has little things that
As I think about my senior year, where I have been, where I am going and who I am, I have realized what my theme song should be. It describes me in many different ways.
‘No matter gay, straight, or bi, I was born to survive’. In the words of lady GaGa herself it doesn’t matter who you marry, what your gender is or what’s you race you just need to accept others and yourself. Lady GaGa’s song ‘Born this Way’ informs others about self-acceptance in her new album ‘Born this way’. This song is about people abusing others and reflecting badly on them self because of their race, gender and choice in who they marry. Lady GaGa expresses her thoughts about people’s issues to say it doesn’t matter who you are because you were born that way.
Don't look at me is the first line of Christina Aguilera's song "Beautiful." This instant whisper from the voice of Aguilera creates an ashamed vibe for the song. It is spoken quietly and without any musical instrumentation. As the music softly and brilliantly builds up to the first verse listener's already have a misinterpretation of the lyrics. The audience presumes that the song will be about depression or shame and disgrace because one would associate not wanting people to look at you with shame. However, once they read more into the lyrics they notice that the meaning of the song is much deeper than shame and actually has an opposite message. When the audience hears the title of the song they could
