I will never be the same as I was before it happened. The moment I went into THE FOREST. The things that I saw will always haunt me till I die, even now when I’m safe and sound I still see them, the memories of me in THE FOREST it all haunts me. This entire thing started way back when I was still a father. “Daddy!, Daddy!, wake up” the sound of a girl’s voice, who could it be that’s calling me? The sun’s light flashing at my open eye’s hurts, this girl shaking me hurts, “Daddy it's time, get up Daddy!” she says. It’s time? Those few words comes in like a shock, THAT'S RIGHT! How could I forget why we're here. “Lindsey let’s go we don’t want to miss our flight!” there isn’t much of our luggage but if we’re late to get there before they announced us we wouldn’t be allowed to get on the plane. …show more content…
If you're here please come up and let us scan your ticket, I repeat, Author and Lindsey! If you’re here please come up and let us scan your ticket.” The lady takes a look at the crowd in front of her, no one stepped up and said that they were Author and Lindsey. Just as she was about to walk and let the others through, “Wait! I’m Author!” I stopped, trying to get my breath to calm down and swallow as much air as possible, Lindsey was right next to me doing the same too. “This is my daughter Lindsey, here is our tickets” I handed her over our tickets. She walks to the counter where her partner was also there looking at a
In the essay published in 1995 “ Caring for the Woods “, by Barry Lopez shares his thoughts on what is happening to the undeveloped and uncut land. Coming from a family that used land for planting, harvesting, and buying up, at the age of 49 Barry realized sacrificing the biological integrity of land in his generation should stop. Barry’s neighbor put 32 acres for sale which at the time had active timber companies who wanted to the land to clear-cut forcing barry and his wife to match up to prevent this from happening. Barry and his wife were able to purchase the land and completed legal arrangement to prevent logging, or being developed after they pass away. Being able to watch the spread of logging, watching the same house being put up for
mystery and remained an enigmatic piece of literature even in its conclusion. The point-of-view, plot, and figurative language developed by O’Brien were critical in maintaining the mystery as consistently and effectively as was evident in, In the Lake of the Woods. The main character, John Wade, believed he was a magician from early childhood and throughout his development into adulthood. He was the ultimate magician both personally and in his perception of his vocations of soldier and politician.

Critics have continuously characterized Peter Taylor’s work, as a social critique of the South and how it shows “the effects of cultural inheritance on its people” (Bryant 66). In his story, “The Old Forest,” Taylor examines the regional history and social structures that shaped his own past and how breaking the architecture that has existed for generations is not easily accomplished. Although it takes place in 1937, with progressive girls and college students filling the city of Memphis with intellectualism and open sexuality, the social constructions of the past, most specifically the descendents of plantation owners and rich socialites, are not easily forgotten. Lines have been drawn between those
1. Joss Whedon says that ‘The Cabin in the Woods’ is “your basic horror movie taken apart; five kids go to a cabin in the woods to have a fun weekend of partying and possibly sex… and are therefore dismembered”. Whedon and Goddard have in essence tried to create a movie with roots tied to the horror genre; it is simply your common slasher movie where the characters are killed off one by one till there is either one person left or none for that matter. ‘The Cabin in the Woods’ also has ties to other genres such as comedy, this can be seen in scenes such as where they are all sitting around in the main room, playing truth or dare, and Jules is dared to kiss the wolfs head on the wall, also in the scene where Marty
Into the woods was an adventurous play that was perfect for the use of your imagination and spirit. Into the Woods had numerous different fairy tales involved which could make a small child feel like he/she was in heaven. The acting, music, concept, stage design, costumes, and even the language of the play all mixed to perfection. The crowd became involved right away with the irony of the play. I liked how Into the Woods was set up in the beginning because it made the play easier to follow. However, the play seemed to be a little lengthy and some of the characters became annoying. I do not believe the second part of the play altogether was necessary. Into the Woods did not fulfill my expectations to the max,
Book by James Lapine was a great story overall. I truly enjoyed watching the show especially when the Music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim played perfectly during the show. Director Eve Himmelheber was able to put out a such an amazing show. I really enjoyed watching Into The Woods because it was colorful, every character was really great with their role, and so much more. I could not be more amazed of how beautiful the production came out. Musical Director Mitchell Hanlon was really great with every musical that played throughout the show. He was always in time of making the sound when a character would kick the floor or any action that was necessary during the play. Scenic Designer Mauri Anne Smith and Ashley Strain created such an amazing setting for the production. The scene looked very realistic, which is really great because it gave me a different feel of the show. Costume Designer Michelle Kincaid created such beautiful costumes for every single character. Whether the costumes were bought, hand made, or both it still came out pretty good. The costume definitely matched the theme of having several characters from different show. Lighting Designer Ben Hawkins made the interior and

William Apess broke the mold by writing this autobiography titled A Son of the Forest in 1829, considering it was not a common literary form for his time. Apess also set the bar as the earliest autobiography written and published by a Native American. Throughout the piece we learn his highs and lows, the prejudices he encountered, his different jobs, and his ordainment and success as a minister.
Every summer as a young child my family drove to Florida. I, unable to sleep in the back of moving car would spend hours on end staring out the car window admiring the moving scenerary. I would stick my head out of the window as the crisp air would hit my face as I watched the trees changes from pine trees to palm trees, counting the cows on farms and simply enjoying the sceneary like a movie. These will be memories I will treasurer forever. But now because of the high tech technology in the society in which we live in today children will never be able to experience the same joys I had while viewing the moving sceneary in the back seat of my mothers mini van. In Richard Louv’s informative article, Last Child in the Woods he explains the deliama
In the New York time’s I found an article that talks about the trouble social scientist must go through to get their clinical studies approved. “Some Social Scientist Are Tired of Asking for Permission,” by Kate Murphy focuses on the why social scientist shouldn’t have to get all their clinical studies approved by the institution review board (I.R.B) a committee used to formally approve, monitor, and review studies that involve humans. Kate Murphy focus her article on the why social scientist don’t need approval for their clinical studies. Therefore, I believe her desire audience is those who work for the I.R.B. And the purpose of her article is to pursue them into changing the rules.
inventions that seem to be forever changing is technology. More specific, automobile technologies. For instance, the Ford Model T when created in 1908, was mostly a metal shell with the basic controls for movement with no other technology. Throughout the years there were conveniences such as air conditioning, heaters, radio, and power windows and power locks. Nowadays it seems automakers are more concerned in technology than anything else. These technologies now range from accident avoidance systems to even wireless internet, but at what point do we say it has gone too far? I believe these technologies have already gotten out of control. There just seems to be more distractions being created than being taken away.
It was a calm, overcast day, and I found myself resting at the side of a large oak tree, admiring the beauty of the woods that surrounded me.
