Intro to Sociology
Sociology is the systematic study of human society. It is about human beings interacting together and what happens when we interact with each other. Sociology is literally the study of society and how it works. Every time we come in contact with another human being, it’s a form of sociology. Sociologists study the social trends in society. Life is surrounded with various issues from a social standpoint. We all live, dress, speak, and act a certain way because of the way we we’re brought up. Society changes from one generation to the next and will always change as we progress. What we may consider normal may vary from what another country may believe is normal. I feel sociology is thinking outside of the box, not

However, in today 's world, the influences these institutions have seem to be declining as our changing society adapts to a more technological age. The growth of the mass media has had a significant impact on the lives of everyone, with specifically television becoming an enormously powerful medium. In society today the television set, which is so prominent in so many households, is not only a means of entertainment, but is also an important source of information. With recent research indicating that, on average, children spend 3.3 hours a day in front of the television (B.A.R.B., 1987), it seems inevitable that, as a learning source, it has an important role in helping the 'vulnerable and impressionable ' minds of children to develop certain social roles and behaviour traits. Television presents to its attentive audience a certain image of the world, providing a framework for what is acceptable and what is unacceptable in society, and also sends out implicit and explicit messages of what the world is like. In its portrayal of 'normal ' life, it reflects many important social roles, one of the most important and pervasive of these being 'gender '. Television has the potential to teach children about how men and women act in society, and to mould their views of what is expected of them in society as either a man or a woman.”

Instantaneously reading Chapter One of the online textbook that was assigned and already being intrigued by what was had discovered, sociology is one of the most interesting and also complex study ever encountered. This is not because of the difficulty level, but by how much sociologist have to specify about society and culture which can have an erupt change at any time. Bradley Dietz Intro to Sociology 1/25/18 Correlation and causation are two terms used to either predict or explain possibilities between two variables. The term correlation means that the relationship between two or more variables change together. On the other hand, causation refers to two more variables where one causes another. One difference of each includes the fact that a correlation can be positive/negative, or direct/indirect. As for causation, it has to include some sort of correlation and other criteria on its own.
Sociology is very hard to give one definition to, as it is a century old and contains methodical approaches and theoretical approaches. One way to look at sociology is to look at people and how they are affected by society and how society affects them. Also, how they are associated by institutions, groups and societies. Sociology is a relatively new academic discipline. Emerged in the 19th Century as people were starting to challenge modernity. The world was advancing, and people were becoming aware of different societies. Sociologists realised that they needed to find out how different groups held themselves together and possible solutions to social solidarity. Sociology was coined by a man called Auguste Comte and is little more than historical interest. (Piero, 2016) He wanted to show that sociology was important and that it could improve a society and direct human activity, and this was developed to remedy the social malaise of the French revolution calling for new social doctrine based on sciences.(Ritzer,2003) .Other classical theorists of this time were Karl Marx, Max Weber and Emile Durkheim. Their historical context has had continued importance and their ideas have been used throughout history. “People were using science instead of religion to understand the world” (Giddens, 2006). Emile Durkheim had more of a lasting impact than Comte although Durkheim used a

Sociology is the scientific study of human society. It examines the development of social structures, and the interaction between these structures and human behaviour. Sociologists aim to provide tools of understanding the process of socialisation, and investigate the causes and consequences of things such as labels, belief systems, bureaucracy, gender roles, relationships, and inequality. Becker and Horowitz (1972) claimed that "good sociology is sociological work that
Human behaviour is something that on a day to day basis is learned, being through our social interactions and relationships with others. In this essay I aim to identify the influence that the media and society depicts on the concept of gender roles and ideas which surround this topic. I will be exploring parental influences as well as the effects of primary socialisation of Television and toys, on children’s gender. Then to go on, in deeper detain to the way that the media creates and emphasises the gender divisions between male and female.
According to the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary (2010), Sociology is referred to as “.the systematic study of the development, structure, interaction, and collective behavior of organized groups of human beings” (para. 1); however, the transformable qualities of this science are not represented by this definition, as they should be. To best understand these changes, we must first consider changes within people as study objects; for as previously stated, Sociology changes in ways which are commensurate to changes in the world around it.
Sociology is the study of the social lives of human beings and how humans live culturally and socially develop relationships. It is crucial to understand the society that humans live in and a series of social behavior that humans undergo. The three major ways you could view sociology, Structural Functionalism, Conflict theory, and Symbolic Interaction. Not everyone will have the same sociological perspective because the different perspectives are truly based on what you believe this world runs on.
However new you are to sociology it is probable that you have an idea, however vague and general, regarding what sociology is supposed to be about. It may be that you have an idea that sociology is 'about' people. And you would be right to think so. We might start then by noting that sociology is one of the human sciences and as such it is a subject to be distinguished from the so-called 'physical sciences'. Sociology is the study of humanity.
I thought the concept of sociology referred to how people socialize in communities. Little did I know that sociology study all aspects of life, including how society and people affect each other positively or negatively. I also did not know that sociology looks at what makes people exhibit behaviours that may deviate from the set norms and values of society.
