Outline
I. Introduction
Parenting styles are the strategies and the approaches that parents use when raising their offspring.
II. Authoritarian
a. The authoritarian parenting style is described as not being responsive yet having too many demands.
b. children often develop low self-esteem, become shy, and are anxious when around others.
III. Permissive (indulgent)
a. Permissive parenting is the type of parenting where parents are nurturing but are too passive.
b. they will lack self-control and can be spoiled and self-absorbed because they get used to having whatever they want and concerned only with their needs
IV. Neglectful
a. Neglectful parents, also known as uninvolved parents, are generally parents who are not aware of their child’s needs.
b. Depression, anxiety, fear, and stress are usual for children because they haven’t been nurtured by their parents and are generally emotionally withdrawn which makes them not have connections with friends for example.
V. Authoritative
a. The authoritative parenting style, is demanding, but not as much as authoritarian parents, and are responsive, but not as much as permissive parents.
b. Children raised by these parents usually are responsible and can make wise decisions on their own and also have respect for authority
